- This week's video is quite the journey! I ship the van to Orkney and spend the next 48 hours exploring the islands and getting the night ferry to Shetland.
It's safe to say I was knackered by the end of the trip, but it's been my favourite part of travelling in Scotland so far.
I hope you enjoy the video. Let me know in the comments if you did!
I've now rejoined the NC500 and will be exploring the North West part of the route in next week's video.
Thank you for watching, supporting, and keeping me company on the road!
Love how you've managed to capture your nervous/excited energy. You also capture the realities of solo travel really well too👍🏻
Good video as always. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellent video, thankyou for sharing it.
Enjoyed your Shetland adventure video. We are headed there ourselves in August. Hopefully the wind doesn't reek havoc on our video 🤞
Thank you for a wonderful sightseeing trip, I loved it! Your courage is amazing and cool :)
Really enjoyed this video. Safe travels.
Tattie scones are usually easy to get anywhere here in Scotland but the buttery is generally an Aberdeen found thing, quite often in wee places people just make their own tattie scones as it’s sooo easy! Well done doing that journey in 24 hours……definitely not for the faint of heart 😂 x
Helen.
Love the video and fair play for doing an amazing trip in 48hrs.
I am a Londoner and I will definitely will be doing this trip.
Seems so peaceful and quality off life.
Thanks for a great vid:)
Wonderful, glad you enjoyed your island hopping. Haven't done Orkney or Shetland but did a quick whistle stop tour of North and South Uist, Harris and Lewis, but there is so much to see on those islands just didn't give myself enough time. Looking forward to next week as you continue your NC500 travels, looks like you are having a great trip .👍
Can’t believe you went all that way and had so much time and didn’t go to Sakarya Brae 😲
What an adventure!... It's never boring with you!
Erm... The wrong port?! 😳
🤦🏻♂️ Awww🤣
Fabulous videos of a part of the world I have always wanted to visit. I've subscribed as I want to follow the rest of your North Coast 500 trip. Great stuff.
Thanks so much for subscribing, Peter! I'm glad you liked the video
Looking at doing Orkney sometime in 2023 after getting a recommendation on tiktok didn’t realise you went Helen until I starting searching for vids on RUclips haha
That was absolutely amazing, such an experience. Sorry I did not realise you were a foot passenger when I saw your post on Instagram. So so beautiful to explore the Isles. Keep having a wonderful time, fabulous to follow your adventures 👍
Just found your channel and have subscribed, for a so called novice your video production is excellent. I have just returned back from a motor cycle tour of the Shetlands which I found very impressive looking forward to following your adventures, take care and stay safe.
haha crazy, i live up the road from newark...was there today with my dog...lol..
So so so jealous lol......i will get my T5 up there one day but yet again Helen an amazing video well done lass
That was a lovely video, thoroughly enjoyed it Helen. I admire your adventurous spirit, I packbacked around the world, but it doesn’t seem as exciting as your solo adventure…☺️
Hi Helen
Watched 17 of your videos (really enjoyed them) just wondering why you stopped blogging?.(you are a natural at it. If you are still travelling it would be great if you started again.
Thanks for all the entertainment 👍
New adventures soon :)
Amazing video! always wanted to go to Orkney and the Shetlands, good choice on not going to the £12 prehistoric village, doesn't look like there would be much there. How many steps had you done? 😂
Are you still traveling and posting? I am enjoying your video and appreciated your anxiety about driving onto the boat. I would feel the same.
New adventures soon :)
I am moving to live there by myself soon. Promise !
Sorry can’t believe you didn’t take the opportunity to do a walk through the unique towns of Kirkwall and Lerwick. A span around the harbour would have also been good. Those large lifeboats are pretty special. Some countries have nothing like them.
Hi Matthew, I agree! I wish I had filmed more in both towns. I'm learning the process of filming loads of clips to ultimately tell a story and paint a full picture of what a place is really like. I'd like to think I'm getting better at it. Thank you for the feedback
just not enough time to see any of the 2 islands.
have you seen any dolphins on your travels yet?
Hi I am interested in visiting Shetland. Can you buy a caravan and pay rent to put it on a private Croft and. I have booked a holiday to The Iyland of Arran on the 3 off Against 2023 have you been to the Iyland off Arran. Thank you Dobspato Newcastle Upon Tyne England.
