Yeah same here.
It wouldn't necessarily mean PSVR 2 is dead, but it'd be a pretty strong indicator that Sony has no plans to support it with first-party games. They might continue to sign deals with third-party studios like Capcom and indie VR developers, which could keep some good games coming to the headset.
It would absolutely be hugely disappointing though.

@@ghost656metal8I assume your post shouldn’t have read “would not have” meaning that they made a better headset and that proves that they do care? As a fan I love PSVR2. I love all forms of VR. As an investor I listen to quarterly holding meetings and look at business models. I think if you were interested in investing in the VR sector right now you would look at Meta, Apple, Qualcomm, Nvidia for its AI. But not Sony, they show little interest in their VR division. I hope like most PSVR2 fans that they continue to support there HMD and we get spoiled with 1st party support, or at least exclusive flat screen games ported to vr. But the more I think with my head and not my heart, I stand by my statement that Sony really doesn’t give a crap about vr. I am however enjoying it while I can

Dude, firstly I’m here to say you NEED to play Astro Bot’s Rescue Mission.
Secondly I really, really hope the new game is at-least a hybrid.
Hybrid games have been some of the best, Resi 7, 8 and 4, GT7, Star Wars Squadrons, we need more of those if we’re not getting any new AAA PSVR2 titles past Metro.
What Sony doesn't get is that potentially cutting funding for the PSVR2 stuff will only further hurt its sales. They need better marketing and more big exclusives to really push it and get better sales. Such a bummer how poorly they've handled such a great piece of tech, which worries me about the chances of ever seeing another PSVR headset from Sony. ☹️
Sony seems incapable of innovating even the most obvious shit unless their back is against the wall. It might take all these other names including Microsoft to wake Sony the fuck up to the massive demand of vr. We’re all here begging for good games.

I never had a PSVR, so i would love an Astro Bot game on PSVR2.

I have my psvr set up on my ps5, get a second hand one and pick up resident evil 7, skyrim, wipeout and astrobot. 4 of the best vr games you can buy. At this point I don't think we will get upgraded version of them so get a psvr1 and play them that way.

Just played Wipeout and Astrobot and others again recently and apart from the first headset being FAR nicer to wear imo, these games still look absolutely amazing. Just a little lower res but you soon forget that. You can get PSVR1 so cheap now I'd still recommend it to anyone, all day
@TheVRResistance the ps5 makes them look better, and the games I mentioned still hold up well, plus the sales on psvr1 games makes it worth it
Hybrid would make the most sense and keep all players happy, not that keeping them happy appears to be a priority for PS of late.
The fact that even after 15 months there's not even a hint of an AB Rescue Mission or Blood and Truth port to PSVR2 is something I find equally baffling and infuriating.
I bet AstroBot will have a VR-Mode similar to the 'Humanity' game.
People dont seem to understand, Sony having the astrobot game be included with the ps5 introduced him to a whole new audience that just wants another astro game. Its how my daughter and I were introduced to Astro. I always knew that the flat version would take priority because its being made for a larger audience and potentially a new IP for Sony. The game itslef could have vr sections, but this isnt RE4 we are talking about here. In order to make a true vr mode there would be some serious redisigning needed. I keep saying sony would need to make two seperate Astro titles. One for the masses and another for VR. But obviously a standard version would take precedence.
Astrobot Rescue Mission on PSVR 1 was basically identical to Astro's Playroom on PS5. They really wouldn't need to change much to accommodate VR.
I do agree though, the flat version will be the priority for the development team. I could see VR support being patched in months after launch, but hopefully they at least announce VR is in the works when they announce the game. Otherwise they'll be giving a ton of ammo to the "PSVR 2 is dead" crowd.
@GreyMatterShades I've seen rescue mission and no its not identical to playroom. They are similar in that they are both platforms, buy just picking up a standard platformer and plopping it down in vr, well that's not how it works or we would have gotten astro'a playroom in vr when the psvr2 first dropped.
@@jjsavior Having played entirely through both, the only meaningful differences I can see is that some of Playroom's levels are a little bit broader, where Rescue Mission's are more linear/corridor structured, and Rescue Mission has some VR specific interactions. So some effort/concessions would need to be made in the level design, or a different VR camera system would need to be implemented at certain times. And the VR interactions could honestly be subtracted from the flat version without losing too much. Neither are impossible to overcome by any stretch.
And obviously the graphics are better on Playroom, but with DFR and some tweaks to settings, I don't think this would be too great an obstacle.
As for why we didn't get Playroom in VR for PSVR 2's launch, Team Asobi would have been 2.5 years into developing their new game by that time. I doubt they would've wanted to go back to their short, free demo game to add new features.

If our caped mascot doesn't make it onto PSVR2, it'll be 6 years since we've had an Astrobot game on the platform. The message will be pretty clear if a major franchise entry is flatscreen only.

Cheers Jammy, this is probs a trick to get Sony to poo poo the claim and unwittingly announce the game for PSVR2, Sony up until now have always announced the PS5 exclusivity for hybrid games with the words PSVR2 mode included after the fact.
I agree with you, announcing this for PSVR2 with the 100 price drop would probs get things moving again, not doing that would be really damaging and just damn right stupid tbh.
Wouldn't listen to rumours, let's see what the showcase brings. People panic over every little thing. Shows how much standalone vr is behind that astrobot on psvr1 still is far too big to even run on standalone vr and still wears the vr platform crown.

Wow sony really don't give a shit about VR we lucky that there are still some good quality games being released . But I think it's only a matter of time to get a quest headset
I have owned all the quest headsets, and I currently here psvr 2 but it’s being sold tomorrow. Standalone Quest games are very good and there is so much to choose from. I also have a pc and oc r games are far superior to psvr 2.

I think it's a bit premature to panic. Reading the article, it's pretty clear the author was speculating that it's a PS5 exclusive. That's clearly informed speculation, but if someone shared stuff with them (like screenshots), it would just make sense for them to share material from the flat version as that'd be more visually impressive.
It could be a hybrid, and it's also possible the flat version has been given priority and the VR support will be patched in later. I think that wouldn't be ideal, but it's possible.
That said, it's also possible there's no VR support, or there was but it was cancelled. I definitely think it's within the realm of possibility for Sony to cancel a VR mode due to poor PSVR 2 sales, even if they'd been funding it for years. After all, they'd probably spent far more on The Last of Us Multiplayer, the Twisted Metal live-service game, or London Studios' live-service game, and those all got axed recently (along with London Studios entirely 😢).
One thing I will say is if a new Astrobot gets announced with no mention of PSVR 2 support, that would be a pretty strong indicator that Sony has no plans of supporting PSVR 2 (at least with first-party content). But it's too soon to get upset over it. We'll have to wait and see what Sony actually says/does.
The irony is its poor sales BECAUSE of things like Sony refusing to provide games. If they would just have the faith and make first party stuff I know they would make profit
@@Thegooob95 Yeah there's definitely an irony in that. I don't think anyone could say for certain that more games from Sony would've made PSVR 2 profitable, but it would've sold more headsets for sure. And not supporting it with first-party titles (or announcing any plans to support it in the future) was pretty much a guaranteed way to make it struggle.
It says we think, its ps5 and not psvr2 that's means nothing. If Sony doesn't have this on psvr2, that will be a big mistake and rather shocking.
Yeah, my psvr 2 has been collecting dust for a while now since I finished re4. Hell, my quest 3 as well. I'm not a kid so all these cartoony games just don't do it for me. I played astrobot on PS5 with my son and it was a blast. I just don't get why Sony released the psvr 2 if they were unsure if they were going to support it. Astrobot seems like a no brainer that would sell the headset. I agree that Sony will be sending a clear message to vr fans if they make astrobot exclusive to ps5 with no vr option. I'm holding on to hope for good things with wanderer, metro and behemoth. Until then my psvr 2 will continue to collect dust.
After thinking about it, are there any PSVR2 games which use the Dualsense and not the sense controllers it comes with? This could explain why this is not a PSVR2 title as all Astrobots thus far use the Dualshock and Dualsense controllers only.
Gran Torismo works fine with just the dual sense.

Don’t hate me for saying this but I don’t really see the problem with this not for the PSVR2. Because to me it’s already hard to buy a headset and a game console at the same time. And it’s a good thing to cause it was already a pain in the ass trying to get the PSVR and Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. And either way this game is still kick as even if it’s not in VR. And what’s the point of even being upset about it when Astro’s Playground isn’t even vr and people didn’t complain about that (even if it comes with the PS5 for free). Then again don’t hate me for saying this, just spitting facts

I don’t buy that Astrobot isn’t either exclusively for PSVR2 or hybrid. Astrobot has been around for YEARS (PS3 Eye Toy) and nobody cared about the character until the Mario busting PSVR game. My guess is the person that wrote the article wanted clicks and to get rise out of the PSVR community.
I doubt it'd be PSVR 2 exclusive, as Astro's Playroom was a surprise hit at the PS5 launch. I think hybrid is the most likely. The leaker was clearly speculating, maybe due to all the materials they'd been given access to showing no indication of VR. But it'd make the most sense to share flat screenshots and video since it'd look better.
We'll have to wait and see.
No psvr would legit be insulting. Not only will it prove Sony has abandoned VR but that they are legit rubbing salt in the wound too. I think this would be the final nail in the coffin for me and I’d look to sell my psvr and ps5 and move to PC

@@EyeForKnowledge. My experiences differ : I have a lot of fun with it. I love horror games and the resident evil games and madison vr are a lot of fun.
But it would be nice to have more games in different genres of course... Like more racing games for example...

Is it crazy that it's almost as if Sony are waiting for the ps5 Pro to really push the headset ? Astro definitely needs to return home to VR, Sony must know we're all waiting for the next Astrobot VR game.
I don't think Sony is waiting for anything to push the headset. I think either management didn't believe in PSVR 2 from day one but it was too far along to scrap, or they were so arrogant that they thought it'd sell like crazy just because it has PlayStation in its name. Leaning toward the latter. After all, why else would they launch it exclusively through PlayStation Direct in most major markets? I think they were concerned that scalpers would buy up all the supply like the PS5, which means they dramatically overestimated demand.
Regardless, I think anyone expecting Sony to really fire up the marketing machine and push PSVR 2 like crazy at some point should probably start at least entertaining the possibility that no big push is coming. I just hope Sony at least continues to support it the way they have been, and maybe after a price cut it could build momentum.

Dont worry. PSVR2 support is coming to pc (not 100% sure but pretty sure) so you can play pc games on it.

It's not a sure thing, it's just speculation from a leaker. They even made it clear they don't know whether it'll have VR support or not, which means it wasn't part of the info they leaked.

This is just a leak. No one knows with 100% certainty just yet. Could potentially still be hybrid title, much the the stellar RE games for all we know.
It isn't even a leak, it's speculation by someone who was also revealing leaked material. The leak itself didn't say whether or not it had VR support.
If astro isn't on PSVR2, I'm abandoning Sonys VR. I'm tired of being made a fool and defending their nonsense.

We don't know if it'll be on PSVR 2 or not yet. If you read the quote, it's clearly the leaker speculating that it'll just be on PS5. He says he doesn't know what platforms it'll be on, meaning there was nothing in the leak that said it wouldn't be on PSVR 2.

PSVR2 is a dead platform. Why would they release it to this? Maybe 10 good games for it out of like 300. They announce games that never release. They release games that are barely playable due to graphical/control issues and no one is buying it. PSVita ring a bell? That’s what this is.
