      I own one. It’s indistinguishable from standard steering. But when you throw it in sport it’s as precise and responsive as a Ferrari. (Yes I have driven a Ferrari on a track)

    Great review. I requested Cooley to do a review on this particular trim of the Q50 and I am sure others did too. He came through. Thanks for truly listening to us Cooley! This will be my next car. I can't wait. Awesome review by Cooley and he kept it honest about the negatives. This has been the best/ honest review of the Q50 I have seen on the net. As usual by CNet. Other review companies take note!

    I agree with the silliness of Infiniti renaming / re-badging all the familiar models G series to Q series and so on. I understand they are trying to remake the brand, but I really don't think consumers are going to attribute much more to an Infiniti model simply because a G is now a Q etc... Plus it would be great for fans to follow their favorite model through the years respectively...

    Now this is how should all car reviews be done, not just by "steering is good, brake is good, gear is good, engine is good" I bet most folks are just wanting to watch the car in action, not to hear its review. This video deserves way lot more views and likes

    You don't just connect the jumper cables and start the other car. Yes it might work but mostly give it 5 min to give a little charge to the other car. Also run the donor car at rpm not at idle- the cars alternators are designed to charge and support the vehicle not to start also another one. If you have a 150amp V8 vehicle trying to start a 1.4 Civic yeah go ahead and do what Cooley did. But if it's the other way around make sure you give it some time and crank up those rpms on the donor car.

    Drove a Q50S Hybrid AWD today. Probably the most rapid accelerating car I've driven yet.
    The DAS system is pretty interesting and I think it's comparable to most EPS systems on the market; I feel the automotive magazines hate on it too much. Another standout was the powertrain. It is just as smooth as Toyota/Lexus hybrids in transition but has power. Lots of power. Despite that, you can trundle along perfectly adequate in traffic WITHOUT ever kicking the gas engine on. Good luck doing that in a Prius without anyone honking the crap out behind you. The sport suspension also helps the car feel solid around fast bends as well.
    There are a couple of faults however: braking isn't as refined as that on the CT200h but will stop perfectly fine once those huge disks starts clamping down. But the transition between regen brakes & actual brakes is touchy. Also (according to sister in passenger seat) the Q50S is bumpier & louder at freeway speeds vs. the Lexus IS350 F-sport. The leather (while soft & cushy) feels thin; my tester has a noticeable leather nicks by the door handles. The Lexus IS350 also has better seats as well as leather (Nuluxe synthetic & the real stuff both).

    • @JB88-
      @JB88- 8 лет назад +1

      Having driven both the Lexus is 350 and the Q50s which one was your favorite?

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 8 лет назад

      DiveDeep
      Good question. I actually like them both equally. If I had to go out and buy one today though, I would pick the Q50S Hybrid due to its tech, power and MPGs.
      If not for the hybrid however, I feel the IS350 F-sport is a better car with the straight gas motor.
      P.S. Recently also taken a serious dive into cars like the Audi S3 and Mercedes CLA45 AMG. Both cost around the same but I swear these small German compacts even have more grunt than these Japanese sport sedans.

    If you have a battery like in my 02 Civic you can top off the cells with distilled water. They do go low on water inside the cell which makes them not last as long. We used to do this ALL the time on batteries for R/C Airplanes long before Lithium Poly batteries came out.

    It's weird how CNET on Cars website got the horsepower right on the written review and not the video. The hybrid uses the VQ35vhr which is 302hp plus 67hp from the electric motor. The gas powered only version has the 328hp VQ37vhr that's carry over from the G37.

    oooh yeah baby just picked up my Q50s Hybrid got a lease returned vehicle with only 8k miles in immaculate condition this car speaks volumes and the car was fully loaded only thing was missing from it was the illuminated kick plates and mud guards but after a few hours of tugging I got the sales guy to throw them in I also ordered the Stillen front low spoiler and rear diffuser which adds a very nice aggressive look but doesn't throw it off the high end look, so far this machine is all and more I'd expected from a car minus like the man said the screen clutter which like he said setting are dubbed but I did not buy this car because of a screen I bought it because of the power and tech it offers and omg the steering is tight when set to high very nice, well boys n gals if anyone in the so cal area know of any Infiniti meets please let me know I would like to meet people who share the same passion for these Nissan/Infiniti brand of cars, my others 1998 Nissan 240sx se aka S14 and 1991 Nissan 300zx na aka Z32.

    Thank you Brian. Can you please explain the tech behind the batteries in Electric and Hybrid vehicles. Does the manufacturing of these batteries harm the environment or is it only beneficial in the long run? And why do full size cars do poorly in crash test when they seem heavier and more robust than small compacts?

    • @Namka19
      @Namka19 10 лет назад

      I'm no expert but I think full size cars do poorly because they are heavy. At same speed, I think the heavier car carries more force hence when they crash the impact is more. I don't know how significantly sturdier the chassis of a full car is compared to smaller cars.

    "WARNING: Always connect the BLACK clamp to the negative ( - ) terminal of the car battery first, then connect the RED clamp to the positive ( + ) terminal of the car battery to prevent damage to the device and/or the car battery. "
    This is taken from Amazon Product Description of PowerAll portable car jumper(the red one with the LED light). I believe the company itself put it in the description box.
    And Brian says connect the Red first and then Black to close the circuit? Who do I listen to? Thanks!

    Why is every in-car interface so laggy? Just scrolling through a page of apps looks so laggy and horrible when the lowest end of smartphones can do much better. wilson pabon Then they could use the same chipsets in tablets. The nexus 7 is in the $200 price range and that is already a very snappy full-on tablet. How hard is it to "cram" tablet specs in an audio/nav unit?

    • @logikgr
      @logikgr 10 лет назад +1

      The reasons are: First and foremost, reliability (hardware and software). Second, compatability (systems integration) . Third, cost (testing and vetting for use in road cars). The upside is that, as mobile computing has become more powerful AND reliable, car companies will slowly phase out the heavy compute part in the dash and simply provide the display interface for more powerful apps that run natively on the driver's mobile device.

    • @AbiNubli
      @AbiNubli 10 лет назад +2

      the reason is companies usually build their car in 3-5 years time. and they already make the deal with all the components manufacturer. if you want that today's tablet speced head unit car you can see it as soon as 3 years from now.

    Ok can someone please explain to me...
    When he was talking about the Infiniti Q50 hybrid and he said that you got 4.9 sc 0-60 for RWD and 5.2 sc for AWD...
    Did it mean that we have both option in the car... Or he was talking about 2 different version of the car?
    And if it 2 different version of the car, how can the RWD be faster than AWD with the same amount of torque and approximately the same weight?
    Normally if you floor it with the AWD the tire will probably spin a bit then get the grip back , but with the RWD they will probably spend a lot more no?
    I don't know!!! I don't understand!!! I'm confused!!! can someone explain to me please? :'(
    Thank you in advance

    • @311Egar
      @311Egar 9 лет назад +1

      nacim, RWD and AWD are both available options for the hybrid. RWD is the better way to go, in my opinion.
      as for spinning tires. the car has traction control so it shouldn't be a problem.

    • @Ouiofcourse
      @Ouiofcourse 9 лет назад

      +311Egar, Wow really the car have both option RWD and AWD!!! That's amazing!!! :D
      Cuz I tried a Q50S hybrid AWD but it was last year's so it was a 2014 model and it came in 2 different version AWD and RWD
      I'm so happy that they decide to include both option, I hope its not only in the US cuz I'm from Canada :'(

    • @Ouiofcourse
      @Ouiofcourse 9 лет назад

      I love that car, I think I'm going to buy one but I hesitate between the Audi S4...
      What you guys think?
      The only thing I think is lacking in the Q50S that Audi S4 have
      Is maybe a faster respond when you hit the acceleration pedal a better transmission and a launch control, and also the fact that you can rev the motor of the S4 and not the Q50S...
      I know that it is a hybrid and everything but still, I want to be able to rev the motor!!!! :p
      And a big thanks to you 311Egar, I really appreciate the fact that you take your time to answer thank you so much! :D

    • @311Egar

    That infotainment system is weird. It looks like they shoved in the standard 2008-2014 Nissan/Infiniti infotainment system on the top screen, then put in a wholly separate tablet computer with a recolored version of the 2014+ Murano and Maxima infotainment system on the bottom. And the two are not connected in any way and they completely duplicate each other's features, so you just decide which you want to use.

    we need 100000 people to sign a petition to get Cooley on American Top Gear. That would be cool. Like our version of Clarkson.

    i like this car and i like infiniti but it seems like their suffering from the cadillac disease, i can't quite put a finger on it but it just seems like both car makers have something missing that just isn't the same on a german car

      Usually the first year of a chassis has many problems. Always buy a new car that has been around for couple of years.

    328 + 62 = 360?

      I think when they combine, they don't add up like simple maths.

      Namka B I'm thinking the car doesn't use all the available power when both the engine and motor are combined.
      Whatever, though. Still an awesome car.

    I wonder will this predictive tech make drivers rely on it more and not pay attention as much.

    • @FeintMotion
      @FeintMotion 10 лет назад

      Alex MacLean 99% of drivers can't threshold brake. A probably more can't handle their shit in a panic swerve.
      Predictive and driver assistance stuff is stupid, however.

      How much less can most people pay attention when behind the wheel? Most here in LA are too involved in other activities behind the wheel other than guiding their car in a responsible manner I can't wait for autonomous cars.

    From what these guys and Toyota are doing, it looks like the Japanese makers are going through one of their periodic styling crises.
