What destroys my brain is that we are in 2025, we can chat with an AI that sounds like a human, but if you want to use the mic while listening on a Bluetooth headset, the audio quality sounds like a Vietnam radio, wtf

Bluetooth has a limited bandwidth, it’s all about balancing.
Kind of the way mics work, you're talking away from the mic if the mic is at your ears.

I’ve had the xm4’s since 2020, using them literally everyday .They’ve survived bumps, drops, sweat, everything and they still hold up with no signs of dying anytime soon.
I've had my xm2's for over 7 years now and they're still insanely good! Just swapped the pads and they feel like new

I have a pair of WH-1000XM3 that I've never used the case for. They're either on my head, around my neck or I throw them onto a chair, a bed, a table or whatever surface is close to me. They're still working perfectly. A real workhorse.
I also have an XM3 for years now, I see no points in changing them. They're still great!
Reading this with my XM3s on and hell yeah, i completely agree. My friends have the XM4 or XM5s so i’ve experienced all the versions but damn my good old 3s still hold up incredibly well. Enjoy your listening ❤️

Huh, well I used my XM3s until the earcups dissolved 4 times each, the plastics entirely degraded, and i fixed them so many times they were mostly electrical tape left before i threw them out.

I got the Sony WH-1000XM3 in 2018 and haven’t looked at another pair since-just replaced the ear pads once, and the battery still lasts over 30 hours since I mostly use them with AUX. Can’t believe it’s almost been 10 years and the tech still holds up-still relevant, still top quality, and worth every rupee

Same, although I finally got the XM5s last October but keep my XM3s around for the gym and housework
I have the same, only the original jack cable broke down at a certain moment. I realised after that point that most jack cables of 6.3 wouldn’t fit propperly as the ‘input length’ of the cable was not long enough or the width of the plastic was to thick to make a propper connection. Anyone else had the same issue?
Same. Although I never change pads. And they are long overdue for new ones. I do have to say, if these were 100 cheaper, I would have purchased them. For 450...that's too much for this type of headphones.
It's the same story every time. One company (Fapple I'm looking at you) charges BS price for their product. Bunch of Fappists buy it regardless. And rest of the companies says...well. Since Fapple charges this much for their stuff. We can too!
I'm still rocking my M3 that I bought back in 2017. I'm litterally wearing them watching this review. I've used them pretty much every day for work and travel since I bought them. One of the best tech buys I've ever made. I could definitely see myself upgrading to these M6, regardless of the price, considering how impressed I've been with the M3's and how much usage I've gotten out of them.

also still xm3 here since the 3 was new and hot! but it does have 20 tie wraps on the thing to keep it from falling apart lol, and i changed the cushions zero times! still using whatevers left of the og cushions. i wear em like almost 8 hours a day workinig in a factory.
I dropped mine and broke them 1 DAY after the warranty was up. Never had the money to buy again, I miss them so much.

There is no information in this "review". What codecs, what latency, whether they work well connecting two devices - currently it is a parody of what Apple does.
Depends on your needs, I have the WH5 and never felt the need to have them smaller. If I'm home I wear them, if I travel I have them on me, so ye, I see their point in removing the hinge if this increases durability.

I love my xm4s, had them for 3 years and never had an issue, insane sound quality, top of the shelf NC, long battery life and surprisingly i rarely use the case because they're too compact they're either on my head or in my hand bag barely taking any more space than a powerbank, easily my favorite tech product.

mine decided to do this crazy ramp-up ringing which made me switch to the Sennheiser equivalent. I hope this doesn't just happen to all Bluetooth headphones after a while because it really erked me.
Mine made a super loud ringing noise 2-3 times. It made me scared to even put them on. I don't want to buy it again.

I’m still rocking the Xm4’s I got on sale for $200 and could not be happier with the value at that price point.
@iseeu-fp9po mine have white noise in ANC but it disappears when music plays, I just assumed it was normal because a lot of ANC in different products have that.
If you look out for deals, I managed to get the xm5s for £200. Honestly I have a spare pair of XM3s and they are still an extremely good pair of headphones for even cheaper.
I had mx4 and now it is mx5. mx4 is much comfy and stronger. enjoy!

It's not done by hand, there is a new feature in Final Cut Pro called magnetic mask, you click 3 or 4 key points on what you want to mask and then the program does the rest.
I'm an editor on another tech channel and I use that often, nice to see that people notice it tho.

I am using xm3 since 6 yrs now and they work perfectly fine. They sound the best, I can't use other normal headphones/earbuds after these. I am quite curious how much sony has improved after 3 generations. But is it worth it ? I am going to use Spotify for music not those professional setups etc..
XM5 had me worried about the direction Sony was taking but these XM6 seem to be Sony understanding the classic "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra. Personally, my XM4 are still going strong and I'll keep these for as long as they function but happy to see that whenever I need to upgrade, Sony has got me covered with these.

I’ve had my xm3’s since 2019 with no signs of dying anytime soon. The battery still lasts super long, the ANC is amazing and I have yet to change the leatherette. I wish they had multiple device connection although it’s not a big deal. Definitely worth it
Still got my xm3 also. Connecting to one device really is the only downfall to them. Still get long lasting battery life and quality sound. Will upgrade when they die on me which doesn't seem like it will be anytime soon. Xm3's are amazing
I still love mine but they're going. I have dropped them a bunch. The strangest thing is that the audio isn't getting worse, the noise cancelling is. I guess the microphones got messed up and they get feedback sometimes. But if nose cancelling is off, they still work as headphones. Weird.

Time for an upgrade for me, my XM3s are held together by black tape on both sides for a while now😅otherwise they still work wonderful!!
Also got the XM3 since 2019 and the only thing is that the leather on the ear pieces starts to erode away but nothing a 15€ spare kit cannot fix.

Getting the m4 now
The XM5s were notorious for the plastic snapping at the rotating hinges. It looks like the XM6 reinforced that area with metal pieces which is great to see.
Yeah, I stayed away from replacing my 4's with 5's because of the hinge issue. I'm going to wait a bit to make sure that the 6's indeed to resolve that issue.

It was the xm4s that snapped for me, but the xm5s are coming apart at the headband seams instead. Durability is the only issue i've had with them
Same happened with my xm5s, but I am a constant 24 hour music typa person and I sleep with headphones, they did last over a year for me tho

My XM2's still work for me since 2017. And with that model you still have the airplane-adapter with the double plug, perfect!
Just curious, because my XM3s and my gf xm4s still had the airplane adaptor too. When was the last time you flew on a plane that used it? I haven't even seen that plug on a plane in at least 15 years. I've never used that adaptor

Been using my XM3s I bought in 2021 (in HIGHSCHOOL)! They were refurbished and discounted since the XM4s released around that time. 4 Years later and the only thing that broke on me was early 2024 when the notice cancelling (which i barely used because of the pressure making me kinda uncomfy) started making my right ear uncomfortable (not sure how to explain it lol). I think that was due to the refurbish as its the same side that the repair was seemingly done.

Yes and no. Loved my XM4's but they got the dreaded screeching noise that cant be fixed so I just replaced them with the XM5's (on sale at 250). Still wish I'd waited though...

My XM2 pads finally started to fall apart in the last few months so I have naturally been anticipating these 6th gens. Super stoked they launched with all the upgrades!

Me too, I only just recently replaced the ear pads. I'm unsure how to replace the faux leather on the head band though. Battery life is still amazing.
The biggest competition for these are the XM4's for $130. You get 95% of the performance for a third of the price.
I have the 4's and upgraded to the 6's, got them today.
The XM4's are absolutely fantastic and a great buy, but man I have to say, these 6's are far better than just 5%.

My WH-1000XM3s from 2018 are held together by duck tape the plastic is literally crumbled and cracked to the point that if I took the tape off it you see wires and inside the housing and that is even after an warranty exchange from the first pair dying close to the end of the warranty. The two things I would like them to change is I hate the finicky touch controls and want a hot swap-able battery.
@platypuslord2399I wish more devices included hot swap batteries, not even just for the charging element but batteries die over time and it would be nice to replace a battery without a whole warranty-breaking servicing.

I have the 4s and the cable slot in the case is perfect for AirPods so I just keep my headphones together most of the time.

Been on a pair of xm4's for about a year now. Probably the best bang for your buck option in the audio space in general (and they still sound crazy premium). If I had the cash I would probably check out the 6's, but 500 is a little steep for me.

@xentiment6581I’ve yet to hear any Bluetooth HP that’s premium sound frankly, they’re all wimpy and anemic compared to a properly amped headphone from the likes of Sennheiser, Hifiman or Focal. I wish I could find one that trades battery life for more oomph.

When you use this kind of headphones for close to a decade now and still find them better than most headphones on sale right now, you can't imagine how good one of the mark 5 or 6 must be. Really tempted to get these but my XM5s are still working perfectly with insane noise cancelling and I've been using them nearly daily for years now.
I also have the XM5 and honestly, the improvements are probably not worth the switch if your XM5s are still functioning properly.

I'm watching this video with the XM4s which are still a great quality product. The value with the XM4s is phenomenal with a better design than both the 5s and 6s. Highly recommend the XM4s to anyone unsure how to proceed in the current market!

@kjrom I had the XM5’s and the XM4’s, and the XM4’s headband snapped right where it connects to the earcup. It seemed like there was a metal band inside, but it probably ended at that junction, leaving the connection point all plastic. That weak spot just gave out over time.
It’s probably an issue with the XM5’s also
I've had my XM4s for 5 years and they still work perfectly with only minor cosmetic wear over time. All my boys have them too and have no complaints. Seems like you are making a sweeping general statement on product longevity with a sample size of 1.
My xm3 are holding up fine, use them every day just swaped ear cups out twice
I bought the xm4's last November and they are absolutely incredible, 0 complaints so I can't imagine how good the 6's must be. $449 isnt that bad when you consider you could buy the 4's or 5's for much cheaper and still get most of the quality and I guess if you want the best then get the 6's. Beautiful design as always too.
I'm in the same boat. Bought my XM4s a bit over a year ago, and they've been so good, I don't have any intention of replacing them until they die. I'm sure the XM6s are better, but not to the point I'd like to spend the money.
Don't buy the 5s. If you don't want these new ones then go for the 4s.
I regret selling my 4s for the 5s it was a downgrade.
@Ehh..... I seen something on reddit about the 5's having durability issues? Not sure how true it is.
