@@mouseinatutu Yeah the CR2s on torches have no business doing almost the same stance dmg as colossal swords, except they're even faster. Kinda fun to use.
I seem to be in the minority here, because I came to absolutely love fighting this boss for some reason, lost count of how many players I helped beat it back in the first weeks of launch. I found it very fun to learn how to dodge all of his attacks and seeing you do it without rolling is very impressive. What can you do to evade his upwards thrust without rolling if he decides to do it while you are hugging him? Never managed to jump that one when standing up close.
Need the dex from bird helmet to wield the miséricorde. And yeah, when charging from far away it's nearly impossible to dodge the charge with balls as your hands get hit, so I wear the gs for that one
I love this boss. One of my personal favourites. I assume stance breaking him when entering phase 2 is mandatory for this because of the scripted AoE slam he does at the start of phase 2?
Agree. Good Boss. People hate Gaius too much. Charge hitbox is maybe not perfect (i think it has a hitbox on the legs, that's stupid), but it is still completely avoidable. The ground being littered with random stuff is more annoying than the boss itself. But the fight is pretty fun, and no bullshit or overtuned moves either. (Metyr laser or Radahn cross slash for example) My RL1 run made me like Gaius even more. About what you said about stance break before phase 2, i think it might just be for extra damage, because the attack is easily avoidable without roll. I always run away and then do the running jump when he impacts, then keep running until the attack is over. It's not scary at all.
@@Lucifer-hq5pe ah i see. Also yeah, i learned appreciate Gaius on my RL1 no blessing run aswell. The charge isn't even that bad, just roll to your right and he'll miss it. There's also only a few times he uses it and majority of them are follow ups to attacks for if you run away from him/create distance (standalone Belly flop or gravity spear projectile). Otherwise he'll just do it randomly but imo it doesn't seem that common tbh. Overhated boss. A boss that deserves to be shit on if anything is Metyr, who i had to RNG farm for hours to not get that stupid fucking laser attack. Hands down the most annoying and unfun major boss in the whole game.
You can run away from the AoE. Opens up for one ranged attack which could end your attempt, but isn't going to kill you itself. However, getting to range and losing that time wouldn't be right for "bullying" it
@@WLightTheme You're spitting straight FACTS. Metyr was the worst on my RL1 as well, 3 hours to get a perfect run where i could kill it before the laser goes off. Would have been easier with bleed, but i wanted to try and beat all without status effects. Radahn took way longer at 26 hours, but at least it was possible to dodge the cross slash, even if ridiculous. So Metyr is definitely the worst due to that attack, fully agree. 👍
I’m guessing you have answered this in the past but I got a question: why do you do no rolling? I do challenge runs myself and I can see some of the fun but i feel like I’d just be more annoyed with such a restriction than anything. Do you do it purely for fun factor or is there another reason?
It actually teaches you a lot about the bosses’ hitboxes and AI and is a really fun way of re-examining the game. But for the most part, I think people just do it because they find it fun and interesting. I know that was why I did that back in the day.
It's fun, and I started it because I was doing endurance before and was getting bored of that and no roll means you have to learn the bosses all over again. The vast majority of bosses are very fun no roll, but in this DLC it's been more frustrating than not, unfortunately. Lots of moves with perfect tracking and arena-wide range or massive AoEs

@@mouseinatutu fair enough all respect to you brother. I’m doing rl1 0 blessing no hit myself but I can’t ever imagine having the precision you have displayed on your channel. Keep it up brother man. I will watch with great interest. Hopefully my question didn’t bother you.
I only wear that weapon to keep the arms higher so it's easier to jump. When he's too far away the charge becomes really hard to dodge with fist weapons, but not with a gs
Greatswords or anything else held above the shoulders makes it much more lenient. This only matters if the charge is from a certain distance away, for midrange charges it's still consistently dodgeable either way, though jump timing with balls is a lot earlier than you expect it to be

Sounds about right for my experience with him as well. After Metyr I will clear out the arena and see if I can't lure him to a little flatter ground and see if he's better then.
Local man bullies disabled farmer and his pig, investigation ongoing

Wow, “bullying” really is the right word here.
Absolutely disgusting. You just ran circles around a boar that's faster than Torrent. Always inspiring watching your stuff
🙏
Bro really saw this gravity manipulating badass riding a war boar and said "I'm just gonna punch him really hard."
crazy bruh I hate this boss with a passion, insane to see someone literally beat the boss by walking and smashing 💀🙏
I really liked the boss at first, but the more I fought it the less I enjoyed it
You move around him with such grace, wow, it looks like perfect rolling for this boss is not as important as i thought
Unironically good job using his weakness such as holy damage, not many people know about this
@@Draconian930 it’s actually nuts how helpful holy is against him and pk. Straight up superior to aux for these fights.
I literally no hit him with a torch today and thought that was impressive, and then see this...
This is insane.
Torch is cool. I was fighting Romina with Nanaya's Torch for a while, the CR2s are so good now after the buffs, but the range is painfully low
@@mouseinatutu Yeah the CR2s on torches have no business doing almost the same stance dmg as colossal swords, except they're even faster. Kinda fun to use.
The melee combos look kinda fun to strafe. I like the wombo combo dodge. GG!
Yeah, ducking the stab, running around him. It's fun. Now if only it were consistent...
Hard swapping to high grip jump, first time I see a practical application of that. Mouse is a scholar and an athlete.
Lock on feature is really a double edge sword

You can jump it sideways and outspace the AoE
Very good preview 😂😂 I like it 🎉
