- The Nissan Patrol 4WD is a proper, old-school off-roader with a V8 engine and a frame chassis. Is the Patrol better than its chief rival, the Toyota Land Cruiser? Sporting a new design outside, the 2020 Patrol aims to be more competitive - though Australia misses out on the new interior, for now. Such a pity Australia didn't get the interior update but I reckon it's a strategic move to combat the new Landcruiser when it gets released later on and obviously they can release a S6. Even the all new 2020 Isuzu D-max has a much better interior! Huge upgrade from the Colorado copy.

@@chasingcars Actually probably because Australia is a tiny percentage of the market they just recycled S4 interiors to use up out of date stock 😂 Still it was a decision made to not upgrade it, someone at a meeting said let's use the old interior for Australia, fuck them.

What a goddamn stunning, slick, beautiful and futuristic car, the interior is absolutely gorgeous as well, so simplistic and so mature. Really great and nicely shot video guys love the colour coding and cinematography, as a casual photographer in honestly very impressed! I have the Nissan patrol. Its the best. I have the Nissan patrol platinum (Most expensive version.) And its totally worth the money. The one I have actually has two screens in the front.

i think six generations up until now which is Y62 not five generations...which makes the Patrol one of the most reliable 4WD ever in my opinion.

my 2000 GU patrol is 3030 over the weigh bridge with tanks full. Can confirm its over engineered drive train requires some forward thinking when it comes to braking. Did you know the new 200 series CANNOT be bought in diesel. ONLY hybrid... Nissans time to shine.
so, when talking about body roll, etc.. what are you comparing that too? cos you cant compare a car like this to a WRX.. But compared to the only other big SUV on the market??
I believe that petrol engines are on the rebound as unleaded is up to 20c/l cheaper than diesel not to mention cost effective service costs
No certainty that this advantage will be long-term, of course.
In NZ we pay road tax on diesel engines and when factored into the running costs the petrol cost is not so much

I was shown around the old shape a while ago and loved it, other than the look. This one I love full stop. However.... lets not go too far about a proper old school 4wd. independent front and rear suspension? The y61 is old school, this isn't.

Is the patrol still as reliable as before? I love the lc, but that price difference and my preference for the patrol's looks makes the lc hard to like.

Whilst DVD players are retro, they don't need 4G connection, so they're still a great option. Problem is the poor middle person/kid misses out!

Supply issues apparently. Hopefully the interior upgrade rolls out later this year.
I think because they haven't developed a right hand drive interior yet, only left hand drive.

john bose it uses less fuel than diesel towing and drives much nicer so the smart people park their coin in a patrol not the sheep.

Agreed with the above! Not our area of expertise if I am honest.
Theres a 2in and 4in lift available. With regards to tyres, there are people running 37in tyres on a 4in lift. You can run 35in tyres on stock suspension but you'll need wheels with at least a +25 offset.

these kind of cars should be diesel only, maybe gasoline for special purposes ( extremely cold temps etc )

16K for the bells and whistles. This is exactly what I hated about Audi Q5. The Ti is perfect for it's price and perfect for going outback. Nearly everything is superfluous on the Ti-l. Take the screens at the rear. Kids have tablets these days anyway.

The car not receiving interior update is not true. IT arrived in the middle east last year and it has a refreshed interior with it totally different . There's two infotainment screens an much more. I think manufacturers like Nissan and Toyota who still sell their good old mammoth SUVs are in a dilemma trying to make their successful combos current. I wish If Nissan could have included the new 9 spd auto and changes to the interior or just tech to make it current

@@chasingcars those things are gas hugs , the diesel should be a great option from reputable engine manufacturers like Cummins which once made a 5l turbo diesel for the Nissan titan in the US
There is definitely something wrong with this car. The 2020 refreshed Y62 Patrol has a newly designed interior. Two screens and a bigger gauge cluster screen. In this video, i can see only the exterior has changed, other than that it's the same interior since 2009...

When you actually work out the difference in what you save on an LC200 Sahara versus a Patrol Ti-L, it‘s over a decade of petrol until you hit what you would have spent on a Cruiser

i own a landcruiser and my friend owns this car. its a nice car with v powerful engine but i really prefer my landcruiser, it has a more practicle interior and i like my tail gate....it has two sections. plus i dont like patrols interior.....we pushed our cars to limits on a giant dune.....patrol had some smell frm cluth plate and the engine air filter was fullll of sand ....in landcruiser 200....no smell nothing....air intake position is better and v less sand....almost zero was found in air filter....really....we felt landcruiser has no issue takinh abuse. i feel much more confident with my car. would buy lc200 any day.

Problem is this guy is having a honeymoon with this car. Come back to reality and you'll see just how pathetic this car has gotten. It's good, but rivals are better. Gls is great and lexus are preparing to release the new lx. Patrol face-lift as great, but we really need the rest of the car to be modernised and sustainable. Lighter build, modern interior, better power train
To be fair, the rivals you've mentioned are way more expensive than the Patrol.
@@chasingcars I'm in South Africa, we have mostly similar cars/markets. Here it's actually same price as Toyota Land cruiser 200,which starts at 900k and tops at 1.4 million. The patrol costs 1.43 million. And even if they're expensive,people can manipulate many things to pay low monthly installments like interest, etc
