  • Complete method of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) ankle taping. NOTE having the ankle taped by a trainer, coach or team manager is preferred to taping yourself if possible. But this is useful if you have no access to a trained taper, and HAVE your own heel & lace pads, skinlube, adhesive and prowrap (using these is strongly recommended if you have access to them, in order to prevent tape cuts, blisters, and possible infection).

Thank you for this video...my son injured his ankle during football practice up in Oregon and since I'm not there to wrap his ankle, he needed something to instruct him. I sent him this video. Thank you again!!!

I use both, it depends on the situation. Both have been shown to be effective in preventing ankle injuries. Advantages of bracing - lower cost in the long run; self applied; less skill required for application. Tape may fit better in the shoe and also offers more opportunity to customize the application based on the injury. If you do brace, make sure its done effectively, and is on tight enough to restrict the ankle mobility.

it's hard to describe without being in person. the ankle should be secure and restricted after taping; many people develop preferences (tighter/less tight) but too tight can produce blisters or discomfort, while too loose makes the tape job ineffective. Remember your objective is to stabilize the ankle and maintain it in a secure position.

Thanks Travis for this video ... I have 3 questions for you .. From a range of 0 to 10 , how tight must the tape be and does the tightness differ on different parts of the foot ? When you're done, how do you manage to take all that tape off ?? :P ... Thanks in advance

+Enduro Riders lots of people choose a lace up brace for that reason. Risk of reinjury is elevated for 1 to 2 years after initial sprain
