Earl had a monster year the likes of which don't come along very often. He started the onslaught of big powerful fast running backs think of the backs all the way to George Rogers, Herschel Walker..exalted company..

Earl Campbell. A true Texas son and American. An upstanding human individual that could and would accomplish anything he wanted. Sadly in this day and age there are no more Earl Campbell's and we need one now more than ever!

I was a die hard Steelers fan and despite Earl Campbell playing for the rival Oilers he is to this day my favorite RB of all time. Loved watching him play. He took the NFL by force right in year 1.

Man I was a closet Steeler fan in the days of Earl Campbell. Still am. Because of Lambert, Bradshaw, Harris, Joe Green, all them dudes.
But I was an Oiler fan. Still am. Still got my Earl Campbell posters and autograph still on display.
But those Steelers were tough. And I loved every movie Terry Bradshaw was in.
But I was an Oiler fan
      Go Titans!

#72 for Texas Tech used to be a co worker. He said he had never been hit that hard in his life as when #20 leaned in and ran over him.

His knee was never down!! AND the ball was passed the goal line anyway... if it ever did.... but it didn't! Arkansas Razorbacks. Right... never been a freight train like him!! An amazing mazing man... Amazing character. But of course that's when men were still men.

Good man , mama's boy (in a good way). I understand when he signed to play for Houston, he built his mother a new house. The whole state is a Campbell fan. Try finding dirt on him and all you'll get is dirty. Glad he is still enjoying life.
