- What is meant by the terms conjunct and disjunct in relation to melody writing? We listen to and look at one melody written entirely using conjunct movement and consider its merits & weaknesses. We then do the same in relation to a melody written entirely using disjunct movement. Finally we consider a melody written combining conjunct and disjunct movement and evaluate the best way of doing so. This music composition lesson will enhance your ability to evaluate the construction of a melody in terms of conjunct and disjunct movement and will help you to compose successful melodies.

Our American Star Spangled Banner is quite the disjunct melody that comes to my mind. That is a ridiculously hard one to sing.
Great lesson with my coffee.
Thanks again.

What came to mind for me was two well known themes by Beethoven. The Ode to Joy from his ninth symphony is almost, but not entirely, conjunct, and the main them from the last movement of his sixth symphony is almost, but not entirely, disjunct. (Even better, the main theme from the second movement of his seventh symphony is largely on one note.)
Good examples

@@MusicMattersGBhi, I have a random question if you don't mind me asking. Does C major and A minor have the same supertonic? I know it's D in C major. Is it B in A minor or still D since all the notes are the same in relative keys?
@ELLIOT8209 In A minor the Supertonic is B.
