- Spicy Masala Fish Fry | Fish Fry Recipe | Tawa Fish Fry | Fish Fry | Spicy Fish Fry | Masala Fish Fry | Crispy Fish Fry
Ingredients for Fish Fry:
- Rohu/Katla/Asian Carp fish pieces( 5-6 big pieces)- 500 gms
Marinate with:
- Salt- 1.25 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder- 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder- 1.25 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 3/4 tsp (Link to our Garam Masala Recipe: • GARAM MASALA RECIPE | ... )
- Juice of lemon- 2 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves chopped- 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves chopped- 2 tbsp
- Oil- 2 tbsp
For frying:
- Oil- 3 tbsp
Preparation:
- Clean and wash the fish pieces.
- Chop the curry leaves and coriander leaves.
- Add all the items for the marinade specified above. Mix it well and set aside for 1 hr.
Process:
- Take a frying pan and heat the oil.
- Now place the fish pieces side by side and fry on medium heat for 3 mins. Reduce the heat to low and continue to fry for another 3 mins.
- Now turn the pieces on the other side and repeat the same on the other side (on medium heat for 3 mins and then on low heat for another 3 mins.)
- Turn it again and continue frying on low heat for 2 mins more on both sides.

I have watched each and every recipe
I made this tonight and it was very good! I opted to use catfish steaks because I've never seen the suggested fish in either of the fish markets I frequent. Thank you for being so detailed about the cooking times on each side, and how many times to flip the fish. That took the guess work out, and my fish was tender inside while nice and crusted on the outside. I'll definitely make it again. :-)

Thank you Bumbi 🙂. I know ...you would get the frozen ones in some Asian stores. However, some Asian grocery stores like 99 Ranch Market do have fresh Asian carp 😊
Spice Eats I have tried out all but always got disappointed. Either the fish has a smell ( not stale smell but something different) , or it is extremely bony so I have stopped buying. I use salmon but nothing like freshwater fish.
