Countries are planting trees 🌲 but Gambia is cutting down trees 🌲. What’s the reason behind this? Are we building roads in every corner of the country or are we just jealous of those who can afford to have such beautiful houses and are able to put up structures and plant trees 🌲 that many find useful while walking under the sunny Gambia and use the trees 🌲 as shades?

This is not even scratching the surface of the problems in Gambia. Random acts of destruction without proper equipment isn't going to make the country look any cleaner,or any more organised. It's still filthy and chaotic. People who think by doing this is going to solve all the issues, which are stopping correct development here. It'll still be like this in five years time.Government needs a proper long term plan, rather than useless acts of vandalism.

I am in full support of the clear the road operation..BUT, I dont get this part, perhaps someone can educate me in the comments section....i really feel people who have beautiful and well kept gardens in front of their houses should be left alone, because this adds beauty to the country. You see these in other African countries...please reconsider this one...Unless the government has plans to make residential areas beautiful..

Ensure that expecting mothers can deliver their babies in clean and safe hospital settings with qualified professionals. Do something to decrease the infant mortality rate. For your information making thousands of people unemployed, increasing hunger and the potential for more crime isn't beneficial for anyone.

This is irrational on so many fronts, and someone definitely fell asleep on the switch: why wait years after structures have been erected, then destroy them trying to cite the law? The law should have been enacted prior to these developments. Before any structure is erected or any enhancements made, there should be requirements that must be met, zoning and planning laws that must be in place and enforced at all levels of government, and regular inspections conducted. To wait until people have done these projects (whether legally or illegally) and then show up with limited "in the law," explanations are totally despicable. Someone fell asleep at the switch!

We all need clean and safe roads but this operation has been messy from day 1. Not surprised as it is directed by a clueless leader who has zero compassion for the poor people he leads. A clearheaded leader would have provided better planning for the majority poor and the few rich concerned. Remember the poor hungry children who are waiting on these brave women. Most of the people running this operation have been fed, clothed and schooled by brave women who sell in the streets and markets to support this dying economy.

seriously the guy who is in charge of this demolition with the blue striped shirt is speakiing some kind of strange english and is very unclear...does the government believe that everyone is busy reading pressreleases left and right when they are struggling to find enough money for the day ? Such nonsence . Gambia Government really have to COMMUNICATE to each and every individual who is making their living along the main roads and also to the compound owners that there will be demolition at their gates. This behaviour is so shameful.

I don't know why he is complaining but by the look of it. No 1 pray for that but imagine that house was on fire Bridget won't be able to go close to the house. If there is traffic and the ambo need to pass. Wheel chair use also been force to use the mean road putting there life in danger. If you decorate infront of your house and your opposite neighbours decide to do the same. Is like claiming ownership which is wrong.

Those fire trucks are driven by humans and is your responsibility to turn on your siren and watch out for pedestrians before you take off doing 100mph in those tiny roads. What you mean the trucks run fast and the runway is narrow? Ya'll responsibilities is to serve and protect.
