I received my R performance a couple of days ago. - Love everything about it. I plan on keeping it until it dies. This car puts a smile on my face worth every penny spent. VW should rethink it's electrical plans. A devoted Petrol Head. Thank you VW!
Can we please be honest who is buying an electric golf far? I wouldn’t what is Volkswagen doing? Do they want to go out of business? This is the only car that sells.
I think gas cars will be pretty dominant for at least another 20 years, at least in US. There's almost no charging infrastructure in US cities and EV growth has flat lined if not for them almost giving them away for free with cheap leases.
They fucnking need to keep this forever, go built electric shit but this holy gral you need to keep, every car brand should do the same, fucnk goverment fuck iluminati they want to control us with electric shit. Emisiom regulation omg, what they are talking about. We all going to die soon or later so give us at least petrol performance cars!! 🫡
For now, this is it. But who knows in the (near) future. The Golf 8.5 GTI Clubsport now has 300 hp, 400 Nm, 0-100 5,6 seconds and 267 km/h top speed (so only 3 km/h slower then new Golf R)
@@robertderboss9471 Ah yes, the lightweight 8.5 R Clubsport with a manual you're talking about: so far only a rumor/tease from VW. Nothing official, yet...
My 2018 MK 7.5 R came with an Eco mode. The feature isn't new for the Rs. I've seen other videos that say it's on the R for the first time so maybe they just enabled it for the US market.
Bro is just saying some bs. Golf can’t send all the power to the rear it’s always 50/50. But 4Motion can send up to 50% to left/right wheel via its differential. At least read about the car before making a video. That’s just embarrassing
Yes it's incorrect, the 4Motion has been updated since and can send 0-50% of the power to the back. On the rear axle, up to 100% (of the max. 50% arriving in the back) can be sent to one wheel.
From what I understand that's about $75,000 US. You could have gotten a new RS3, M2, or A45S/CL45S for roughly the same money. Just curious why you went with a performance vehicle that's a class below those for the same money?
so bad preparation for the review...please don't get confused your subscribers with wrong information and have a better preparation in the future. 1) You CAN'T get mirrors in the colour of the car. Only black you opt for the black pack or bp edition. 2) Comfort mode is the SAME for MK8R and 8.5R because dumpers are the SAME. 3) You CAN'T send 100% to the rear wheels, only 50%, and with torque dist. up to 100% to each wheel. 4) Rear bumper is not "NEW" as you said, it's the same as in the 8R.
To add to the list: 5) the top speed is not raised for the regular Golf R - you need the performance pack or the black edition 6) you don't "get" real carbon with the R - it's a pricey option I'm sure there's more to be found in this "review". It seems this guy slept through the press briefing.
I was considering the 8.5R, but for just a few thousand more, you get a 24 RS3, or CLA 45S or if you prefer a hatch A45S. I can't understand why anyone would buy the Golf R when those far more powerful, better looking, better tech, and more luxurious cars exist for just a little more money

A hybrid for the Golf 9 would be cool. Corvette E-RAY style. Most of the world is not ready to deal with a full electric.
100% agree, they already have a plug-in golf hybrid.
If that system couldn't fit due to the awd, I'm sure a mild hybrid solution would work.
Can we please be honest who is buying an electric golf far? I wouldn’t what is Volkswagen doing? Do they want to go out of business? This is the only car that sells.
Blame the governments and emission regulations.
Unfortunately, the future is electric. Gas stations will go bankrupt as well .

@abdeltitif9780 this is a lie you've been told.
Well just ordered the last new vw golf I’ll ever buy !!
Volkwagen is killing itself if they go fully electric
Are the seats still ventilated?
When is the 2025 Golf R arriving in the USA?
Massive upgrade and a massive screen 🤣 clearly an afterthought.
Hi , do you know If there will be a Golf 8.5 r with more horsepower, Like an Clubsport?

It would be a shame to end the ice r after the mk8. We need a mk9 to make up for the mk8 crap they put out. It can’t end like that 😂

I will go head and buy 10 golf 8 and drive them when everybody has electric cars .
Just ordered black edition and with add ons it’s £58k 😂 i just couldn’t stop adding them

VW ever heard the saying "Go Woke Go Broke" might want to reconsider that move.

I could not ever see myself in a stupid electric Golf R. 🤢🤮👎
yeah. if i really buy EV, i pick telsa for sure for credit and discount in the US...

Because they’re not new !
@butchmeister80 what's not new? MK8 Golf R loaded right now is $59,000. 2024 RS3 I just got was $66,000

The best and last vw golf I will buy !!
Won’t be buying an expensive milk float ever
So probably the end of vw if only electric available 🪦🪦🤦♂️
I guess I'll be getting the 8.5, then will never look at another R again. Unless they come to their senses and stop with the EV insanity.
Volkswagen lost me on the MK8. The 7th gen R is the last great gen for us longtime VDUB enthusiasts.
@@RDriver2.0 Why was that? Them going to haptics and no buttons for everything?
Electric? Where's the fun in that🏎
It's missing a pedal
Who tf would buy electric golf r lol
Laughable..if it ain't gas VW won't sell any
I’m blocking your channel because I don’t wanna see any electric car propaganda
