I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get Kontakt working for my music class for so long. You're the first channel I've seen that's actually told me how to do anything to solve it.
Thanks for the clear instructions. I'm a Cakewalk newbie (migrating from an ancient version of Samplitude Producer, which won't handle 64 bit plug-ins), and for the life of me I couldn't understand why I couldn't hear any sounds from my Kontakt plugin - which was visibly connected (level meters working when triggering from a midi keyboard). The problem was that I had - intuitively? - selected "insert MIDI track". Should have been "insert Soft Synth" - 3:15 I'd never considered my Kontakt samples to be "soft synths", but you live and learn.
I wanaa drag a sample from from kontact , reactor section there is a drum beat i like and i want it in my track I cant drag the audio I'm total newbie I hope u will understand wt I'm saying I wanaa drag that audio in the cakewalk plzzz tell me
OKAY, THEN! Listened again a couple of more times and its starting to come together regarding the vst folders and where things should land and be stored in order to use them in Cakewalk. Going to revisit Kontakt with that free bundle and see if it works this time! 🙂

Thanks for the great video. I downloaded the synthmaster player free, the insatll went fine but when I click on insert and soft synth there is no "uncategorized" menu item and I can't see the synthmaster player anywhere

Please help. I have installed a vst to designated folder, and have my Cakewalk scan it. That new installed vst was detected and added on the notification, but I cannot find in the plugin layout manager.

Trying to find an instructional video of what to do if my guitar plug ins gone missing , I reinstalled the plug ins that come with Cakewalk and got that instrument, done a bit recording , then I’ve tried to add the plug in to another track and it’s totally disappeared. No. It just means you haven’t installed any to that folder yet. You don’t need that folder. You can install them all to any folder you want. The steinberg folder and vstplugins folder are the most popular default locations for plugins to install to.
I installed plugin soft synth Helm it shows but no output. In midi track there is input as midi keyboard, output to vst but I can't find how to route vst output to master
i did ask you suggested in regards to downloading the vst plugins as i even went to the site you mentioned to get them. I did get them downloaded only to find they were a zip file, which i extracted. Then when i went to install it it asked me what program did i want to use to install that pkg file. Right there and then i lost it. Didn't work for me.
So, you first had to create a C:\Program Files\Vst PlugIns folder, right? Cuz there's no such folder on my system, just the C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vst PlugIns folder.
Im having a bit of trouble. Ive downloaded a plug in Pendulate specifically (mainly because when i tried synthmaster the download off of plug in boutique it did not show me a file to unzip) i was able to download pendulate and insert a pendulate synth track....however i cant get any sound and when i click on the icon to open the synth, it only opens a blank black window with only a few standard cake walk icons in the top right corner. What am i doing wrong please help.
I used to have Acid 8 and I have LOTS of wav loops that I would use in that music making software program. I want to be able to use those loops in Cakewalk. Is this how I would get them into Cakewalk to use?
It’s really hard to say what the issue might be without seeing what’s going on. When you play a note does it look like there is sound playing on that track? (Does the meter go up?) what plugin are you using?
Simple Green Tech I use the one you used in this video. And when I play notes I can hear sound but when I’m going to chose a preset I can’t hear it in that window thing. I’m bad at explaining Cx

@@unknown-vy7ei CwbB has a virtual keyboard, a small window with a keyboard, which you use by typing letters or clicking the mouse pointer on those little keys.
@@Eng202 can we write notes instead ? Apparently there's a piano roll feature which allows you to write notes as if you were using a piano even if the instrument plugin isn't a piano. Is this possible?
how do you automate the articulation? i can't seem to do it in CC in cakewalk, and when i edit key changes into the bricks, it doesnt change the articulation too.
If you haven’t installed any third party plugins yet, you won’t have the uncategorized section. Or if the plugins you have installed were put into a category automatically they won’t show up in uncategorized.
Pls help! Should we register the synth? You skipped or x’d that dialogue box out.. Maybe that’s why mine isn’t working and I can’t find it in uncategorized.
I downloaded mine from Pluginboutique and it says that no further authorization is required. Even if you needed to authorize, it should still show up. Make sure you have Cakewalk set to search the correct folder for the plugin. Sometimes the Program Files (X86) and Program Files can mess people up. You want Program files without the 86 as that's the 32 it folder. Hope you get it figured out.
When I try to load presets of a plugin (.FXP file) Cakewalk does nothing. It lets me choose the file, but after clicking in "Open" button nothing happens. Is it just me?
Hello. I cant find uncategorized in soft synth . The only synth player i can find in cakewalk is available for purchase which obviously is the wrong one . Im not sure ive downloaded it correctly from plugin boutique or put it on cakewalk incorrect. Kv331audio\synth master player is shown in vst scan path .im completely new to this . @@unknown-vy7ei yup you can do both. I use the piano roll to draw and then you can click alt+0 to have the virtual keyboard come up to add notes that way

You can draw notes into the piano roll, use your computer keyboard and also use the step sequencer if you’re making a beat that might be best. If you’re using an instrument plugin, make sure you have some midi information in order to hear the sound. You can also use your computer keyboard like a midi keyboard and test the presets by pressing the keys. Thanks for the tutorial - Its great. I was hoping this would help, but not quite. I just reinstalled, Cake Walk Band Lab and Dimension Pro on a new dell inspiron 3000. When loading my files, I get a missing plugins message "Dimension Pro Synth Racks Missing...8 of them. I have reinstalled everything several times, but that has not helped. Hi there, Thanks for this video it was a great help to me and I followed it through and installed from the Plugin Boutique (SynthMaster Free) it works great, however you also mentioned in this video the VST Steinberg folder so what free Steinberg VST plugin do I need to install to be able to install other VST plugins that require after download and unzipping to drag and place a dll file into the VST Steinberg folder (Example: Varasuvi Bongos and or the Indian Flute) which are also in the Plugin Boutique - Free section/Synth, I'm a total Noob to all this and I'm enjoying using the Bandlab - Cakewalk which I have been using now for several months and I'm stuck with this small problem and I'm asking for your kind help and guidance on this subject.
I'm able to get my plugins into Cakewalk with no issue. But when I open the vst plugin windows on a track, no noise is being produced when I play from my midi keyboard. The green sound bar responds, but I don't hear the actual presets from the plugin. Is there away to fix this?
Make sure you installed the plugin into a folder that Cakewalk searches for plugins. Or direct Cakewalk to search the folder that you did install it to. They have some instructions for installation on their site www.jamorigin.com/docs/daw/
I have installed add-ons, I have checked the Preference and Utilities, I have reset, I have scan many times. I have reinstalled...ooof! Still no VSTi. I haven't installed any VST3. That should not be the problem right? I learnt that at least 4 instruments come along with Cakewalk. But mine just sucks! Any solution?
@@AudioTechTV Thanks. I've since learned that I can use my stage piano and synthesizer for MIDI because someone told me you can use a standard printer cable to connect them to the PC. My keyboards are compatible with this anyway. I don't have the other kind of MIDI cable. And I learned the alt-0 shortcut. But it's seeming my stage piano can't make the SynthMaster 2.9 make sound and I don't know why! Is that normal? It works with other things like the electric piano and strings ones. It would be cool if it could work with SynthMaster. I also find there's a slight sound delay when playing music into Cakewalk with my stage piano and I'm yet to get to the bottom of that. Also, my stage piano works for playing music into Cakewalk but my other keyboard doesn't and I don't know why yet.
howdy ... having an issue if someone could point me in the right direction.... downloaded a few plugins from pluginboutique - namely taqsim and drown by klang... both zip files... i extract them to plugin folder etc then scan in cakewalk as shown on your vid, but nothing shows up. there is no installation element- they're just zip file extractions. containing more files. any ideas?
I think both of those are instruments to be used within Native Instruments Kontakt. You can download the free Kontakt player and see if they work within that but not all Kontakt instruments can be used in kontakt player (the free version).
Cakewalk is a Windows program. AU is a Mac plugin format. Maybe there is some sort of AU to VST converter but I’m not familiar with that sort of thing.
Hi there! I just wanted to ask because I still encountered problems even though I watched your video. I've installed Project SAM The Free Orchestra as well as Kontakt player and Native Instruments. I did use a custom folder for Project SAM The Free Orchestra but I did do the steps you shown and input the correct file paths. I even added the folder of Kontakt Player but cakewalk still doesn't detect it and I don't know why. What do you think is the problem? I would really appreciate your reply. Thank you!
Make sure there is the .dll file for Kontakt in the folders that you’re adding. It might be kontakt.dll or something like that. The .dll file is what Cakewalk is looking for. It might have installed to a different folder.

What happens when the vst is a zip file but it doesnt have an installer inside but has all the different sounds and some SD programme

I am getting a crackling sound when using VST's. I am using SpitFire Audio Labs in particular. Not all of them crackle but just certain ones.

I have horrible luck getting my daws to recognize the downloaded plugins. i'd say 50% of the time i can't even find where the download went!

When an instrument plugin is in the DAW how can we use it if we do not have a midi controller? Can we write/draw the notes? Or can we use our computer keyboard as a midi controller and how?
@@unknown-vy7ei yup you can do both. I use the piano roll to draw and then you can click alt+0 to have the virtual keyboard come up to add notes that way

You can draw notes into the piano roll, use your computer keyboard and also use the step sequencer if you’re making a beat that might be best.

If you’re using an instrument plugin, make sure you have some midi information in order to hear the sound. You can also use your computer keyboard like a midi keyboard and test the presets by pressing the keys. Thanks for the tutorial - Its great. I was hoping this would help, but not quite. I just reinstalled, Cake Walk Band Lab and Dimension Pro on a new dell inspiron 3000. When loading my files, I get a missing plugins message "Dimension Pro Synth Racks Missing...8 of them. I have reinstalled everything several times, but that has not helped. How do I solve this issue please? Thanks a heap.
Make sure the dll for the plugins is in whatever folder you have cakewalk set to search for plugins and they should show up.

Hi there, Thanks for this video it was a great help to me and I followed it through and installed from the Plugin Boutique (SynthMaster Free) it works great, however you also mentioned in this video the VST Steinberg folder so what free Steinberg VST plugin do I need to install to be able to install other VST plugins that require after download and unzipping to drag and place a dll file into the VST Steinberg folder (Example: Varasuvi Bongos and or the Indian Flute) which are also in the Plugin Boutique - Free section/Synth, I'm a total Noob to all this and I'm enjoying using the Bandlab - Cakewalk which I have been using now for several months and I'm stuck with this small problem and I'm asking for your kind help and guidance on this subject.

I'm able to get my plugins into Cakewalk with no issue. But when I open the vst plugin windows on a track, no noise is being produced when I play from my midi keyboard. The green sound bar responds, but I don't hear the actual presets from the plugin. Is there away to fix this?

Make sure you installed the plugin into a folder that Cakewalk searches for plugins. Or direct Cakewalk to search the folder that you did install it to. They have some instructions for installation on their site www.jamorigin.com/docs/daw/

What if the vst setup thing doesn't have the option to choose 64 or 32 bit like LAYERS orchestral tools does for me
If it doesn’t give you an option it’s likely either just 64 bit or just 32 bit. It should say somewhere on the website that you grabbed it from.

You need to go back into the Bandlab assistant and choose to install addons in the cakewalk install section.

I have installed add-ons, I have checked the Preference and Utilities, I have reset, I have scan many times. I have reinstalled...ooof! Still no VSTi. I haven't installed any VST3. That should not be the problem right? I learnt that at least 4 instruments come along with Cakewalk. But mine just sucks! Any solution?

@@AudioTechTV Thanks. I've since learned that I can use my stage piano and synthesizer for MIDI because someone told me you can use a standard printer cable to connect them to the PC. My keyboards are compatible with this anyway. I don't have the other kind of MIDI cable. And I learned the alt-0 shortcut.
But it's seeming my stage piano can't make the SynthMaster 2.9 make sound and I don't know why! Is that normal? It works with other things like the electric piano and strings ones. It would be cool if it could work with SynthMaster.
I also find there's a slight sound delay when playing music into Cakewalk with my stage piano and I'm yet to get to the bottom of that.
Also, my stage piano works for playing music into Cakewalk but my other keyboard doesn't and I don't know why yet.
howdy ... having an issue if someone could point me in the right direction.... downloaded a few plugins from pluginboutique - namely taqsim and drown by klang... both zip files... i extract them to plugin folder etc then scan in cakewalk as shown on your vid, but nothing shows up. there is no installation element- they're just zip file extractions. containing more files. any ideas?
I think both of those are instruments to be used within Native Instruments Kontakt. You can download the free Kontakt player and see if they work within that but not all Kontakt instruments can be used in kontakt player (the free version).
@Audio Tech TV what about AU plugins?
Cakewalk is a Windows program. AU is a Mac plugin format. Maybe there is some sort of AU to VST converter but I’m not familiar with that sort of thing.

Hi there! I just wanted to ask because I still encountered problems even though I watched your video. I've installed Project SAM The Free Orchestra as well as Kontakt player and Native Instruments. I did use a custom folder for Project SAM The Free Orchestra but I did do the steps you shown and input the correct file paths. I even added the folder of Kontakt Player but cakewalk still doesn't detect it and I don't know why. What do you think is the problem? I would really appreciate your reply. Thank you!
Make sure there is the .dll file for Kontakt in the folders that you’re adding. It might be kontakt.dll or something like that. The .dll file is what Cakewalk is looking for. It might have installed to a different folder.

do i always have to place vst´s in C/prgfile/vst because some of these vst´s dont show up in cakewalk ?
You can put them in any folder you want just make sure in the settings that you set cakewalk to look in that folder for plugins.
