    Peggy, thank you so much for that information! I've seen many videos of RUclipsrs ordering plants from Thailand just to end up disappointed with dried up cuttings or ragged plants, so i have been hesitant of ordering internationally other then once from the UK for a lineari which arrived in good shape. The seller packed it in a bubble envelope in way where it would not be detected as a plant. Of the three years that I've been a RUclips houseplants fan, yours is the first detailed, informative what we all need to know in case that's a choice we decide to make video. Thank you so much for sharing!

      Hello Dee and thank you for the feedback. It's great to hear that the information is helpful. I remember when I first started buying internationally and had limited information. I knew nothing about phytosanitation certificates or where they came from. I'm happy to share what I've learned.

    I ordered some Hoya caudata from Denmark a month ago and I was so scared it would come dead as it was in the mail for almost two weeks with no heat pack. It also had no phytosanitary so I was lucky to see it come in one piece without a problem.

      Glad that transaction went well. I just can’t order without getting a phytosanitary cert. Just my luck my plant would start a new plague or something.

      Oh no! After getting all excited to get your package, what a disappointment. That's why I always pay for the phyto certificate and go through legit sellers. It's tempting sometimes no to pay the extra, but at least this way I know I will more than likely get what I paid for. Better luck next time. Thanks for watching!

    I have never even ordered plants in the mail in the US. New to all that in about the past year or so but I would be so nervous about doing it internationally for fear of a loss. But I would love to have a giant potho like you found near your property so that to me would be worth trying to purchase. But so glad you had a great experience. Thanks for the information. Enjoy your new plant. Have a great day.

      Hello Sandra! For me, I'm still always nervous about ordering internationally due to the unknown timeframe. I'm willing to take the chance and I totally understand why other people are not. It's especially stressful when you go with a company you've never done business with. International shopping is true test of nerves! At least when you know your paperwork is in order, it helps things move along at a faster pace.

      Look for unboxing videos and reviews. If it's a name you hear often with good results, they are probably a reputable seller. Also, make sure to find out the policy if the plant arrives dead. Good luck!

    Recently bought succulents from S. Korea. I didn't know the shipment only covers the shipping from Korea to USDA. So the USDA asked if I want to pick up the plants in person or to provide a shipping label to send them to me. I was so surprised that the $90 shipping fee only includes shipping to USDA. Is this common? It's hard to communicate with the seller too, who took days to respond to an email.

    • @PeggysPlants
      @PeggysPlants  Год назад +1

      That's why I try to deal only with larger reputable international sellers. I have never paid for a shipment that stopped at customs. All of my international purchases have been delivered to my door with no additional charge. In short, no, this is not common. Best of luck!

    Hi Peggy! I want to buy a bunch of flower seeds from mainland China to Hong Kong,
    1) the app (tao bao) doesn’t allow me to purchase unless I change the shipping address to the transaction point (shenzhen, mainland China) due to laws;
    2) the shipping company doesn’t support plant packages
    3) customs doesn’t allow it
    That’s a lot of legal work and I have no idea what to do, can you help me out/ any advice?
    I know it seems stupid but it’s a large amount of seeds at an insanely cheap price + i can’t find that species of plant under $700 here and that’s way too expensive :’)
    Thanks!

    • @PeggysPlants
      @PeggysPlants  3 года назад

      Unfortunately, I can't be of much help. Different countries have different laws. Personally, if it is illegal to import the seeds, I wouldn't do it. Too much can go wrong. Maybe you can find another source which would allow you to import seeds legally. Best of luck!

    Is it normal to request a refund confiscated plants?

    • @PeggysPlants
      @PeggysPlants  4 года назад +3

      In my case, the plants were just not included with my order. They weren't confiscated. My thoughts on that are if you have purchased the phytosanitary certificate (required by US customs) and the seller has packaged healthy plants, they will not be confiscated. If you don't purchased the paperwork required by customs and your plants get confiscated, I would not ask for a refund. If the plants were confiscated because they weren't healthy, yes, I would request a refund.
