Great video! I prefer the gold. Wanted to ask you: I have an impacted wisdom tooth (#17 I think on bottom) just below gum with a food catching pocket and yellow pus every day for two years. The surgeon says I could develop sepsis but he thinks nerve , tongue, jaw nerve damage is likely so I haven’t gotten it done because I want to get the rest of my mouth ok first even though I don’t have a lot of money. I already have a facial burning pain syndrome. The dentist says the molars around my mouth and teeth are fracturing and the old white cap is worn down with the micro cracks you describe. On my other side I a missing tooth #3. I don’t want dental implant, so what are my options? Dentist said #3 is moving and bottom tooth has no opposing force without it to chew. I have to check if you did a video on bridging so I can eat well again. The left has wisdom tooth problem so I chew on right, but the food tears apart the gum where #3 is missing. Don’t want a yucky removable piece. Can there be a permanent bridge? Thanks❤
That would depend on the position in the posterior , Gold is by far the best hands down! However if there is a dr that does not know how to apply a temporary or cut a prep one can get a great amount of variation standard rules are out of the window! Did they give enough clearance? How about reduction in the prep? Are they cross bits? that goes a long way in knowing what to do. Bob johnson I am not a doctor and can not give medical advice but from a technicians point of view and what I have been taught in past seminars is, yes a good quality Midas gold wears very much like Enamel and their is no chance of it fracturing as one would have with an all ceramic or even PFM porcelain fused to metal. Much of a quality restoration depends on the dentist and his prep and if he stays within the proper perimeters in crown prep. The only draw back to gold that I know of is the esthetics one does not get the natural tooth color. That having been said bear in mind that I am not a doctor so this is not medical or dental advice this is just an opinion of a technician and is not intended To replace the advice of a medical professional.

A good dental lab owner/technician is familiar with the benefits and limitations of every material and can offer suggestions to dentists what will work best in a particular case. I see prescriptions every day that leave things up to the lab regarding everything from best material to weather or not an implant is screw retained or must be cemented. Sure some prescriptions are exact and specific but many deferr to the lab's expertise. For the best possible patient outcome the dentist and lab technician both should be well versed in materials and work together.
I've lost all of my baby teeth except my crowned tooth I got when I was little, it's been lose for a long time now and my dentist told me I could just pull it when it got lose enough. About the same as a zirconium or PFM crown, possibly less. Pay the slight upgrade to get a high noble alloy. Jensen JRVT or Argenco HP77 would be good choices. Most crowns have 1/10 of a troy ounce of alloy or less. The "Cost" of gold isn't in the metal. It is in the process to make it.

Dr. What about a Porcelain Fused to Gold crown. Is it the best of both words for posterior teeth? Gold contour and good esthetics. Thank you
Porcelain can crack off. Full cast gold is very unlikely to crack, ever.
No, he just said porcelain will crack sooner than gold. Full gold or you're wasting time.
