Zelle. A Canadian couple (who recently canned their PP) turned me on to this one. Supposed to be super easy and uses no middleman. It’s in the app store. You just need my email: scottykerekes88@gmail.com
Glad the motor exceeded your expectations Scotty! Always took pride in taking care of that one while it was in my bike. No doubt it’ll carry you for many miles. Keep the shiny side up brother🤘
I had a couple of gold wings that had over 500000 miles that still ran strong when I sold them . Regular wear and tear but both still had the original motors. I rode them daily with no real issues.
Took Joe Sparrows 1800 Wing for a ride. Half million miles on it. Bike was fucked up! Original motor but it drank a lot of oil. Hed had plenty of breakdowns too.
@@scootertrampscotty Now I have an Electra glide because I don't ride as much as I did in my younger days and it runs fine, it just gets a little hot at stop lights in the summer time.
Hey Scotty...good things happen to good people...looks like it's all working out for you...praying for a good result. Dave G. - Camp 5. 😊
Emery is my best friend and Save A Warrior brother. He is one heck of a nice guy. So glad I got to speak with you on the phone. I have learned so much from you. Isn't it awesome when life just seems to work out? Love ya brother keep on doing it. Charlie on a Harley.
It was really great staying with them.
Just broke the bottom of my 03 ultra twin-cam in Little Rock on a ride back home to Knoxville. Thought I just lost the crank sensor so uhauled it back home. Sensor came in the mail yesterday so pulled the old one out & removed the oil filter and found metal debris on the top of the filter. Only 35k on the motor and changed the tensioners last winter and everything looked good. Just riding along at 70, life is good and suddenly bang, bang, bang, motor gone.
Thats a wierd one.
Damn it Man 💔
Happy to hear you didn’t have to sell your bike.
Damn! Looks like you scored a great deal. Glad you was able to find one
1998 casting is as good as it gets. Awsome find scotty. Just my personal experience.....even though there isnt much difference in frme from 91-95 vs 96-98, the later frames geometry is way more comfortable on the road. The earlier 90s fre feels more like your on top the bike and later feels like your down In the bike. I have several sitting here complete and stripped down to the frame to sit on and compare. The later the better. And 1998 is as good as it gets for evo.
Glad to see that you found what looks to be a good motor, locally. Hell of a lot easier than waiting for the one from NC to get shipped, and cheaper over all as well. I think it is smart to get another bike ready and waiting in the wings, especially since they are going to continue to become harder to find and more expensive as time goes on. Good luck, brother! Looking forward to hearing the full story!
Don
Scotty, you've got a great attitude. Most guys would be losing their minds having to foot the bill and do the work of putting in a new motor. Good for you.
One can cry and complain or not. Either way he has the same problem. This place has been a GREAT adventure anyway.
Glad to see you found a motor! Hopefully it works out!!
Thank God ur getting it delt with. My old Evo has the cases split and a full rebuild. I lost a lifter right before Sturgis so I couldn't make it to camp 5. Been 40 days it's still not done. Keep ripping Scotty
98 is considered one of the best production years. For quality, reliability build.
That's great news ! Motor looks well taken care of . Best of luck 👍
Good to hear thanks for the update.
Great positive attitude. The full story would be super interesting. Good luck!
Sorry about your issues but anything mechanical will eventually break down. Best of luck with the engine install. If you should purchase another motorcycle you might want to consider keeping your old bike, it has a lot of history and could tell a lot of stories. I own a '98 heritage, best Harley I've ever owned. Very simple and easy to work on.
I'm so thrilled to hear you found what looks like a great engine! That bike is awesome and deserves another 100k!! Keep the rubber side down brother.
Glad to see you are getting it sorted out.
Thanks for sharing this EVOLUTION video Gypsy Nomad.💪🏾
Glad you found a possibly decent motor. Count your blessings this didn’t happen in Mexico…far less options down there.
What you said about going backwards with a twin cam is right on the money. I had an '02 Road Glide which as you know was the last year of the Timken bearings and forged crankshaft. That allowed me to put the gear driven 510 lift cams in it. At 104,000 miles that thing had compression of 155 in each cylinder and ran like new. In my opinion that 2002 was the last of the good ones. I do believe in changing the oil a bit more frequently than you but you seem to do OK for yourself so no grief. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find just what you are looking for in a "new" bike.
Hmm, Joes got a new Honda. Just replaced the clutch and an $800 shock. Interesting how motorcycles ware out when u ride the hell out of them.
Hell yeah Scotty! Stoked for you!!! You are gonna be back on the road in no time!!!!
Glad you found one. This is the kind of adventure (not knowing what will happen) most will never know. Glad you didn’t end up touring on that Honda Cub 95cc!
Glad yur getting things worked out. See ya down the trails .
another entertaining video, thanks scotty, your videos are REAL reality tv,I'm about to go over to paypal and send you 20 bucks,to anyone who wonders why i would do that, think about it,you pay for netflix, cable, satellite tv,your videos have given me a lot of entertainment,,,,for free! lol, time i paid up! keep em coming scotty, good work!

That’s a good looking motor, I hope it runs equally as good! Glad to hear your problem is getting solved. ✌🏼
Well done nice motor hope it goes well keep us in the loop I love this stuff!!
Its been a great adventure so far!
The "newer" bikes might give you some trouble free miles, but when a fuel injection, throttle by wire bike does break down, you will spend a fortune getting it fixed. At least with an older bike most of the parts are readily available, and they're easy to diagnose and repair. I'll stick with my EVO. I had a 2003 Twin Cam, fuel injection anniversary edition Fatboy, I loved that bike. But I couldn't do anything to it without going back to the dealership, to get the computer reprogrammed.
Hey Scotty been following you for awhile. Maybe even a year or two. Found you again when you visited the KRiver camp ground at Adams compound. We met back in oh I wanna say 08-09 at a Harley junk yard in Riverside,CA I’m sure you won’t remember me. But either way glad your still kickin around. I was a young man and the story you told me blew my mind. We all think we are “bikers” and then there are guys like you. Keep up the great work bringing awareness to these sleepy little folks out here in this crazy new world. Btw I’m in the land of the free. Southern Oklahoma thank god right. I’ve got a comfy car port out here to camp if you need a free spot. Take care and don’t eat to many bugs. 😊
That was Tims place in Riverside. He died a couple years ago. Anyway, since i have a little dispute with CensorRUclips, ALL my work, and some new vids, are still up over here:

Emery is an awesome brother.
Hi Scotty,
Glad you got your motor problems straightened out.
$1400 I think that's a good deal. It looks clean. Not like it was cleaned up, then brought over to you, but it was out of out well cared for motorcycle.
That looks like a good one, The one on my 96 Road King has a carburetor.
Glad you found your motor. Save travels!
Glad to hear you are taken care of bro!
Nice and shiny on the outside. But I'm always a little leary about what counts on the inside on a used motor. But you know that.
I bought my one and only used bike with 10k miles. Looking at the oil, it had obviously never been changed. Luckily, it wasn't ruined and worked out okay.
Good luck
My experience is that oil changes are overrated anyway.
@@scootertrampscottycould be. But when there's an obvious change in the way it runs, the oil is too old.
I have bought three copies of your book. Loved it. Gave a copy to my son and my son inlaw. Good news about your motor.
Right on brother glad to hear you got a motor!
Great information video
Glad u got that 2 Nd Engine..Good deal hopefully all is good👍You are a heller evo technician.Thats insane that lower end last that long .Good luck 👍😀
I just resurected a first year evo FLT from the dead recently. The main weak spot on those (other then the plastic breather gear) is
the first year cylinder studs. I remember hearing years ago about head gasket & base gasket problems with those.
I built the motor with the original 84 female studs w/ only 27 lbs. ft. of head bolt torque. as oposed to 42 lbs. on the later ones.
So far so good. I read the late model evos turned the cylinder studs upside down w/ the shoulder on the bottom for better head torque.
I recommend making sure that motor has a metal breather gear when you can. I've seen a plastic breather gear collapse & grenaded
the motor. Good luck Scotty
I put a steel breather in it. Runs great so far. U can simply turn the studs over. Same part number.
Thanks for the reply Scotty. When I built that motor, I was looking for a cam. The motor is just a stock 80"
with 8.5:1 compression. I tried the Andrews EV13 to see how it would do. Andrews said it was for heavy
bikes & two up riding & side cars. For a stock low compression motor, this thing pulls nice.
I recommend it. I'm curious to hear what cams you like.@@scootertrampscotty
@@toddk.5873 Ive had the EV 23, 13, and 27. Defiantly like the 13 best.
New doors always open just got to go out and look
Nice motor. If your motor was going to blow, it picked a great time to go. Right time and place so to speak. Could have left you out in the middle of nowhere with nuthin but a cell phone. You’re in a shop, tools whatever you need AND a great lookin motor. I’m thinking this situation is going to have a good ending. All the best Scotty. Thanks for posting.
Looking forward to your videos next year.
Theyll be here sooner.
What a lucky break! FYI- after replacing those plates and springs I’m getting the best mileage I’ve ever gotten on this bike.
Glad you got another engine for your bike it looks like a good one. Hope it goes well. Stay safe.
The beauty of the old evo Harleys is they are easy to maintain
Things are looking up, hope it continues. Being on the road with breakdowns isn't fun, hopefully your network of friends are there for you.
I got a 1995 Electra glide love that old girl. And she is carbureted the only way to go.
Glad to here your videios again
Got ALL my old vids and a few new ones on another channel. Heres a link.

Happy for you Scotty!!
It was so easy to ditch that first gen fuel injection, too.
Really hope that engine is as nice internally as it is externally. Good luck with it.
Way to roll with the punches Scotty! Your a legend.
Good to see you're al sorted Scotty.
The unshakable Scotty. Good news.
Hi Scotty Yes please do a video on the Engine stuff you're going through. Cheers mate.
Yea Scotty Looks like You got a good one. Looks nice and Clean easy swap out Bam !
Happy trails, Cowpoke
Man looks like you lucked out! That second engine looks good!
Hey hey, good news Scotty! Especially the Mexican food for lunch!! 😂
Hope it's as good as it looks.
Good luck to you Scotty.
Scotty; you are a trooper!!!!!!!!!!!!!! glad you found suitable motor. Are you doing all the work yourself? Good luck to you. safe ridin rubber down
Ho else is gonna do it?
your in a motorcycle repair shop!!!!!!!! I thought you might work something out with the shop to get done faster, to help lift out and in frame!!!!!! I personally won't let anybody touch my ride with a tool!!!!!!! best luck to ya
I'm up on the North Shore of Boston. We used to get parts and stuff from Grimm's bike shop. I'm wondering if it's the same guy? I did a lot of shopping last year a found my Electra Glide Ultra in Pennsylvania. 24k, 97 with a carburetor. Pretty good buy I'm my mind at 5500. They're out there, just have to track them down. You're probably a lot more connected than I'll ever be. You'll get it done, you always do
Glad to see you found a motor,,, looking forward to the whole story.
It was definatly a good one!
Damn that second evo with the chrome rocker covers is nice man.....
A guy I know just got a 97 Evi fat boy with only 1800 original miles! I didn't believe it until he pulled in my driveway, thing is mint. Not a scratch on it. He never rode a bike before let alone a harley and this is what he gets. Fucking crazy man I tell ya. I offered to trade him straight up for my 2004 road king classic with upgraded tensioner and he said no way.....o well..lol.
Love your channel and what you do scotty I always thumbs up man....
Can't wait to see this motor in your bike.
Glad you were able to get a newer engine. Should last a long time. Hopefully the install goes well. I bought my '95 Electra Glide Classic with 95,800 on the odometer and I just hit 101,000. Other than the mufflers I believe the engine is entirely original and untouched. I will probably do a cam swap and some other minor things when I get to 125,000 just for good measure. Lifters will probably need replaced by then anyway. Looking to run the original bottom end to 200k-250k before rebuilding. I am really loving this Evo!!! BTW in the last segment of your video, I noticed a giant camshaft in the background with 7 journals on it, looks like it is a V12. Would love to know what that came out of. Take care my friend!
I havent even noticed that thing.
If we throw Scott some $$$,
He can have gas money after that engine expense!
Ride Safe Brother!
If u find a evo 93 or up, change INA cam bearing to a Torrington bearing and replace the lifters.
I am in Michigan. If you can connect me with the guy sailing the bike I can buy it and hold it for you. Just pay me back in spring when you come to pick it up.
Really? Give me a call or text (no voicemail please) would u Miles? 605-430-8801

Damn, Man's got engine's just falling out of the sky, blessings from the bike world, hell if I had an engine ready to go for you I'd give it to you Scotty, but the only one I got is powering my FXRT. With everything I've learned about the scooter tramp Life you've earned a Free one brother 🇺🇲👊✌️
Great you got a motor that will be good,,Scotty ...hope your travels are going well for the winter,,,was Pan Billy not at the rally this year,??,we are all getting old,,,I went through Sturgis the first Sunday,of rally was so hot and busy,,,hope to see ya next year, take Care,,🌲🌲🇺🇲👍😎Dave...

Hey Scotty. So glad things are goin better than in your last video. If you ever need any assistance in Hickory, NC area with looking at or picking up a low mile Evo FLH, I’d be happy to assist. I’ve got old diesel pickup and trailer. Probably little over an hour east of Asheville which I’ve heard you say for a buddy there. Side note - got to meet you up in Sturgis this year, you and my wife took a good picture together.
Shes probably cuter than me. U autta send your phone number. Left mine in the last video.
Sweet 😮
It's just plain and simple Survival on the road, thank you scotty ..something off topic I saw a man in Bahamas airport from New Zealand that could of passed as your father..pretty freaking kool ..didn't want to seem any weirder than I already am and take his pic..just had thoughts of you in Bahamas..lol.not sure if DMV gave you my information..we had a great time oc bike week was to short ..peace same goes for you as him ok
Heres my email: scottykerekes@yahoo
I've thought about a 98 customs because of the new clutch basket to learn with my twin cam 04
For what it’s worth, Kaplan in CT has a low mileage ‘98 for sale in great shape. Pricey at around $8K though.
You got it made 👍
Are you going to Mexico in trust of a new moter. great to see it worked out for you. One year I'll catch up to you later. My bike down with head breather problems and I'm low on money been saving for another extra bike to have extra same bike . I want 3-4 bikes as same to trade off on later. That's how I'm going to trusting.
That’s awesome Scotty Hopefully that engine is as good as it looks.
Looks the same inside too.
@@scootertrampscotty you are still inspiring people with the way you trust everything to just work it’s self out for the Best. Thanks to you I try to just not worry and just enjoy what ever happens
Please some vIdeos with the install
Nice.
Send your BIO and history to all the Harley Dealerships and see if they want it for their show room.
Hopefully you are working on another book!!! You can definitely write a book worth reading. Maybe the next one can be about your first 5 or so years living on the road
I was young, dumb, and full of cum back then. I think they were the best stories.
@scottykerekes2471 we all go through that period.. I will be 46 in December, been married for 16 years now and all I'm interested in is having a great relationship with my kids and peace and quiet. The ol lady is overrated..
I only use Heavy Hex nuts on the front motor mounts
Good news Scotty!!!
I've had 2 new bikes over 55 years of riding, all the rest were used. point is they all do the same thing, they wear out. so at less than half the cost of new, I'm ahead of the game. I've gotten low milage stock bikes that nobody changed or messed with, at a great price. keep em running.
Man... I wish you'd come northeast during the summer every now and then.
Lotta rain!
Just like champ... dealing with it......
DAMN IT SCOTTY!! Lol ! Been trying to meet you and I just went to Zion for the weekend, my motor was right behind you better not take it!! Haha! dirty Rat is a good shop does all my work… great guys… hope you’re still there a few days I’m gonna swing by…
Ill definatly be here for a few more days.
Riding from Kanab tomorrow, going to stop by before going home, live west of the shop .. try to get some sleep lol
Hi Scotty
Hellllllll Yeah. 🏍️💨🌪️👍
It sucks, but better where you’re at now than way down south of the border in between major towns.
at least Evo motor swaps are easy.. had same happen to my bike but here Down Under $3k for a 2nd hand motor..
cheers mate..
Theyre getting expensive
I think I heard Joe say his Honda with the worn clutch disks has 21k miles. His Honda has those nice, big Givi cases and room for more cargo where the gas tank usually is. His bike might have trouble with the extra cargo weight he needs for living on the road.
I was surprised that he burned his clutch with less than 20k miles too. But it looked like one pad went faster than the others and I wonder if it had anything to do with the hill climb on that logging road. He overheated the clutch and one plate failed fast.
But it gets great gas milage!
@@gregorytubbs3444
His rear shock went too. $800
Gas mileage even better after clutch job
