Love how she exudes her anger in the line "he took my childhood in his stride." You don't hear Fantines do that often enough and it is totally in character.
I know right! She's singing about how her life is a mess and how she has no hope left, and not enough people show their anger.
Think Lea does that with hers
Anne Hathaway did
Anne Hathaway did it.
You know she's a great singer and actor when you can't stop crying even though you heard the song a thousand times before
I'm a guy (boomer) and I never cry except when I hear this song and when I once went to the theater and saw 'Bridge To Terabithia'. 😭😭😭😭
every one of their shows is done perfactly ; it's hard to belive that their just kids, and not perfessionals: that is how good they are
Well they are being trained to be professionals ! It’s a preforming arts school
@@thisistinnytrying Is King’s Academy a performing arts school? I just know that they’re a Christian school
@@mechadoggy yes it’s a Christian school with preforming arts

And trained superbly! 😁
Vunerable, angry, wishful, fearful and grief stricken. All emotions played out in one song, not easy to do but well done...!
And still a child.
I felt the same way when I sang this song because of the los of my mother that died of lung cancer and my brother Joseph and my grandpa
Finally some emotion while singing
DAMN!
😢 True talent here folks.
No lip sync, no pitch correction, just honest emotional talent!
Beautifully done. In high school emotional songs like this can go from well acted to over dramatic very quickly, but this is absolutely well balanced. Sung as a true thespian!
Wow got goosebumps...this girl was brilliant and really moved me.
My mother passed in 2020 from a brain tumor
This was her all time favorite song and just hearing it makes me cry every time💜💜💜
I love you and miss you so much mom!!!
Noway my mom died from lung cancer and this song reminds me of her
Les Miserables was the first musical I saw on Broadway in New York in the summer of 1989. Unforgettably beautiful and the music it is incredible, pure goose bumps. I have seen it several times in the meantime and it moves me every time.
This by far the best interpretation I every heard, including professionals. The emotions she expresses in the song are amazing.
There are no words for how beautifully done this is!
Fantastic delivery with emotions on point! Brava!
❤️ Fantine. So broken...but so so brave . Love this Fantine xx
I have heard this song many times with different performers. Most of them are really great but she is incredible. So much emotion when signing. Incredible
i am listening to this on repeat as i got a callback for fantine
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed, that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream
I dreamed
Fantine oh my gosh yes she is so good!!!
that was so emotional! Thank you!
Stunningly passionate performance! Beautiful!
Well done, both the singing and acting.
Amazing emotion!! I love it!!
Brilliant!
Wow absolutely amazing
The emotion when she sings makes this one of the most endearing and beautiful musical theatre solos I have ever heard. Well done!
Beautiful!!
This is so cool.!!
Remarkable
Very beautiful voice 🥰 and she exudes the emotions really well 😢
Her sorrow, anger, regret… this song breaks my heart.

One of my favorite songs from Les Mis.
This song reminds me so much of my mother who died of lung cancer

Love it
powerful song
Perfect ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful.
Why is this making me cry
That was very powerful that song was.
This actually so much better then the million dollars production of 2013. Amazing work
Wow wow wow
This video is so very nice
For myself:: 1:47 this is so I can listen to my audition piece multiple times in a row
1:47 - 3:44
so how did it go?
i dreamed a dream 我曾有梦 😭
鄧綠帽 are you from Taiwan?
我覺得你從中國來的。
I'm not crying you're crying
does anyone know if this is available to buy/download anywhere cuz i adore this version
i think they should have i dreamed a dream be after she became a prostitute cuz that’s LITERALLY “hell she’s living” like in the movies... it just makes more sense
It can be hellish to know you are headed to an abyss- storms you cannot weather.
Les Miserables Movie
What does she die of? Pneumonia? I couldn't figure out what Fantine and Jon Val Jean(?) die of
that rwby girl I know this is a late reply (so not sure if you have got your answer or not) but Fantine actually dies of tuberculosis aswell as perhaps a number of other diseases brought on as a result of her prostitution and Jean Valjean of is said to die of heart failure (widely believed to be brought on by grief).
She sure seems sad. I hope her friend goes over to play with her again
Uzasne
I adore the emotion. BUT, she isn't really a great singer. Like a 7.5 out of ten. She almost sounds like she is screaming at times, rather then singing. Just being honest. Over all I do like it though. Not everyone can be Susan Boyle.
Sorry, but she uses the "screams" too much as well as she fakes it a lot. Ruthie Henshall is definitely by far the best for this song ;)
