The wake turbulence correction, followed by the illustration of wake turbulence through fluid demonstration is really a nice juxtaposition there.
787 turbulence correction was pretty sweet . I'd like to see the same with it turned off with pilot correction if they could to see how effective it is . Makes it a non event .
@@EdD-ym6le yeah, it would be cool to see mini compilations illustrating specific aviation phenomena.
@@EdD-ym6le The autopilot may have been off.
@@rusty41251 Your right . I guess I assume some of the stability systems stay on like my car . I'm still steering but my awd is doing it's own thing unless I mess with it .
The correction was made by the FBW, not the autopilot.
can we all take a moment to appreciate the work that plane spotters do to bring us these great footages?
No, but can we take three minutes please..?
Yes! And a shout out for the guy recording the landing gear from inside the plane!
mhm
@@MrJegerjeg must’ve been cramped up there for him. And freezing cold too.
yeah, after watching these videos I will never, ever fly again.
That wake correction was instantaneous. Incredible!
Yes and that was with a small single engine plane.
Imagine following a A380 too close.
I have noticed that the Airforce take of close behind each other on same runway but to one side
@@markf3229 Creo que Rey se refiere al B787.
I assume it was the auto pilot making the corrections.
It wasn't a correction , the plane just flew into non-turbulent air.
The FBW system of the Boeing 787 has built in wake turbulence detection and correction. Nothing to do with the autopilot being on or off.
Some really good videos this week! That landing video from the main gear bay on a 737-800, spectacular 👌
It's been on you tube for years
@NatureOfNina well I enjoyed it thats the main thing 😄
Truth be told, there hasn't yet been a post from him that's been mediocre.
@@Silo-Ren very true
Amazing. After watching it so many times I think they need to get new tires.
Wake turbulence demo for an A380 = 12 Minutes of Aviation.
Best comment I've read in a while! 🤣🤣🤣
The shadow of the 737-800 flying over the water was incredible! 1:19
Yes!
1967 was the first flight of the 737-100 i just learned. Classic.
Now, 11,000+.
@@iconicshrubbery Wow, I didn't know that either. That's amazing! Thanks for sharing!
That Landing gear perspective was fireee!
That autopilot correction thing at 2:16 is one of the coolest things I've ever seen!
It's not a correction, it's just the plane flying into non-turbulent air.
@@hb1338 The wing dropped, auto pilot corrected it to maintain bank and altitude, seems like that'd be a correction to me.
@@hb1338 it absolutely was a correction, champ. The turbulence caused the plane to deviate from it's course, and the control surfaces made corrections to compensate.
Garuda's landing gear took 2-3 business days to fully extend - this is why I kept the camera on the FedEx DC-10/MD-10 in that infamous video you've all probably seen by now - I was expecting to get a go-around, instead I got a successful landing with a very late gear extension.
Your own video was infamous?
The MD-11, right? 😂
@@redscorpion9411 MD-10-10, actually.
Wow I didnt realize youre the one that took that FedEx video! That video is truly legendary now and the first thing I thought of while watching this A330.
Omg! It’s you???
Possibly the best 3 Minutes I've seen yet. The fire alone...................
That wake correction was amazing!
For such a simple channel, you really kill it with the content - straight to the point with exactly the kinds of clips I want to see! All the aviation news I need :D
You need to ask LA Flights for their video of an A380 experiencing wake turbulence out of LAX. Amazing footage.
The Garuda A330 also has its RAT (Ram Air Turbine) deployed.
So electrical failure ?
And now I know what a RAT is - thank you!
@@Logan11thMEU ...or pneumatic failure. The RAT is a hydraulic backup. Maybe it's the reason they waited so long before deploying the landing gear. Operating it will reduce pressure. The produced hydraulic pressure can also be used to drive a hydraulic motor coupled to a small generator producing enough electricity for basic flight instruments.
@@roykliffen9674 thats what im thinking, RAT is deployed for some reason, whether its testing or IFE, however, the video states it was flight testing the GPWS, why would the RAT be out for that?
@@CapStar362 it was all part of a previous test. they get check lists of what to test before the airplane is considered airworthy after being in the hangar for a long time. all vital systems have to get checked
That’s the best ever wake turbulence demonstration I’ve ever seen!
Great Video, Being a Retired mechanical engineer that worked for the government for almost 30 years in the industry...It's always Great to see how mechanical assemblys
Work when they need too...😊
How do you know that you've landed with the gear up? It takes full power to taxi.
By the screeching warnings and your landing gear indicator
Technically correct, but..
But you might be able to turn on a dime.
There will be lots of sparks coming from the belly of the aircraft, along with some horrendous screeching sounds as you are coming to a stop. It wouldn't be pleasant.
@@badass6.0powerstroke10 ... aluminum makes sparks?
"In the UK they drive on the left"
"Not sure that applies to runways guv."
The 737 landing gear extension in flight was pretty cool. A view point rarely seen
I love these videos, and this is o e of the best. The landing gear camera, and the WT correction on the heavy and the smoke image of the WT from just a Piper Cub are all impressive and unique videos. Thank you.
Glad to hear, thank you!
I always appreciate your weekly dose of 3 minutes of aviation!
That first plane had it's ram air turbine out on it's right wing, so if there's some engine trouble then they'll want to glide for as long as possible and let the gear gravity drop and lock into place without causing drag for longer than needed.
... true, but one should also allow enough time for the RAT to pump enough hydraulic fluid to lock the main gear side brace actuators for a safe landing. In reality they would configure the airplane way ahead of time.
On the other hand, they would also like to have time to troubleshoot in case of any issues with gear deployment.
@@SivaKanthSharma There's no time to troubleshoot a gliding commercial aircraft. You can't flyby the tower and ask them to check the gear is down. You're either landing on wheels or on the belly, and you've got one shot to set up your approach and stick the landing. Drop the gear way back earlier in the approach and the additional drag risks you not making it to the runway.
"...had it's ram air turbine out on it's right wing...". All correct except it's 'its' 2x. 🙂
@@NeonVisual what? Of course u can do a fly by.
thank you for bringing context into your videos. I saw the Garuda one posted with a sarcastic remark and out of context. things like that can really hurt the reputation of an airlines
The video title and subtitle at 0:08 made it sound like they pilot forgot to extend the gear. A bit clickbait-y.
That virgin Atlantic wake correction was impressively fast
One of your best ones yet!
Dude thanks for the videos it’s always the highlight of my day
The first clip reminds me of another clip few years ago where a FedEx MD10 also extended it's landing gear moments before touching down.
Difference is there's no Go around
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying to y’all! 💀
@@redscorpion9411 When?
this is your most interesting one yet!
The wake turbulence demonstration is so cool
Wake turbulence from a Piper Cub could be deadly… for a paper plane.
What a sight watching the landing gear touchdown
😮😮look 👀 at THAT, OH MY. Best video I have seen all year ‼️‼️‼️👍👏👏👏👏👏
Remind me the Fedex MD-10 when it extends the gears too late.
nice aviation video 😊
Lmao! I said that too! 😂
Very cool wake demo!
I think one of the best videos on the channel
Good job. Pilot corrected his/her oversight
Brilliant no lives lost!
If you look at the right wing outboard of number 2 engine kinda near the trailing edge you will see a small propeller turning. That is called a RAT. It’s deployed so there’s something wrong. The RAT can supply hydraulic power and or electrical power to the aircraft.
That pilot explains wind turbulence so effectively on the last clip ✅
❤️ Da channel 😎
1:53 when the instructor from Pilot wings super Nintendo says good instead of great 😃👍
unusually cool set.
great view inside the landing gear !!
Really a good episode!
Kennedy Steve once warned a 'heavy' to beware of wake turbulence from a Cessna departing directly ahead (with tongue firmly in cheek).
That was surprisingly cool to watch 😊
Landing gears receive so much constraints on landings ! Amazing POV
Nice episode! Thanks.
Tht was really cool, thank you!
Great video!
Great video!😸
Sweet Piper Cub/wake turbulence shot.
Great video location showing the gear.
Take care,
Be safe.
Spectacular!!!👍😁
So educational!
Great video.
All shorts of this video are perfect
That was a cool one!
Piper cub pilot showing off his good landscaping skills! SOMEBODY has to mow the lawn! 😂
Brilliant!
That wake turbulence is why there has to be sufficient time elapsed between successive takeoffs and landings.
Main gear landing view!!!!! 👍👍👍👍
The title on your video short version of this implies that the pilot screwed up when it was actually a planned test event! Still a cool vid.
Wake Turbulence correction video was cool.
Props to the cameraman for going in the Landing gear
Nice man
The first clip; the RAT was deployed on the right side wing too, so must have been one heck of a test scenario
Glad I scrolled and found someone else who saw that.
Looks like a gear extension test with the rat providing hydraulic pressure as opposed to a gear warning test (which I believe goes off at 700ft, not 500ft.)
That looks pretty clean for a 737 wheelwell.
Truths a passenger never wants to hear #27: "The centerline is only a suggestion..." Lmao😅
3 minutes of quality content
Thank you!
I miss the, often only half full, most relaxing Friday afternoon Garuda out of Hong Kong to Bali. Just in time to catch the sun setting over Borneo. The best flight ever. I used to take it quite often. Darn COVID upset flights at good times, and it's going to take a while to get it all back.
this is some good stuff..
with the pilot being off center line, he was landing in England and was on the correct side of the road when landing.
El 2 vídeo es una pasada!
Looks fine. Relax.
Shoutout to the guy in the wheel bay with his Go Pro.
3 Minutes of Aviation releases a video exactly 3 minutes long to avoid all comments on video length, gets commented..
exactly 3 minutes 👏👏
0:00 ":D What am I like, eh? Always forgetting something!"
Great videos again! Could I just make a suggestion - nearly 10% of this video is the captions on the screen, I think it would be better to have the caption on the bottom of the screen so we can still see the footage, plus it would save nearly 30 seconds of blank screen on your video 🙂
yo, first vid that’s actually 3m
Tudo muito lindo lindo amei
1:41 my landings on Flight Simulator =/
Nice video(s)
Landing in ATL on a Delta 727, years ago...pilot didn't extend the landing gear at all. As we began the go around, the man next to me asked if I heard the gear go down, and I admitted I wasn't paying attention - but we both listened to see it the gear went up. It didn't. 2nd landing attempt the gear went down well east of the runway.
That was one of the best bonfires I've ever seen.
Soooooo Coooool!!!!
I think the b737 is pretty much everybody's favorite commercial aircraft.
Hello, I'd say the Garuda A330 had a check flight (maintenance check flight in EASA language or functional check flight as per FAA) to verify aircraft normal functioning, among others the landing gear warning. It's not considered as a test flight.
That Garuda Indonesia livery is fire
2:20 I could watch this for hours
I have been following NSIDC for years, yet the trans-arctic ice flow is new information for me. Very interesting. So far we have seen a lot of talk but no political system as even started to do something to reverse fossil fuel consumption. All this renewable power generation is very sexy but every single piece of equipment is manufactured using fossil fuel--we are in downward spin. We started at 1 billion people at the beginning of the industrial revolution and in some 2 centuries we are already at 8 billion. I hope ""survival of the fittest" can evolve to "survival of the wisest!" I am 65, so mostly on my way out, let the one who follow, now aware of the situation, try to do better than we did!. Cheers!
love it when the video claims to be something it is not.
Great content as always. But I think the title of this video is a slight misnomer!
The pilot didn't extend landing gear "too late".
As you indicated yourself at 0:50 this was a test of the landing gear warning system.
I was all prepared to criticise the crew for not observing their pre-landing checklist, but then you explained the true situation!
Phew!!
I’m giving 6 points to the touchdown videos, and the extra points to the follow ups.
Are we owed 7 seconds of aviation? I vote for 7 additional seconds of Aeorsucar.
Why don’t they put cameras in the landing gear bays? I think that would be a good idea in case any gear failures happen.
Pilots already at the edge of sensory overload.
I guess it’s more likely to fail than the gear locked indicators
All Airbus', especially the A330 and A340 look like giant gooney birds. Nothing beats the sexy stream lines of a Boeing...especially the 747 and 757 !
Why would you make a header that "Pilot extends landing gear too late" then caption the video that it was a test flight meaning that the pilot did exactly what they intended to do?
Was the Piper cub clip a demonstration of what happened to the 787 the clip before?
Landing gears r d pinnacle of engineering!
