When you have a very average director like Shashank Ghosh directing a movie, he has to depend on creating enough interest in public to come and watch the movie. Old timers are going to compare this movie with its older version, which is bad enough for him as it is not possible for him to do better than what Hrishikesh Mukherjee did in 1980.
Fawad Khan, as did many other Paksitanis before him, jumped at this offer without thinking much. If this movie fails, Khan will find it difficult to get any more movies in Bollywood. That is how things work there. You are considered not saleable if your first movie flops. Ali Zafar was lucky, his first movie clicked.
To make a name in bollywood, you need patience, a Godfather and lots of luck. I wish Fawad Khan good luck. There is at least one thing going for him. He will have a lot of Pakistanis cheering him on.

Fawad' s home country interviews don't even compare to the ones in Bollywd.His home interviews are so classy,so sexy, itne mohabbat display hua between the interviewer & the actors, itni zabardast mazaa agya its not comparable to the ones being held in Bollywd & Fawad. Infact the level of class that Pakistani productions have reached qualify for Berlin Film Festival Awards & Cannes Award. Watch his shows with Mahira Khan, Sania Saeed & others to see the difference in his chemistry with them & Bollwd interviewers.Fawad's calibre is of Satyajit Rai actor, he will become another Soumitra Chatterjee of the international film industry if he falls under the wing of a good director like David Lean type of director,Aamir Khan/Mahesh Bhatt/Subhash Ghai.

Pakistani actors are just average. I have seen the few movies that Ali Zafar has done and they are all (except the first one Tere bin Laden) just average with average acting.
The main thing is: who is directing the film. Directors matter, not the actors. This is something most Pakistanis do not seem to realize. Actors learn the ropes as they keep acting. Nobody (except a few) is a born actor. Some, like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri learnt acting in an academy. Others like the Khans, just naturally learnt the craft while they were acting in various movies.
It is the film director who lifts a film out of the average genre to make it really good or bad.
The original "Khoobsurat" was really good because the director was Hrishikesh Mukherjee who is very well known and the script was written by Gulzar.
Actors are put in sometimes to create a buzz that would make the film more saleable.This is why we have a famous Pakistani being offered a role in a move so as to garner immediate interest.
I do not think Khans will do this movie with a director who is not a big name. How many have heard of Shashank Ghosh and what was the last really hit movie he has made. He has made only 3 movies in the past, all did badly.
As far as Pakistani singers being better than Indians are considered, I am not sure what this talk is all about.
If you are good, people will listen to you. Ali Zafar is an awful singer who tries to copy Kishore Kumar very unsuccessfully.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, however, is a great singer who sings sufi kind of songs superbly. He is famous in India but then you cannot compare him with some others like Sonu Nigam who sing different kind of songs, not the sufi type.
Bollywood has not had singers like the ones it had in the first 40 years which made bollywood songs worldfamous. The ones like Kishore Kumar, Md Rafi, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar etc. They are gone. What we have today is jsut average singing. Which is why even average singers from Pakistan sound better but then they still have to come to India to further their career as they have little market or means of livelihood in Pakistan.
Pakistan does not have a music industry even though it has musicians and singers. What do you do with a song or a collection of songs if you can't sell it to the vast public? They invariably turn to India to do this. They also end up singing for Indian movies as this is easier for them than to keep waiting for an offer from the now "dying" movie industry in Pakistan.
South India has still S.P. Bala who is a singing legend. He has sung in hindi movies in the past but is now restricting himself to only South Indian movies. When Pakistanis say their signers are better, they are just ignorant of the fact that the movie industry in India is huge and bollywood is just a part of that.
