Thank you for all these videos, i heard people talk about ableton being used for backing tracks before, i been using sequencers since 1990 and been wanting to update my rig, i've used several DAW's before and they all work very similar but when i started playing with ableton i could never figure it out, the way it works is so different, i saw several tutorials on youtube and i was still clueless, then is stumbled into your videos and for the first time i really got it, god bless you for that :)
Hi , thanks a lot for the video, it really answer all my question about using ableton for live worship. but I just couldn't figure out, how can i set the audio to the Front of House speaker without including the metronome, but in the same time all the musician gets the metronome. thanks before.
Hi! Thanks for the video, it provided me some tips! But i'm looking for how can i manage different vst with my O2 (same as yours). Something like layers with midi channels? :)
This and your previous video on how to make backing tracks both super helpful to get started! I'm interested in implementing this kind of setup. Is there a particular reason as to why when you add a subsequent songs that you move those scenes further to the right instead of stacking them?
Hi Michael, thanks! If I'm understanding your question correctly, it's because the different songs use different settings on the different channels. You could put all audio loops in (for example) the first four channels, but they may need tweaking from one song to the next. I can see some possible advantages of that, but as I don't manipulate the different channels in real time, it's easier for me to just create a bunch of channels. :-)
Thanks for all your ableton live vids! Very helpful- i do have a question: What if the players don't have personal monitors? Can you still apply the backing track idea without the clicktrack but routing the tap tempo to a key and have the keyboardist tap it out?
For under $100, check out Reason Essentials and Komplete Elements. I believe both offer expansion options where you could target the sounds you want to add. You could alternately start with the full versions of either, Reason or Komplete.
great video, i have a Q... Why Does My Keyboard Play the Sound Differently? i have the launchkey 49 , but when i play the keys in the computer keyboard.. actually sounds better that the launch key it self do you know why ???
Can you record the difference and post it somewhere we can hear it? Just hit the record button in Mainstage upper right corner, play both ways, then locate the audio recording in your Finder (probably Music > Mainstage>...)
Hey this helped a lot. I'd like to know how you created the notes track.. Is it an aux that you've just named? I'm asking cause when you name the master track with the BPM for each song it becomes confusing to identify your scenes (intro/verse/chorus) etc in the session view for each song and while you're triggering them with a midi controller...
Not sure why it wouldn't work. It's number number(space)bpm, for example "90 bpm" without the quotes. If that doesn't do it, I'm not sure what's missing.
You don't actually pan the metronome, you set the output to go to a certain channel, e.g. Output 1 for left channel, Output 2 for right. There's a small I/O button in the lower right corner. Highlight that and the 'Cue Mix' output setting will appear above the master output fader - that controls where the metronome is heard.
God bless you brother. This is really helpful. The best tutorial i have found on live so far. God bless you.

You did a great job, the video and sound is very clear.
thanks bro! I looked for a tutorial like this a lot of time!

It gets pretty tricky if the drummer has to play to a loop without having the metronome in his ears.

I have a copy of Live Lite... will this run all of these features you talked about here?
Very helpful! Thanks :)
Thanks so much! God bless.
You would either need more keys or buttons to trigger more scenes, or you would have to reduce the number of scenes per song.
Nice video can you help me i can setting up my alesis q25 in ableton live lite
Do you have a video that shows the whole process of making a backing track?

The notes track is a MIDI track. It does nothing except provide a place to put some text in order to keep track of song sections. Thanks!
Great - thanks!
great!
Hi, how do you manage to me the set the tempo to follow the bpm you name on the master channel? I rename it but the set's bpm does not change. Thanks

please answer me this question: does bC#D# is a chord or not
My mind is blown
where do you get your loops?
what if u have more than 5 like 10 song what do u do
how do you pan the click track to the left or right?

It's the same regardless
Came for the religion, stayed for the sick beats
can you mail my the project?
It will to some extent, but the number of tracks and scenes are severely limited. It's probably not useful for more than one song at a time.
Mmm, the videos show pretty much everything except the actual recording of full-length tracks - one of the videos does show the recording of loops.
how can i map more than 5 songs?
Well, you'd need more keys or a different system :-)
I create my own
not by themselves, no
