I remember back in the days i was waiting for this song to play on KROQ so i could record it. These kids these days have no clue what we had to go through lol..
Brings back memories of my 1980's teenage years, in California, when I lived in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains. At 3500 ft elevation, I got a reasonably clear signal from 91X out of San Diego, and would twirl around my room whenever this was played.
Glad to find such a pristine video from 1983. What a legit guitar solo from Richard Barone! He’s a brilliant singer and songwriter but I didn’t think of him as a lead guitarist. Too talented, clearly.
This was another hit or miss video seen on MTV since it received only light rotation. I have done a lot of research on light rotation entries from the Billboard archives and this was one of them.
This music video was pretty daring and groundbreaking in its portrayal of taboos and the hectic process of puberty. It doesn't shy from the visuals either. This would NEVER be made today and it's no wonder it was shunned by the media companies, even MTV relegated to play this video after 11pm
I love this song and I've been streamlining it a lot lately. Usually it's while I'm driving. I'm watching the video and there's a story. I wish there was an interview with these guys about this very video. The Music is Very Beautiful. The Video Creative
I remember seeing this group for the first time here in Chicago. It was early 80s. Biddy Milligans I think which is no longer there. Anyone remember that joint? I saw it with a good college buddy of mine who was originally from NYC which is where this band is from. Lo and behold a few years later I was in NYC with this same bud and we saw the Bongos again in their native hometown. Will always bring back those memories. To be young again!
Hi James this is rob stoner from Roxbury HS. Love this music video. Are you still touring? I was in touring choir with Mr Beavers. I believe you went to Canada with us.

HAH! I say, HAH! I thought that the lyrics were, "I got a number when it rains"! Not only that, but I also thought that, "Barbarella" might have been a Siouxsie song.
Think of the number as the number most closely related to you, for example your age. Then think of what might give your age wings, like ascension or metamorphosis.
@@RichardBaroneOfficial I still don't know why you guys didn't blow up. I think you were just as good as U2, Simple Minds and most of the big 80s bands. However, when I run into someone I know whose heard of The Bongos, I know they're cool!
One of the best pop songs from the 80's. The Bongos ruled my world back then!
Shout out to Janeane Garofalo love ya babe!!! RockNRoll!!! 🤟❤️
She brought me here. 🖤
We love Janeane Garofalo!

I liked it better back then. These days most people do not even know what good music is.
KROQ and LIVE 105FM; once the 2 best radio stations in California!
Of course....just enjoy it now in the few years we have left
@@prr665 of course....and 91x. That was the glory days

It was a very happy decade overall.

Early 80’s, 91X, USMC @ Camp Pendleton.
Me too!
Saw every tour The Bongos played in California. My favorite. The Theoretical Club in Silverlake! The club lasted about six months...
Still excellent!
Love this song they don’t make music like this anymore the best years of my life!
Thanks Janeane Garofalo for introducing me to this song!

Still have this LP somewhere. 2024!
I no longer have my cassette tape, but I played this to death in the 80s in my '65 bug.
I only have the EP
i have 'em all...

Wow! Thank you!
One of the finest voices ever. Why couldn't I have that voice?

💯% Agree!
i think thats the singers mom in the video, great song even now......
Nope... it's not my mom. It's an actress. When we made the video she was on a TV commercial as the "Ty-D-Bol" lady.
Brilliant tune! Number one song in my heart.
love this song!!
Incredible song

I lived right across the street from Biddy's right around 1989.
I lived across the street from Biddy Mulligan's for a couple of years.

James is currently on tour with Alejandro Escovedo.
First and only time I think I ever heard this, was on KPOP, in Roseville, California. KPOP was New Wave. They were awesome. Became 93 Rock.
Fun Facts: This video features Master Bates from 'The Toy' and the lady's hair catches fire at the end
😆 Master Bates !
This song brings me back my school days in Peru, love it!!!
🎸🎸🎸😎✌️
Remember seeing these guys on cmc in the earlier 80's
Hey I’m gonna hear Richard play at my friends bkyard concert in LA this weekend!!🎶🎸🎸🎼
are you shittin' us?!!! i would fry my hand on a BBQ grill to have seen that! how do you know Richard?
I love Modern Rock!!
Did you ever catch them live?
@rodoza66 I have not. I was too young.
I spy
I see through everything
But I know
I don't know anything
And on cold nights
My soul is like anyone's
And on slow nights
I'd forgive anyone
I've got a number with wings
I've got a number with wings
Time flies
Hands of the hourglass
Getting born
Watching the seasons pass
And on cold nights
My soul is like anyone's
And on slow nights
I'd forgive anyone
I've got a number with wings
I've got a number with wings
I know
I'll live through everything
But I cry
I'll cry about anything
And on cold nights
My soul is like anyone's
And on slow nights
Well, I'd forgive anyone
I've got a number with wings
I've got a number with wings
I've got a number...
I have the album.
Great Song
Este tema , de the bongos, sonaba duro en las fiesta de la new wave, y hasta el dia de hoy suena en la radio.
Classique

very early ,MTV, babysitting Adam. broke up all the monotony
Great song. Silly video.
There's Flick! Before the flag pole stunt.
what is a number with with wings?
Good question!

A joint with Coke in it.

Ricard, please tell us what the song refers to? It's boggled me from the beginning.
Good song, not sure why you would use scott schwartz in a video though...lol
The girl looking in the key hole was acting weird.
Imitating various british bands
No, we were not.
