Loved the bookshelf tour! It would be so fun if you could do either a roundup of all the books you read during your first year as a PhD student or all the books you read in 2021!
Great vlog! Loved the book collection review! I recently moved into a new apartment and need to get a proper bookshelf for my collection! I just started my PhD journey so it's nice to follow along with a fellow academic =).
@@KaelynGraceApple Health and Human Performance. I work as a physical therapist and would like to focus my career and research on the effects of aging and exercise on the musculoskeletal system and age-related diseases!
omg I'm doing my Phd in the English dept at UCLA but taking a class with Craig Yirush in the Fall! Got embarrassingly excited when I saw his name in your book collection! Thank you for your vlogs for real they keep in me in gear ;)
Ah so excited to see that you uploaded this; I was another one who was waiting for it! What would you recommend as your essential 1 or 2 books for someone who’s just starting getting into revolutionary-era American history? Tysm 😊
This is a great video. Im from India also pursuing PhD in South Asian history. Can you please tell me what did you read for understanding historians craft. And how can one become a good historian?
Most of what I have read are about women in early america and politics so I can't think of any off the top of my head. Come Shouting to Zion by Sylvia Frey is an excellent resource on African American Protestantism
Me: *furiously starts adding books to my tbr* I aspire to have a book collection as grand as yours :) I'm so happy you finally did this! In the future could you go more in depth on your books about higher education? Also, I know this is from years worth of collecting, but do you have tips on how to build one's book collection while on a budget? Have a great day Kaelyn!
Also, Charles Beard interpretation of the motivations of the founders of the Constitution was essentially disproved by Forrest McDonald in "We the People." The errors that Beard made, however, were not entirely his fault, as the archival material that McDonald was able to use wasn't available when Beard was writing.
I've heard SO many good things about The Water Dancer! Definitely on my list to read soon. Ninth House is another one that's been sitting on my shelf for a while that I've been told is a must-read. I'm a fan of Bardugo's other books so I'm interested to see how her adult debut is. Loved seeing your bookshelves!!
Great content! Always enjoy routine type of videos and book talk!! If I have to choose one or two books about American history in general, what would you recommend? Thank you!

How about the multi volume Jefferson biography by Dumas Malone? I've heard that's the gold standard. Love your channel btw.
I haven’t found a copy that is in good enough condition to make the investment. Someday!
