You're right, this song is purely operatic. Tarja is trained professionally as an operatic singer. I don't feel like Floor can hit the depth that Tarja did on this song.

Floor is a good singer but I think other nightwish songs sound better with Tarja. Deep silent complete and dead boys poem are some of the songs that only go well with Tarja
Not really. She could sing it operatic, but Tuomas doesn't want to abuse of her skill conveying her in a copy of previous singers. If you actually wanna have a fair comparison, watch ghost love score, end of an era with Tarja, and wacken 2013 with floor... Then speak again... Tarja was good back then, but nightwish had grown up. If you listen well Tarja and Annette almost always have used backing tracks to give more strength to their voice. For floor they rarely used it. More, the lack of versatility and power in the voice aside, Tarja also had this accent which sound weird rather often. Especially the "a" she pronounces extremely at times. Don't get me wrong I've lived nightwish from the start, I've always adored Tarja and the way she sung on the older albums. But I don't let nostalgia blind me. Floor started with After Forever in 1995 ..nightwish started in 1996...i also asked floor since the 2nd after forever album... When they sacked Tarja I hoped they would call floor... For me it was the natural choice looking on known singers and potential. Not sure if they ever called, but her Band after forever did only break up after Annette already joined nightwish... So I guess it was just bad timing. Do yourself a favour, listen well to God recordings, not these mobile recordings. Listen for real, not predisposed to not like it. Floor is better as a singer than Tarja or Annette. The rest is up to everyone preference of say. I enjoy both versions of nightwish. The old songs with Tarja are still there, for eternity you can listen to them. If for songs then life it won't be the end of nightwish, but a new beginning. If you don't wanna join you still can stay on the nostalgia train. Now, any nostalgia victim... Just don't come along saying that Tarja is the better singer, that's a clear no-go 😉 it's just your own preference, which doesn't speak for a majority
@@dragonseye00 agreed. Tarja had no range and Annette was too mundane. While Floor doesn't have that classic overly operatic sound, she more than fits the operatic aspect of Nightwish but can also give them the rock sound they missed with Tarja.
The audio quality kind of blows. Listen to this song on the Decades DVD, it is one of my favorite songs at the moment. Floors voice always chokes me up. #smittenbyfloor
