The kirana gayaki is so much evident in her presentation. An well ornamented and bhav purak rendition. A very underrated artist. I absolutely love the tablaji's style of playing tabla. his touch is so soft. He is not over powering prabhaji at all. This is exactly how a tablaji should be.
Prabha Atre was my favorite Classical singer . What a soothing voice. Nagpur Radio Station in my college years used to play her a lot . Both sisters Usha and Prabha were gems. We loved their gunj in the early morning. DV Paluskar and Bhimsen Joshi were also everyones favorite singer. There wer many artists were born in Nagpur and then moved to Poona and Mumbai for further education. They all are gems. Our colleges in Nagpur used to have classical singers for the graduation time and people would enjoy them till early morning.
Such divine music and melodious voice! I had the great privilege of having her as our house guest in the US in 1975. I have treasured memories of her live music in 1975.
Kya baat bahut khoob. She said in an interview that she was taught Kalyan for one full year, after hich she timidly asked her Guru how much longer would she have to learn this raag. She realized later that learning other raagas was so much easier after that..
