There should be a list of times fans of any media got so entitled over something they overreacted because if she wasn't stated as a lesbian in a game from a countrys whose government that doesn't like the LGBTQ+ communities, then this is one of those overreactions. Toxic fans make any fandom seem worse and may deter people from joining the fandom or watching the show or movie/reading the books/playing the games
If they saw her as yuri before they saw her for her character, then they clearly had no intention to actually play the game to begin with. Astra and Evelyn's story was each of them being inspired by someone to live the life their heart desires. Astra was inspired by Joran de Winter, Evelyn by Astra, even during her lowest moment, and hopefully Evelyn does the same for someone else(most a new agent for the Stars of Lyra faction).
These are creepy people who see a character design, and try to associate sexuality to it. They have issues and shouldn't be paid attention to. Reminder the same people who judge a character's sexual orientation based off of looks, don't want to be judged themselves based off of their looks.

Why in the actual gacha game do they expect Yuri relationships in a +16 mobile game? They should just go to the upper levels if they want that kind of stuff instead of raging for everything
That what happens when game companies leave relationships to head cannons and let them run rampant. As soon as the head cannon is destroyed, the fanbase start rioting and coping. This is mainly in the HSR category if you haven’t noticed. ZZZ has the unfortunate position of a hoyoverse game meaning they get the hoyoverse fanbase. And while I love hoyoverse as a company, for some reason they fanbase LOVES there gay/lesbian head cannons. As soon as a straight relationship is even HINTED, they’ll start rioting start rioting…it’s very sad.
@CaptnFlame being this emotionally invested in games is definitely bad. Shipping wars are fun but going bananas for it is crazy. People need to learn how to separate reality from fiction and focus more on reality while chilling thanks to fictional contents. Like bruh, that's what entrainment is

I'd say they do a damned good job in creating cozy pairs of gorgeous femmes, while keeping things mostly open to allow for everyone's head canon, and avoid censorship.
