Arcade Creek Cleanup @ Norwood Ave 21.0, 6/23/24

On Sunday morning, we returned to Arcade Creek at Norwood Avenue for our 21st cleanup of the area. We focused on mopping up the same spots where nearly 35,000 pounds of trash was removed last Wednesday. There is just so much still buried in the silt and clay, and scattered in the vegetation.
We welcomed 2 new volunteers, William and Nancy, and got to work. It’s a labor of love, but we always focus on just looking for 🎶Nothin’ But a Good Time🎶.
After our 3 hours were up, we had amassed 2 gigantic trash piles and stuffed 2 Forensiclean trailers and pickup beds with about 8,500 pounds of trash, debris and loose metal. We always separate the metal to help Forensiclean with recycling. ♻️

That scenario is very common with lots of things we find in our waterways. Also, items that people set out on the curb as "Free" end up in unfortunate places as well.

Great turnout , so much stuff out there still. Arcade Creek @ Norwood is one of Sacramento’s dirty secret. City officials have turned a blind eye on all the disgusting trash been allowed to be dumped there. Thank you to our amazing volunteers!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
