Nepalese people hate India and Indians, main reson behind that is racism. Nepalis never liked Indians because of indian's darker skin color compared to mountain Nepalis. No matter how much we Indians talk about India-Nepal historical relations, we have never had a good relationship with the mountain Nepalis. We had cultural ties with Madhesi. Note that Nepalis also hate their own native Madhesi for the same reason(dark skin color).
Nepalese disliked black Indians so much that Kingdom of Nepal and Gorkhas served as the British's most loyal dogs. Nepalis suppressed many Indian movements on behalf of the British government in India, killing many Indians.
Why more we are equally important.
Get your facts right:
1. Never did any king of Nepal want to make Nepal a part of India. Instead when Indira Gandhi proposed to do so, King Mahendra declined the offer by saying that India should be a part of Nepal instead.
2. During the Maoist movement, India did supply arms to the Maoists.
3. The statement that "Hill people built an anti-India narrative" is baseless. That's your own opinion which you are presenting as a fact.
4. The constitution of Nepal was not against the Madhesi population. Had it been so, Madhesis would have opposed it. But it was only India who opposed it. Quoting the corrupt Indian media for this fact to present your own opinion is cowardly.

3) Indians working in Nepal are 3 times the number of Nepalis working in India. But State owned Indian media always talks about more Nepalis working in India. Government data shows the fact.

Why do we hate India, not Indians ?
I was in love with cricket when i was a child. CKS was my fav IPL team and India was my fav team and loved Indian team in 2011. I almost felt like my country was winning. I had that level of love towards India but now I don't. I was naive to think that India and Nepal have relations like brothers while its like an abusive couple relationship in reality.
After learning all the past incidents, agreements and interference of India that occurred in Nepal, now I don’t like India.
These are the following reasons:
1. India bullying Nepal on the border due to lack of Strong Military and politicians attention on terai regions.
2. India interfering at every major Nepal decision and politics.
3. Death of the late king Birendra, or say assassination of his family was lead by CIA and RAW because he wasn’t a favorable person for India.
3. 2015 blocked after earthquake
4. Creating border dispute on Lipulekh and Kalapani even though it belongs to Nepal, just because it is a strategic point and leads to mansarovar.
6. And more I hate those politicians that sign treaties like Kali and Koshi river from Nepal side that favored India only, killed the only few industries that were here in Nepal to get commission from Indian companies.
7. Indian media is just worst, its like the Iceing on the top.
If you ask an avg. Nepali to tell them about their fav singers: Atif and Arjit comes on top, fav cricketer: sachin, dhoni and virat comes on top, fav god: shiva, krishna, hanuman and ram comes on top, we love south movies just as much as you guys. We have a lot more in common but the hate is not towards Indians but on government.
Lipulekh lipulekh and kalapani belong to India as they were signed off by Nepali king as part of British India. It's that simple.

At that time the kings were kept as just ceremonial , they don't had absolute power but when democracy came in nepal in 2007 b.s.the king supported india and nehru gov . I am an Indian. But after reading all the comments I realized that Nepali people are actually much better than Indians. I feel proud as an Indian but some of our behavior makes us feel guilty. I will pray to Goddess Durga that all the people of Nepal live in happiness, peace and prosperity and the people of India should also not have negative feelings about Nepal. A loving relationship should always remain between India and Nepal.
Madhesi people predominantly speak Maithili, Bhojpuri and abadhi not hindi . Although regardless whether a person is from hill or terai do understand hindi at some extent.

A very insightful podcast. I have been on both sides.... born an educated in India and further pursued post graduation in Nepal...I was also initially shocked to see the difference. While in India always surely was polarized against Pak but when I arrived here in Nepal abruptly felt polarized against India. But now I am at peace after realisation that polititians are all same on both sides of the border the ..... minus which we citizens are all the same facing same problems, delima, same kind of politicians yet having a soft heart feeling for every ordinary citizens. I call out to all Indians please visit my country because it is as enchanting as your country and you also have forex advantage over us.
In Nepal having Indian origin is a shameful thing and people try to hide it. Newar people, who descend from people of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal try to hide their Indian origins. Kapali, Mali, Chitrakar, Shrestha, Prajapati all are of BIhari/ Bengali stock. In the past they were happy with being called Bihari. But nowdays, due to Maoist revolution, they were shamed for being related to Bihar, and they were placed in Tribal quota along with the Mongolians.

@@BijayaPoudel-s3h Nepal should first focus on increasing it's gdp per capita. Even after having a population of 140 crore India has double the gdp per capita of Nepal. Even in terms of Gdp growth India is miles ahead of your Nepal. And of course Nepal is no Sikkim, Goa or Ladakh. All these places are way more developed than Nepal. If India annexes Nepal it will only further reduce it's own gdp per capita. Plus taxpayers from Goa, Sikkim, Ladakh etc.. will now have to pay extra taxes to develop your underdeveloped region. Even most of Sub-saharan African countries have a higher gdp per capita than Nepal

After the economic blockade of 2015, my respect towards the Indian government started getting low. And at that time Nepal was suffering from the huge damage from earthquakes. At that critical time, the Indian government don't care and blocked the border. Many Nepali citizens were not able to cook because of a lack of LPG. Thankfully I live in a village at that time we used wood as fuel for cooking. But those who were in cities have to face many problems related to fuel and gas.
After that, Nepal's government take the decision not to make Nepal overdependent towards any neighbours. And started balancing trade and relationship with both India and China so that by any chance any one of them will do an economic blockade then Nepali citizens don’t have to face the same problem that they faced back then in 2015.
And taking the border, most of the border disputes are with India and the Indian government doesn't even want to negotiate with Nepal about the border dispute. While with China there was a dispute about Mt Everest but that dispute was solved long ago and recently Indian media talks about a whole village of nepal was encroached by china but I am not sure that’s true or not.
And Indian media talk shit about the PM of Nepal and say “Nepal china ko bik gaya ha”🙃😵💫 There are only two neighbours of Nepal and We have to maintain an equal type of relationship with both countries. If India doesn't have a good relationship with China that doesn't mean that Nepal shouldn’t sustain a good relationship with China.
We Nepali don’t hate Indian citizens since many Indian works in Nepal and many Nepalese work in India but we specifically hate those who say bad about Nepal (Mainly Politicians and journalist who spread wrong information about both countries) Also corrupted politicians of Nepal who sign any agreement/treaty with any other country without thinking about its consequences.

Bro lakhs of Nepalis come to India for economic benefit and send remittances to their family. Lots of them even study here and take full benefit of India. A country will never provide these facilities for free, obviously India will want its influence in Nepal. Nepalis are very ungrateful people

We import everything from India, from rice to bike to even our internet. A Nepalese may work in India and send money to his family in Nepal, but that money will eventually be used to buy imported Indian goods and will eventually return to India, one way or the other. Plus, most of our remittance comes from the migrant workers in gulf countries. And that remittance is also used to buy Indian goods.
So saying that Nepalese take much more advantage from the relationship would be quite incorrect.

I remember back in 2015 when I was watching Earthquake news here in India, I felt so wrong with the way media was asking questions to the Nepalese people and thought why was it even allowed to ask and broadcast here. And it was not just 1 media house, everyone did insensitive reporting. And forget about Media, even on Facebook and Twitter, the general conversation between few Indian people was toxic as hell.

I also think a lot of people in the north India treat Nepali people as second class human being. I live in the US but when I travel I purposefully avoid having to go through India. Once they see Nepali passport they always try hassle Nepali citizen. I remember Indian immigration officer talking to me saying “tu tu kya karta hai”, despite me saying I don’t understand Hindi properly. Countless times I’ve been asked to pay extra fee for luggage when I have transit in Delhi and I’m not even going outside.
Those ill mannered immigration officers behave same with Indian residents. So don’t take it personally
Thats why I prefer Uttarakhandis , Himachalis and NE Indians more than these mainlanders . Pahadi and Nepali for them is a insulting word and they have audacity to get angry when we call them biharis.

When you said madhesi people are more like Indians compared to the hill people, it doesn't make sense to me. As a hill person from Uttarakhand I have more similarity with the hill people of Nepal. I feel many Sikkimese will say the same.

I'm from Uttarakhand so when I say we have close relationship with the Nepalese I mean literally. Our people across the border get married quite frequently.

Maithil culture is unique on its own. Language of maithali has commonality with bengali, while nepali is more closer to hindi
