Rory a true legend, you change the way selectors play, your juggling was next to none. Your did not just select, you teach the music, whenever you interduce a new music you tell the name of the music, the artis, producer , rythm etc. Nuff talk in dancehall you invented, as we move, thing call, as we enter, frankie dancehall paul, freddy eva ready and the list goes on.

Rory Gilligan had a voice with clarity, and his intro just had a crowd pulling affect to this day, no aggression, and no shouting over people, and he was not into the clash thing! Another sound like Renaissance uptown collaboration

Rory’s voice on a sound tape was the yardstick for hundreds of sound systems world wide - he was different aggressive but appealing and crystal clear - Stone Love Sound effects ..oh my God ..sounded like God was communicating ......rah rah rah I’m getting excited ...I’m in my final year of a degree and music production..Stone Love really inspired me and their Sound Effects too🙌🏽🙌🏽🦉

Backk in the late 80's, Mark Dragon had a lot to do with that sound perfection that Wee Pow wanted when he used engineering prowess to tune up Stone Love. Dragon also used to clash with sound and tune them up (Bodyguard comes to mind instantly).

    • @brownhornet1975

A man struggle, history and achievements cannot be erased and the contributions and building of Stone love ❤ from Rory is a Archive monument to remember. Rory was a part builder of this sound, his money that bought dubs after dubs, promoting the sound by top selections and pleasing the crowds was his top branding of Stone love ❤. Sometimes the falling off of a parts from a vehicle and not replacing its original becomes the downfall of a big legend. Big ups RORY Stone love ❤ great memories from the 80s.

this man single-handedly responsible for changing dancehall and taking it global but most importantly create an entire generation of djs that longed to sound like the great rory. the greatest selector and mic man of all time. He made me fall in love with soundsystem culture and fight to get cassettes from Jamaica as a little youth growing up in Guyana which was a rarity, from 88 i was 10 years old. Chico to me was the sencond best voice in dancehall. and rory taught him.

Let me tell you how clean and crisp stone love sound system was, back in the day you could listen to a stone love cassette and it would sound like a CD.
Loud clear and the sound effects hit ya ears like 3D, the reverb on the mic was like if god was talking to you; you felt as thought you was in the room when the sound was actually playing.
When Stone Love was coming to town, to play it got us in a frenzy!
Couldn't wait to get the tape .
    Shit was crazy!
To this day people copy the sound effects stone love used , in music production .
Best selectors and DJ's that ever played reggae music if you ask me, the Gold standard in my opinion at least from my time when I was a youth listening to sound systems play.
The sound system culture isn't as it used to be, especially here in NYC, theres no more sound systems, just DJ's
I always said anytime I get real money, I would build a set , a big one . Always wanted to do that, you have to experience music being played on a powerfull well tuned set to appreciate the knowledge and skill of putting together such machines.
many people have never been inside a dance hall and heard a sound like Stone love play, its something you never forget.
