Yes. Different to regular Technicolor. I believe the Americans sold the process to the Japanese? What were they thinking? Now if the studios want to use it thy have to buy it back. Is that right? Pearl Harbor, the film, used it I believe in an effort to give the film a 40's feel. And whether you liked it or not - and I did - it was gorgeous to look at.
I love the little dance she does. And her angelic face! RIP Marilyn. Thank you for all the wonderful moments you gave us and for being such a uniquely special person. Justice for Marilyn.
Definitely one of the BEST scenes in movie history. Marilyn OWNS this and makes it look effortless. When Olivier met her, he knew she would be the star.
Watching her is about the only thing you can save from this movie, and there are a few good comedy moments, especially involving her and Sybil Thorndike, but the movie does not work as a whole and there is no chemistry between her and Olivier. And I swear the coronation scene has to be one of the most boring in the entire history of cinema!
@@canalsoloparaverunvideodem8451 Sir Olivier was reportedly hated her at that time because she often showed up late on the set & forgot her lines over & over. I guess that's why they had no chemistry.
@@P.Whitestrake Maybe, who knows. But there are many movies that were hell to shoot and you can't tell from the final result. Wizard of Oz, for instance.
I know I was never near around her time but I will forever miss Marilyn and her unforgettable and unique charm. I can’t name one person who is yet to catch that special thing which made Marilyn, Marilyn. I wish her life was less tragic than it was 😢
It was written fifty years after the films setting, but it's lightness and peirside tunefulness captures the gaiety of a prewar time. Also Monroe dancing happily contrasts very strongly with the sadness that followed so quickly in her life. Makes this scene really poignant. Very well shot, acted and scored.
Michel Williams was awesome in this movie, is the reason she got the OSCAR I never heard of this movie until today 12\19\20 the film industry made Norma Gene a goddess , but it came with a price , but she made her movies what they are today CLASSICS thank you Marilyn Monroe aka Norma Gene .
we all know that she was pregnant during the filming of this movie, she lost the baby during the filming of this movie, the movie was stopped, after a few weeks it continued, she was criticized so much and she lost what she loved the most, a baby, because she worked on this movie.
Agreed! back then it was stunning colours and curves, women who were glamorous. Now its just women dropping their knickers on screen every 5 minutes with tons of makeup to make them look average. This is true as now everyone wants to pretend to be Marilyn, from Kim, the fake tan fatso, to that awful actress in Blonde pretending to be abused throughout the movie. Nobody like Marilyn, other women who want to be famous now just need to admit she had something special and find their own thing.🎉
Olivier and she were wonderful. The one movie you can't find anywhere because she produced it. Despite every effort by Miller and 20th Century Fox to crash and burn it. Biting the hand that feeds you was Arthur's true calling, not writing.
It's a charming film but not helped by the fact that most of it was shot in a studio. Despite all the chatter about how Lawrence Olivier hated her - in one of his last interviews it is clear that he didn't. The person he loathed was Marilyn's acting coach, Natasha Lytees who Olivier rightly believed was her biggest handicap. She created an illusion for Marilyn that she couldn't do the job without her help. He was surprised when he saw the rushes how magical Marilyn was on the screen, when in fact she appeared to be doing nothing. She knew the cameras and he didn't. But she was difficult, no doubt about that. Every director tells the same story. Enchanting though.
Beautiful woman..So sad she ended her life so young..Michelle Williams potraying of Marilyn in My Week with Marilyn is awfull...But when you think Kennet Branagh's potraying of Olivier is dissaster..Rip Marilyn ..

Look carefully and you'll notice that from 0:57 to 0:59 the artifact affects the entire portion of the frame, when her body crosses it, it also gets distorted. Either lens imperfection as Neerja said, or the film was bent
Does anyone know why her hair has that odd bun? I can't tell if she had unusually long hair that they're trying to make look like her iconic short cut, or her iconic cut with a fake bun pinned in so they can pretend it's longer.
the movie is set in 1911 when most women had very long hair, but since it was filmed in the 50s when short hair was fashionable (and Marilyn did not have time to grow out her own hair) they added the clip on bun to make it a bit more accurate
What lovely colours! They make everything look beautiful. Modern movies and TV look so boring and unattractive.
Yes, Gold Hollywood is the best! They put SO much effort in it, in every detail. Just everything so beautiful
Technicolor was brilliant technology.
Very true the only director who makes colours come alive these days is Wes Anderson

Such as they are, or rather were.
This movie is so underrated. This is some of Marilyn's best acting.

What a woman! 💗
No one-and i mean no one could work the camera like Marilyn
For me Marilyn is two things: the most beautiful woman on cinema´s history, and the best actress ever for the romantic comedy as genre.
To this day, Marilyn is still the Worlds Biggest Star!

I love it and the cute colours
I absolutely love this movie. That dance is so cute.

So sad how natural bodies aren’t normalized anymore ;(
So the red haired woman with the blue dress in the middle is Judi Dench?
JD born 1934-12-9, so would have been 22+, so I don't _think_ so - JD is also not very tall.

She had an Endo belly. Good to see celebs who didn't hide it
it was normal, right now you need to be flat , she was slim in 50-60 but nowadays she wont be slim just normal. but in 50-60s she was slim
Was she pregnant
was going to say the same. It looks like she has a (small) baby bump. From what I read, she did suffer a miscarriage during the filming of this movie.
Мерелин красива безумно , но сзади видны не только красивые бедра , но и проблемы с почками

she was overweight in this movie with that pregnant looking stomach
