JJ was one step quicker than everyone on the floor, on our team at least. His urgency created a frenzy missing without him. When he brought the ball down on offense with lightning speed, the other team was vulnerable and defense would be threatened. This was especially true setting up three point shot possibilities. Guys like Chris Bell needed that extra space to shoot that only JJ’s speed could create.
I don’t know what you were watching, but I saw a Syracuse team that gave up so many defensive rebounds to Albany! Furthermore, Albany cut a 24 point lead to about 11 with about five or six minutes left in the game. If that didn’t make anyone nervous, it’s just hard to believe. I’m rooting for Carlos, with a look on his face down the stretch that looked like someone who was almost scared! There is still no definitive point guard. And Albany isn’t that much better than Chaminade. Was a happy they got a win, absolutely! But this was, by no means, the kind of convincing when they should be having against teams like this! As much work to be done, but it is still early in the season and I try to remain as hopeful as ever. But please, that was HARDLY dominating, despite the eventual 17 point win!
I witnessed U lose a 34 point second half lead vs. UMASS in the 2008 NIT. So, yes, I was nervous when a 24 point lead got down to 11. Even passing point guards have to score enough to get the defense to guard him so that when he is looking to pass his four teammates are not covered by 5 guys. JC has to penetrate and score on lay-ups or pull-ups to be effective.
Red has to stop the 5 player sub. This was something that is not done for something that happened in the 1975 ncaa tournament. Su was playing North Carolina and the north Carolina coach called a time out with a hard earned 6 pt lead.in marches the blue team . This team was the supposed to be defensive specialists who finish off their opposition . When they limped off the court su was up 5 and on their way to victory with Jimmie Lee's shot heard around the world and our first final 4
Maybe this team, loaded with an obscene amount of talent, actually heard the hearts of fans' breaking at their lack of giving 1 brown, round corn flecked sh!t about syracuse standard.
Not sure when JJ gets back.Maybe they can get 2-3 wins before that. I have written off a tourney team but maybe they get it going by Feb and work there way into the ACC tourey. Save Red's job though he will likely not be given more than A third year.
Defense gave up 42 points in the first 28 minutes, BUT the defense gave up 43 points (?!?!) in the final 12 minutes That's as bad a D as you can get...almost 4 points per minute in that stretch
Not a very encouraging win vs cupcakes. This team just can’t play defense… How do you only get one steal vs team like Albany… How do you give up 10 3 pointers and some being wide open shots… And our two only 3 point shooters Moore and Bell 0-5… They missed several wide open shots and are so inconsistent… we rebounded well and shot FTs well but there are so many red flags… Again I’m not sure if this team will beat any quality teams in the ACC.
Dominates? 102-85 isn’t domination. It was close the whole first half. Funny how far this program has fallen. Jackson have you ever played a lick of basketball in your life?
The defense looked lackadaisical and they were scoring at will especially the last 9 minutes… I don’t understand how Syracuse can only get 1 steal against a team like Albany… Unfortunately this team probably will not beat any quality opponents this season😮😅

Driving to the basket! Make the defense react - layup, foul or kick out - help defender may even leave a perimeter shooter open! Radical!!

They still was letting Albany get a lot of easy offensive rebounds. Also They only got 1 steal to Albany 9 steals.
