Can you imagine how much time it must take to get on his makeup, put on the full costume, then singing that Dwarf's part how ever many times needed, then taking his makeup off, putting on NEW completely different makeup, costume, singing again, and so on...ha! She just mentioned how much time Geoff (and Kathy) put into it. He puts his all into everything, and that's one of the reasons we adore him. Just a beautiful man, a gorgeous soul, and an epic voice!
When Geoff says "Low Bass Singer Cover", he means "LOW BASS Singer Cover!" This one really showed off Geoff's range, with each of the dwarves singing a different range and timbre. Dark bass, bass, baritone, tenor - Geoff manages to cover all of them. And his arrangement is just fantastic! Pick out something else from Geoff's channel - he always makes sure you haven't heard anything quite like it before, no matter how many times a song may have been covered.
Geoff always brings the feels. He is the bass with the a capella group VoicePlay who are also famous for bringing emotion to a song. Geiff and the beatboxer in VP create most of the arrangments, Geoff doing his own too of course. Geoff's range is now A0 to A#5.
It is absolutely gorgeous. Check out Unshaken, then Ghost Riders in the Sky. The 4 Ghost Riders that Geoff created for that song, are in Unshaken before they are ghosts, Geoff himself is NOT there as he thought they could capture it themselves. If you've seen his version of Way Down, you will know that he named his Geoff clones at that point and he letting them carry the song without Geoff proper. Geoff's range goes from A0 (growl), B0 (subharmonic), F1 (full chest), B4 (mix), Bb5 (falsetto in Peaches - VP short)
Now you've opened a rabbithole within the VP rabbithole. Have fun. Geoff solo/multitrack vids showing a wide range ... well, they all do, but some that stand out to me... Till Then, Wicked Game, Ghost Riders, Ain't no Sunshine, Shenandoah, Monster Mash. Also, as you may have noticed in those overlay thumbnails at the end, he previously did Misty Mountains in that same makeup array.
When he first released this, there were quite a few of us who just couldn't make it through this without crying. Especially after that one part where he takes a 'swallow' in the middle of a verse and looks off to the side while everything is lit red. As if he had gotten choked up singing. It was also by strange coincidence, that just about the time he released it, Canada caught fire with the smoke even getting down here to where I live in Washington DC. The idea of such a huge wildfire was a bit more personalized by this song to those of us commenting at the time.
Yes and when he said "we shall all die together," and looks at them all... or "I hope that you'll remember me..." knowing they might die in battle... It just GOT ME! 😭 My dad lives on Vancouver Island and they had really severe wild fires and almost had to evacuate. Thankfully they didn't... but many areas were devastated, entire communities burned.
Really enjoyed your reaction to this piece. The text is amazing and Geoff's arrangement is beautiful and incredibly sad. His range is from B0 to A5 or A#5, just under five octaves. There are artists who have a wider range, but none of them, in my opinion, has the warmth and tone that he has. Goeff started doing solo work when Covid shut the world down and Voiceplay had to stop touring. They upped their videos and Geoff started his own channel. Pick anything, but I'll recommend Shenandoah, the old American folksong.
I love Geoff and VoicePlay, fan and patron of theirs for awhile now. His highest-viewed video is "Misty Mountains Cold", which is also from the Hobbit. It's on my 'Geoff Playlist' because I'll listen to anything that man sings, but it was never a favorite of mine. Didn't hate it, it just didn't really touch my emotions at all. So when he gave us patrons a 'sneak peek that this song and video were coming, saying 'the dwarves were getting back together', I wasn't at all excited. But once I heard it, it quickly became one of my favorites. It is sadly beautiful/beautifully sad, so full of emotion and draws me in every time. Hope you'll react to more Geoff. One of my very favorite covers that he's done is 'Shenandoah', a pretty low-viewed video for him, but it's another one of his performances/arrangements that just 'feeds my soul' every time I hear it.
I have heard this many times before, but I still get instant goosebumps. I love Geoff, and his acapella group VoicePlay, they are very talented, and also funny.
🤗 I felt the same when I listened to this one for the first time! As you said elsewhere, both the VP and Geoff buses are worth getting on - it will be a heck of an enjoyable ride 😉🌹🕊
🍁🍁🎼🍁🍁 i really like when people allow their true feelings to show on their face. Thank you for not putting your guards up Mrs. Realistic. He is a beautiful singer at all octaves. You are in store for a serious rabbit hole. I will suggest - " 16 Tons " , where Geoff uses 4 of himself again. There is much to discover with Geoff. The videos are all well done. .. thanks again .. i enjoyed your reaction a lot. 🎼🎼🍁🎼🎼
Rhis song pierces straight in my soul. As I sing along with it, I tear up. What I feel: a darkness coming, but not without moving to fight it, with numbers and courage.
Welcome to the world of 'Geoff-quakes'! This is one of my favourites too, ever since I heard it the first time, he really captured the 'essence' of what the dwarves were up against, I just hope that someone shows this to Ed Sheeran! Both he and VP just keep getting better and better with each video! As others have mentioned, this was a sequel to 'Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold' - we are all hoping he does something from the third film in the trilogy! Subscribed for more..😊
He's got another of the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings w/Gimli called Song of Durin done with such reverence. Imagine (John Lennon) is stunning. With Halloween on the way, both Geoff and VoicePlay have an incredible lineup. My favorite is Jack's Lament from Nightmare before Christmas.
Already subscribed, and Like #543! I was warmly surprised by your emotional reaction! While this particular song by Geoff didn't strike ME in that way, I still love almost anything he does! As to what ELSE from Geoff warrants a reaction? Yes. That narrows it down! 🤣
@@MrsRealistic Fair enough... As I said, almost anything he does is great! One of my personal favorites is "Jack's Lament" from "Nightmare before Christmas". It's primarily solo, but it's beautiful. Two more where he plays multiple roles... "Headless Horseman" and "Monster Mash." Between Geoff and VoicePlay. you have a nearly endless source of wonderment!
I have been a fan and Patreon of Geoff for almost 2 years after discovering him on a Valhalla Calling video...then Sleepy Hollow and Monster Mash. His range is impressive and I love he tells you how to expand your range on his Patreon videos. About the only one who may have more of a range is Peter Hollins...whose Misty Mountains video floored me. 64 tracks just himself...is damn impressive and he was my first Patreon Musician...5 years ago.

Yes, so time consuming... but probably so much fun, and the end result of it all is something spectacular!
@@MrsRealistic It truly is. Geoff and Voiceplay never disappoint.
@@MrsRealistic It gives a new meaning to being beside yourself! I still can't figure out if this is actually considered "solo" work.
@@DravenGal 🤣 Good point!
@@DravenGal sure it's solo because it's all his own voice layered.

100th Like! Cool! Who else grinned when the lovely lady paused it, saying she liked his "higher range," just seconds away from him going sky high?
Ha ha! So true! I hadn't even heard the ACTUAL high part yet! LOL!
@@MrsRealistic I had such a big ol' grin on my face...I think I was chuckling wickedly too! 😉

Yes, this is how I learned about his solo stuff, was from covering VoicePlay. They're FANTASTIC! 😁👍

This group is called the Geoff-tones... It is comprised of Geoff, Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and sometimes Daryl...
🤣🤣🤣 That's a riot! Thank you for the chuckle!

Dude, I live in Canada, I didn't know we had a big wildfire
This is one by Geoff, where I am always in awe at what he did with this piece. Absolute masterpiece.
You said it! Just incredible!! 🙌
This was such a beautiful reaction it just about made me tear up too. Loved it!
Aww thank you! God bless! 🙏
I am enjoying watching you discover Geoff. Can't wait for more videos 😀.
Me too! I love discovering new artists and songs! I started with VoicePlay and now I've got a rabbit hole within a rabbit hole to go down! 😆👍
Thank you for this reaction! Geoff never disappoints! Try all of his stuff! Geoff's range is nearly 5 octaves.
I'm super excited to hear more!

I'm certainly looking forward to hearing much more!!
If you heard him talk you wouldn't think he's a bass singer...Loved the reaction but LOL WHAT!?!?!
I've heard men with much deeper speaking voices... that's all I meant.
4:29 he goes high, he goes low and he can beatbox too. The man is a walking acapella band on his own haha. Great reaction.
Thank you! Yes, and he can cook and is a great dad! I saw some really cute and funny shorts of him cooking and gardening with his son 🙌
They didn't know what would happen but they knew not all of them would survive. It's an emotional song for sure.
I can't get through it without crying. I'm a sap 😆

Exactly how I felt... putting their life on the line to protect everyone else. Heartbreaking and courageous.
Now you have to react to Misty Mountains Cold, it's a must!
That will be coming up soon! 😁👍
Two Geoff songs you really should check out are 16 Tons and The Sound of Silence. They are SO good!
Thank you!

I always have to recommend I See Fire by Peter Hollens. As much as I love Geoff's version of this song, I absolutely worship Peter's work on it.
I'll have to look that one up!!!

keep the Geoff and Voiceplay reactions coming! Awesome reaction!

A perfect song for a funeral.
Us Basso Profundo singers rarely get noticed. We usually just hold up the low end in the background.
And meanwhile...I feel like it's the hardest to sing!
At the very end of VoicePlay's cover of Oogie Boogie's Song (the Nightmare Before Christmas) Geoff shows his entire range from high to low. 😄
So cool... thank you for the heads up!
He has gone almost an octave higher and like 4 notes lower than that B4-E1 lol
Amazing how low a human voice can go...or high.
It truly is!
First geoff Castillo song I watched was ghost riders . Thought it was five different guys at first
What an epic song... I'll have to check that one out!
❤🔥
For some great comedy relief, watch Geoff doing Elvis’s Way Down.
Thanks for the suggestion! 😁
If there is a song i will suggest it is Geoff's Unshaken cover
Thank you!
I love this. I’m old but new
