OK...update; It took me some time to get the graph done, but once I had it onto the paper It went very smoothly. Instead of taping the ends down, I just made a small knot and carried on with new thread when I needed it. It is great fun and I recommend trying this out.

No template, the design is your own! Using the grid lines as guides should help you draw it. Start by drawing an 8" square, then draw "points" to make a symmetrical pattern design. Wow! This manner is much more practice than use a hammer, a piece of wood and nails. I think you can save more time if you do like this video.

The size, shape and color of the sheet doesn't matter. It just needs to be sturdier than paper.

We're thinking it will be awfully hard to punch holes through illustration board, but you could try it and see how it goes!
