The story teller was a Navy Seal who Shawked hajis for a living and now he's trying to sell us some crap for mental health. He says he needed to get his mental health in order to tell stories. I think shooting and killing people, even though they're bad would have a more profound effect on the psyche than telling stories he adds stuff to, because some of the stuff he spews he has no business knowing. For example what the dying victim's last words were, or that so and so was so pleased or happy, How can he know this, does he have a crystal ball?

You could go back even further and I guarantee you in her darkest moments. Tristan's wife resents him in a small amount because she knew something was wrong and she hoped and hoped that they wouldn't go on the trip. He should have listened to his wife and trusted her instincts in that moment. Sometimes when you really really feel like something shouldn't happen, you need to trust those instincts and Tristan ignored that and lost his life. I'm not saying that it's his fault at all. I don't want to come across that and I'm not really outwardly accusing his wife of resentment. I'm just stating in my opinion if this happened to me and I begged my significant other to not go somewhere and they did and they promised me everything would be okay and the next day I find out they're dead I would be upset and after a while I feel like there would be resentment. Not like I hate you but I hate that you didn't listen type resentment. Long winded reply but that's the feeling I was getting the whole time and it takes what you were going with and takes it a step farther like you could go back even farther and realize everything about this trip was a red flag. 2-year-old and 4-year-olds should not be camping lol

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department believed the shootings and Beaudette’s slaying were not connected. The string of shootings struck fear in residents and other outdoor enthusiasts. - Shouldn't really matter at all, just adress the damn problem to begin with and take it from there at each location, but apparently the bosses are occupied with more important things like defeating corrupt officials and reform etc. Everything seems bad whatever you do or wherever you search there's a huge pile of shit leading to another pile of shit

Back in 2015 when I was 19, I went camping with a group of friends in Malibu. The campsite was super remote, between two mountains, and there was no other campers besides me and my friends.
When night time came one of the days we were there, a random dude rolled up and parked next to our cars. Remember... there were NO other campsites, we were the only ones there cause my friend booked the only two sites that were available. The dude came out and walked up to all of us sitting around the fire and introduced himself as Taft and how he was looking to sleep in his car here and asked if that was okay. My friend was a little too naive and trusting so before any of us had time to think she just blurted out "Sure!!" And Taft said he was going down to town and he will be back later. Once he left we all sorta starting thinking about how weird the whole situation was. Like MrBallen said, Malibu is very mountainous and pretty rugged to get around. There was a giant boulder literally in the middle of the road on our way to the campsite that we had to drive around.
Taft never actually came back. Dont know what his deal was but he likely saw that we outnumbered him 12 to 1 so he wasnt about to take a chance at whatever he had planned.

You’re such a good man, John. A good good man. Starting these nonprofit organizations to help people is an act of an angel which I believe you are. If it wasn’t for you many people would still be hurting and on a personal note, if it wasn’t for you I would have most likely have taken my own life long ago due to depression and guilt. Guilt from when I used to be addicted to opiates and it led me to be dishonest with my family and lose about a decade of my children’s lives when it was crucial that I’d be a part of their lives at that time. I can’t turn back time although I wish I could do that I’d have a second chance at being the father I was supposed to be but I am now. I am currently over 5 years clean and sober and have been an intricate part of my kids lives and have mended myself with my family but yet the guilt still haunts me to this day. Many times I have been on the edge of giving up and saying fk it and end it all but whilst watching your vids you had a segment at the end about depression, suicide prevention and mentioned about a therapy hotline or online counselling and it lit a little flicker of the “hope lightbulb” in my head and decided to seek therapy in hopes of relieving some of the guilt I have and the constant depression and being ashamed to be out in public as I think I have no value in this life. So with that being said, I thank you Mr. Ballen … John, you’re a good man, bro and I thank you also for your service when you were a Navy SEAL. I know the chances of you seeing and reading this are next to none but I am writing this regardless. Thank you John. I cannot thank you enough. God bless 🙏🏽 👊🏽🤙🏽🫵🏽🖖🏽

The negligence in this story is pervasive throughout multiple entities. Definitely, the Malibu River State Park management for starters. But equal responsibility lay on the shoulders of the County Sheriff's Department and the California State Police, as well as the California State Parks Department. The failure of law enforcement to investigate multiple prior shootings is abhorrent. Failures on the part of the Park Staff and the Parks Department officials to post notices and warn the public in general are nothing short of criminal negligence. If there's any justice left in this world, Tristan's family should, at bare minimum, be financially secure for at least the lifetimes of his two daughters. Furthermore, whatever parties are responsible for lack of investigation, as well as threat notification to the public, should be terminated from their positions for professional malfeasance, with permanent blots on their professional records.

Cases like this remind me that life doesn’t care what you deserve, you can live life as a genuinely good person, try to be a good friend and neighbor, good to your family and still be cut down because a genuinely bad person was at the wrong place the wrong time. It’s so sad and unfair.
Try to tell the people you love that you love them often , and don’t let the last words you say to them be out of anger, because you don’t know if that’ll be the last chance you ever get to say anything to them.

The only reason he was, is because he was unable to drive after one of his procedures and he was wanting to go to church. Our family would’ve made other arrangements for him to attend church if we had been informed of what was going on. It saddens me that my father could still be alive if only if they had been truthful.

Damn dude this is a truly heartbreaking story. I’m feeling for everyone, those girls, those two boys, the other dad, and of course the mom who was already so stressed by the world around her. He seemed like her opposite, a tether to a more gentle grounded world only to be snipped away to the heavens for her to continue her pained existence on this earth without him.

She is absolutely right to sue the campground/state park. They should have at the very least made it public.. but they're only worried about making money! He would never have gone there had he known! This is heart breaking. This woman now has to experience what her mother went thru by losing her husband and these baby girls have to experience what she went thru of growing up without a father. There's no monetary value that can be put on a life. But she can't allow them to get away freely after the negligence they demonstrated towards the wellbeing of their campers. The police should be sued as well because had failed to do a proper investigation on all of these shootings because had they done a thorough investigation he could have been apprehended prior. Completely eliminating that possibility.

A somewhat similar thing happened in a park near San Diego. A woman was grabbed by a man on one of the trails, but she struggled and got away. No warning signs were posted. A few days later, the same man grabbed Chelsea King, a 17 year old cross country runner, and murdered her.

It’s actually just memory related, the brain isn’t as good at accurately recording things like we seem to think. I think it’s likely that some not all but some of the times it’s people looking back at the situation and retroactively seeing all the red flags and later cementing those as legitimate memories. I think, just my own theory tbh.
