@Rusty Shackleford Unfortunately the ones built by them are it, I have seen others built by other shops that were built to The Bartels plans. Find an early FXRP frame or you can buy one after market using H-D Specs and then have the front end raked, the rest is really a simple build with pretty basic parts that were tweaked a little here and there.
That does not make the bike a rigid frame. It just wrecks the handling and makes it a bitch to ride. It's also got a rubber mounted engine. Something a rigid never had.
ahhahhahahah you are right out of your fucking GOURD!!! That like Street Rod hardly has enough power for urban riding. Can that little girl bike even pick up the front end? The original bike fro HD&TMM has a S&S Stroker Kit on it, and will scare you bike back into the linen closet with a simple crack of the starter.
This motorcycle is called black death and was built in a texas workshop by its owner Harley Davison according to the movie, it is made based on a 91 or 92 low rider motorcycle, it is the motorcycle of my dreams
Yup the FXR was the best handling bike HD ever made. No wonder .... ERIC BUELL TOTALLY REDESIGNED IT FROM THE GROUND UP. Then he made his own bikes. And I have an FXR AND A BUELL.
@@beardedgremlin8117 that's what we've all been told but originally got its name from the game when wild Bill hickcock died the 5th card was never truly known but yes Aces and Eights of Clubs and Spades..... oh sure ,,very uncomfortable ,, and rigid rear suspension ,, .. for few minutes in the movie was great .. but for someone normal and ride all day .. jajajajajajajaa i don't want imagine't .. jajaajaajajajajjaaa ..
"used only original harley parts" execpt the s&s air cleaner (maybe even engine), plug wires, grips, clutch and brake covers, seat, and brakes. im sure i missed some after market parts.
Lori, very sorry for your loss. I was #2 man on Don's team who built the Engines for his Racing Boat. I assure you he's a true gentleman and a genuine great guy !!!
Thank u very much cause me and my old boss in Florida took an older soft tail & welded a plate over where the tail light used to be to make it solid than the only thing we did different than the one in the movie was we ground all the painted surfaces down to the steel and swirled them out with a round sanding but in my Dremel kind of like fish scales but not in that pattern just a random pattern than I mixed a light purple pearl dust in the clear coat and shot it over the swirled out steel I mean we copied every J-Brake part on the bike including the totally useless mirrors but it's part of the look and I was gonna air brush the dead man's hand of aces but we decided not to do it cause we just loved the look and decided it was more along the lines of paying homage to the Marlboro man bike instead of coping it down to the image but our seat matched everything so the only things different were the lack of image on the gas tank and we changed the clear coat and swirled out all the steel it was photoed in one of the magazines at the Laconia Bike week but the name of the magazine escapes me rightnow. But it truly was a gorgeous bike none the less! Just my two cents lol 😎
I had a FXR identical to that bike other than the seat and a few other things “ to bad a idiot did a turn with his shit box car In from of me and destroyed my bike “ I wanted to do something unspeakable to him but the cops were there lucky for him”
It’s not exact. The tank is (un) painted differently. The seat was brown. The pipes looked more rusted. Overall the bike looks cleaner and less disheveled then the one from the film.
Sergio... it's a FXR... probably the best handling bike H.D. ever built.. I shaved the heads 40 thousands..561. Iske Cam. Makuni carb and Thunder header exhaust.... stock 80 inch bore Evo...it would tear up any 110 CVO twin Cam
Maxim Kalaus I was 15 when I saw that movie in the theatre. on my way home that night I could only think about the bike and the girl and how awesome it would be to be riding that Harley with her on the back with her arms and legs coiled around me as we rode down that desert highway hearing the kackle of the pipes
I absolutely love this bike, I grew up loving this bike
Love the Movie and Bike . Now I have to watch it again . Don Johnson is the Man .
This song and this bike are made for each other, is like love at first sight
Absolutely
Might not be an exact duplicate of the bike from the movie, but damn, it's still a sweet looking sled.
Loess Hills Harley Davidson in Pacific Junction, Iowa has the original.
I've always loved this bike, thanks for posting!
The song is Called " Ride with Me " by a band called Blackeyed Susan !
Awsome song
Thank You! It's a cool Tune
This bike and movie are why I finally own a Harley.
Same.
Reiterates my love for Harleys
Mine was built by The Bartels, the same guys that built it for the movie and for Mickey, I had to get Mickey's blessing to build it!
Michael Smith one lucky man.
I am just getting ready to go through it and rebuild it throw the saddle bags on it and take off again for some new adventures.
How much cost the project?

Loved the movie built a replica as well took a while to source all the parts had to design the kickstand bracket from watching the movie
Fine machine. The chrome strut rod used on the rear to in effect make the bike a rigid frame (hard tail) was first seen in the 60's.
D Tittle1964 ip
That does not make the bike a rigid frame. It just wrecks the handling and makes it a bitch to ride. It's also got a rubber mounted engine. Something a rigid never had.
D Tittle1964 and they still ride like that today.atleast I do
My lil bitch XG750A Street Rod will shit all over that piece of wannabe crap.

The JayBrake controls look good. Nice work overall.

hello beautiful work !!! my respects ! a question how or where I can get that beautiful mirror for my project !!! Cheers
The one from the movie is at pacific junction harley davidson in Iowa
Black death. Immortal Masterpiece made by Bartel’s Los Angeles.
Didn't it have a dead man's hand of all aces on the tank in the movie ?
J Friedman dead mans hand is a full house of Aces and Eights

I saw original one in NYC. Chuck Zito was riding it
Different seat and rear fender as well
beautiful bike, not a comfortable ride...
