You just reminded me of an actual platonic ship I've been supporting without realizing it was called like that.
My favorite anime and fictional show of all time is Steins;Gate, (don't worry, this won't have any major spoilers, except for pairings) and you better believe my OTP is Okakuri!! (a canon couple, so extra points). But I've seen people shipping Okabe with Mayuri. I honestly think their relationship wouldn't be that way, Okabe's connection with Mayuri has been more of a big brother (and maybe even fatherly) thing. He's protective of her, but he sometimes makes fun of her interests (in good nature) just like how siblings make fun of each other. Their interactions seem very platonic, and I actually thought she was his sister the first time I watched the first episode. So all this time I've been kinda platonic-shipping them, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this with some characters!!

@@breadsticksandco.8745 It is! Most of the character interactions in Steins;Gate are really good, and that's one thing that makes it unique from other anime. Some of the interactions can be so painfully believable and realistic (in a good way), especially the ones between the main characters.

It's honestly really nice seeing some wholesome and positive stuff surrounding ships/fanfics because when I first got into anime I didn't really have anyone to share it with, so geeking out about stuff wasn't really something I got to experience. And when I eventually discovered anime groups on the internet shipping was always made out to be this really bad thing that only cringey people indulged in, so I tended not to dabble in it. I wasn't that into shipping at the time so it didn't really affect me, but as I got into shipping, it got really annoying hearing people say that it was all bad when it wasn't, so I really appreciate seeing some positive stuff about it~ :))

@@Banana-Joanne No for real, despite watching ATLA religiously as a kid I only became a Zutara shipper this quarantine when I rewatched it on Netflix, and I was so excited to join the online ATLA fandom, but JESUS Kataang shippers were TERRIFYING at times, on reddit, Instagram, and twitter. I don't even know if this was common knowledge but do any of yall remember when Kataang Twitter was blowing up calling Dante Basco (Zuko's voice actor) a p*dophile for shipping Zutara??? Crazy times. I think the anti-Zutara passion is just a result of Bryke having been very against it (and maybe a lil sexist...) so it just created that environment for a while. I have since found peaceful Zutara twitter and have met nice Kataang shippers tho so all is well :), but yes I like Coley's bravery haha

Klance is the ship I will never get tired of. The characters are just PERFECT for any type of situation/universe in my opinion. Dirty Laundry was the very first fanfic I ever read (obviously giving me very high expectations from any other fic since) and even though I was mainly obsessed with them about 2 years ago, they still hold a special place in my lonely heart 😔🥰

I was shipping Bubbline before I even knew what shipping was. They were so obvious even in the early seasons and it's just so sweet.
I can see why people would ship tododeku, especially considering it’s one of the most popular pairings (looking at you kiribaku) but I’ve never been able to get into it. To me, it’s the fact that deku is the first friend todoroki has had, and I feel like todoroki needs to have that for him to heal.

There's a GREAT fanfic on Ao3 called yesterday upon the stair that has queerplatonic tododeku! It doesn't really come until the end, and it's not a huge part of the story, but it's a really good fic. It's also really nice to see queerplatonic relationships being represented because most people don't really know what it is.

Yeah, my personal take on it is if that person says they don't like being shipped or hasn't said anything about it, I'll take it as "hey don't do this it'll probably make the person uncomfortable" (the main reason I don't read/write real person fics) though if the person said that they're fine with it, then I'm okay with reading it as long as it's not that extreme. (a great example of people being not okay with shipping them with others is like Technoblade and Schlatt, and a great example of people being okay with shipping them with others is Dream and George.) omg you can just tell what fandom im in just from those examples lol (I swear the fandom is not a shitshow it's actually pretty great)

It depends, if the shipper keeps it all to themselves it's better. But the thing about shipping real people is that, especially in youtube, you're actually shipping a celebrity-image of that person and not the actual person. You don't truly know that person, what you know is an image they made of themselves for the media, a "icon" or "avatar" so to speak. RUclipsrs tend to separate their personal lives from their content precisely because of privacy. That's why it's wrong when people go too far: They don't have the right to demand that person to make their ship canon if they don't even know them truly.

I have to admit, as much as I joke about Anakin and Padme's relationship, I do love it. The music started playing and I felt feelings again.
On the note of Reylo, my sister LOVED that ship when we saw the movie. I was kind of ambivalent about it, but I remember thinking what I really wanted was for Ben to live, Rey to bring him back with her to everyone in the resistance, and it's all tense since he killed a lot of people and then he's like, "Hello, Ben here." ( Much like Zuko).
And Rapunzel and Eugene... I love it. They made me feel things and I was just thrilled that they actually talk to each other and had a really fun relationship in the series.

I'm just going to insert my little rant about how "Crack Ship" is being used to mean "Rare Pair" when a "Crack Ship" should be PURELY RESERVED for things that are so buck wild you must have been on drugs when you wrote it. So Yuri/Otabec is NOT crack. My Shelob/Battle Goat #1 Fanfic did NOT win a Hugo Award for people to call Yuri/Otabec CRACK!!!
Also I was having the same rant about Fruits Basket when people were calling Kyo/Haru Crack, and came up with Ayame Sohma/All Might/Chris Giocometti as an example of crack but it also the more I think about it the more sense it makes as a ship.... Sorry Chris Sabat....

I get you , I also get very very very obsessed when I ship . My parents don't actually know my ships and I think they won't support it ( a true but sad fact ) . If they do , I would be drowned in fanarts and other things everyday . My friends don't appreciate it tho . They don't even ship that much . And when they do , they are on the opposed team with my ship . That's again a sad fact .

when we defy the stars (ao3): soulmate au, but they aren't soulmates. Lance's soulmate is Allura and i think Keith's is Lotor. Its a rule that for some people soulmates give each other a euphoric feeling that no-one else can give you. But for some, they feel pain from their soulmate. The rule is that some people aren't meant to be happy with their soulmate. Keith felt burning pain from his soulmate. Whereas Lance feels euphoria from his soulmate. But nothing could compare to Keith.
The bad thing is, the universe will do anything to make you go to your soulmate. And if you refuse to go to your soulmate, the universe will do anything to give you punishment, even killing you.
due west (ao3): we see klance's relationship through Krolia's eyes through flashbacks. We see them in a relationship and slowly come to her about them being together. And lots of domestic moments. But as the days get closer to the present, we see the situation they are currently in. Krolia and Lance are stuck on a desert planet and are trying to survive the day, but luck is low. Thats all the spoilers I'll give, but pls check it out. I've loved it for a while.
