This is where you first meet Daedalus, learn of the true nature behind UNATCO, regain your equipment, fight transgenic creatures, save your brother, potentially kill Anna Navarre, resulting in Gunther going on a path of vengeance, and, once and for all, you leave the UNATCO HQ, which seemed like home to you up to this point, leaving for Hong Kong, to find Tracer Tong and discover the conspiracy that created you. This is where the game really begins.
it was pretty obvious to me... I mean Walton Simmons says in the beginning of the game "we don't have the same moral limitations as the others do" (or something like that) and he's your boss, I figured unatco had a secret
From the beginning I never trusted UNATCO, so I spied and broke into every corner and computer I could find. When I saw that INF strength and security door down at level 4 I had a feeling something was up down there (excuse the pun). Amazing game 11/10
I did trust UNATCO in the beginning, or at least expected them to be generally a neutral/ambiguous force, even if corrupt or not telling the whole truth here and there (like any governmental agency). What I didn't expect is for them to be back stabbing puppets of the bad guys, which made the revelation ever so sweet
Second Favourite song in the entire game. It perfectly captures everything good about Deus Ex: The terror, The fear of secret societies, The conspiracies, The science, The augmentations, The everything, It's just perfect.
@@xonxt7479 its funny when the hostile secretary dies/KOs. If you have full inventory her riot prod ends up between her legs in a very suggestive place lmao...
Perfect cyberpunk vibes, with those "wind" sounds, when you hear this sneaking through those dark tunnels and vents it's actually like playing Neuromancer...
I was excited before when Vincenzo Natali was developing it, I haven't seen any of his films but I gather he's a credible and distinct sci-fi director. I just read he's no longer available to do it and it's now being directed by some nobody who's directed a few marvel films.... Yaaaay.... I know they were considering casting Liam Neeson as Armitage.
Have you heard of the novel "Snow Crash"? If not, do give it a fair chance. You may find that its variety of cyberpunk - post-cyberpunk, to be specific - appeals to you. There's apparently going to be an Amazon produced live-action adaptation of the source material.
I've been recommended it several times, I must read it, a lot of the later cyberpunk or "post-cyberpunk" like that and altered carbon actually sounds better than the classics that defined the genre. I want to finally read altered carbon as I've had it for ages then I'll give the netflix series a go (the only netflix exclusive I am bothered about watching to be honest, apart from stranger things)
"Guy in a coat i'm checking it out" "It's Denton remember the briefing" then later on "hear that? everybody check weapons" "we'll find him this guy is just a rookie" "lock and load!"
I carried Manleys body with me. It didn't feel right to leave his corpse there at the UNATCO HQ. Besides, I think it was freaking Janice out. So I carried his lifeless body all the way to China, and into the MJ12 labs. I was going to take him all the way with me, but I got sidetracked and rememebered I'd left his festering bloated mess on Maggie Chow's bedroom sofa. Maybe I'll return for him one day... He wasn't heavy. He's my brother.
I had played a lot of games growing up.. I had listened to a lot of amazing soundtracks by prolific artists.. I felt "chills" when listening to good music since I can remember.. I discovered classical music later but for me this was the first song I heard that was "beyond" a song. When I heard this the first time, it was the first moment I realized "Holy shit, how can we top this off, how many creativeness is left?". It's not a good "song" by any means it's fairly standard, but I've never really looked at it like a song, more like a wordless poem. Those fluctuating echoes begin and you're staring down some deep canyon that goes on for miles and miles to no end, then comes that bit of bass which sounds like distorted footsteps from some unknown entity that you can't really see but you know it's bad news, like you gotta get the hell out of there, and amidst all that darkness, that techno synthesizer part feels like you're "coming alive", as in the realization that you've gotta resist and fight that darkness, only for the first part to return again as if you're glancing at that dark place you began in one last time. I don't know if it was ever intended to be perceived that way or hell if it's even normal to envision a 3 minute ambient track like it's the String Quartet No. 15, but I think it's worth noting how much influence can you have on someone when you put your time and effort into it.
No need to panic. The secondary unit should be online soon. It's currently undergoing preparation and will be operational within six months. My people will continue to report on its progress. If necessary, the primary will be terminated.
