I live in St Francis Bay, South Africa home of Bruces Beauties from Endless Summer movie. I am the only one in town with an OC1 (old Hurricane) and I love it. Catch waves and just generally love being in the water. Surf long and short board as well but just love the OC1.
I'm glad you're back on the water. It is a place of healing. Keep living for your beautiful family. I told you the first crossing you put your mind to it you'll be the best. Keep reaching for that horizon and life will be the greatest adventure. My dad had that cancer in his bone and he was doing well until he decided to stop the fight. Early to mid 2000s racing OC! on Maui and living the life I remember the start of Maliko to harbor downwind and being at the gulch and seeing Kai, who was a legend on the water at that time, and making a mental note to follow him to see how it is he does what he does. I was able to keep up with much effort for about 10 minutes and then poof, he caught a wave and was gone. His ability to read the ocean and effortlessly use it's momentum was astounding to me. Life throws us many curve balls and I wish you all the best in maintaining a positive attitude. Peace to you and your family! Ahui Ho!!
