The reason people say that mage vs mage is boring is because, at lower levels of skill, they just clear wave, and stay afk underturret, they can't see errors, they don't see hitting an ability and dodging one as winning, winning is either killing or getting an objective
I started watching your content when I began learning midlane 2 months ago and I liked your videos a lot, but I feel like I just had some sort of break-through this week that made me play better and also understand your content on a deeper level than before. Might need to revisit the things I watched in the beginning :D thank you so much for all the work you put into your videos and for answering so many of my questions in your stream :)
This is also my favorite matchup too. I have played both sides of it and it really feels like a game of intense skillshot chess. In my last round I was Orianna and I did beat the syndra out of lane with the W max build.
Hi i don't comment often but I wanted to say I really like your content! It's very informative, no fluff. I think I went from d4 to d2 just by implementing stuff you advise. Thanks!
Did you ever encountered other youtubers? btw insane that you managed to upload all these detailed videos and almost rank 1. you make it seem so easy. How many hours do you have to play to reach this kind of level?
Not that many other youtubers on my server, and I'm not sure how many hours total I'd have played but I would guess I've played at least 20k games if not more
You poke them while slowpushing the wave, crashing 2nd or 3d wave. Then poke them under tower and when the wave bounces back to you, you respect them and stay back as they will hit lvl 4 earlier in a bounce. Basically TLDR- Respect the assassin on the wave bounce and neglect them from roaming with slowpushing
@@Chainedlol The ganking aspect is the most frustrating part of this imo. If enemy jungle plays around their assassin mid you can't punish them properly wave 2/3/4 (or worse, they kill you) and then your lane is essentially unwinnable since the assassin wil typically always be miles ahead just by going equal after level 6 / first base. So at that point I think you just try to afk waveclear with whatever safe poke you can do, push wave when you know they roam, and play to win through grouping and teamfighting. If you do manage to get in poke it can be really really huge, because many assassins can't quite all-in you when they are low. You can't win 1v1, but you can deny them the win 1v1 and they *have* to win 1v1 to be nearly as useful. Also be hyperaware if you have any spells that shut down the all-in (Vladimir W, Veigar E, Syndra E) and almost always hold them to deny engages. Case in point, I played Aurelion Sol into Zed yesterday, tried to pressure him level 2, got a few super good trades but got ganked and lost flash and died. From that point on the lane is literally totally over - Zed just pokes with W for ~40% of my HP and then dives me on repeat under tower with R. That's just life playing a mage. I think you have to get a ward in early enough not to die to 3 camp mid gank, lean that side and accept that if the enemy jungler shows up your window to push a win in the 1v1 is lost. The only two asterixes to add to this is that whilst your 1v1 is very bad you should watch your jungle and support, because they might help you and if they do it can be really strong and you can just kill the enemy mid. The other asterix is that in the vast majority of games the enemy assassin will make mistakes that you can punish hard with range advantage, so even though on paper it's nothing to do in the 1v1 you have to be on the lookout for and know to recognize when they make mistakes and punish. Anyways that is just my take :)
@@theWebWizrd I think thats a pretty accurate take, to allow to slowpush you need a decent ward and it is also matchup dependet. e.g. if they have shaco jungle, you can never slowpush because he will show up and one tab you. Important is though that one keep in mind that mid lane is not a 1v1 lane in many games and consider the other variables when thinking about wave management in that specific matchup aswell
first strike for scaling and good overall, if u want to bully in lane comet electrocute and especially aery are good too, they are more early game focused i also usually go first strike in most matchups
What’s your opinion on Garen mid for low elo? His W rank buffed to 4 secs level 1 and insane wave clear. Hes the highest wr mid by far in lower ranks. I pick him into assassins but most mages don’t know to harass him either.
Ludens is probably better than seraphs now about the buff, shadowflame isn't really viable if you have multiple AP champs on your team because they will buy MR too quickly
Nothing ever works out perfectly though, whenever I pull through and have a decent lane even after roaming bot and getting a few kills to put myself ahead I always seem to loose and I'm really stuck at the moment because I cannot get out of the S4/B1 death spiral. I dont play like a bronze/silver but I'm matched into players who also don't play at my "level" and I have no idea what the difference between iron and emerald is anymore. Should I just stop playing league? Make a new acc with fresh MMR? Or just try and winstreak against all matchmaking odds. I'm really at a loss here Shok.
Hmm I mean if it's not fun I would stop playing. Otherwise I'd recommend just going through my fundamental videos and trying to learn 1 skill at a time. I'll be doing unranked to masters soon too so that could show you some of the ways to carry in lower elo.
If your games usually end in 15-20 minutes then imo you are not stabilizing the game, then you are playing in a way that actively destabilizes the game and that makes early game more significant. According to Leagueofgraphs the average gametime for a gold game including surrenders is 30 minutes (and essentially the same for plat), and when you are playing Anivia you should be very actively trying to make the game go longer. So that means to focus more on clearing waves to deny enemy team to get towers, it means not doing crazy all-ins and not fighting objectives when behind. In my opinion mages generally don't do that well in the early game, but I would play something more oriented towards roaming and skirmishing and that plays well with one item. I would look at Ahri, Taliyah, Diana, Lissandra, Zoe, Neeko, Vex in that order personally for the current meta
It's overall a better item because of the extra AP (which synergizes with 120 syndra stacks + dcap) and for the shield. The build path is worse though so you shouldn't build it every game.
really sad man! i hate when people don't understand the state of the game and try to force something you clearly can't do (like that voids fight). even in your elo you face this shit, so i guess the rest of us are doomed! gg wp!

Happy syndra main :D, also that gold income is crazy. 213 CS at 20 minutes with two turrets is a gg in my book

It's a bit random at the moment I'm afraid...
Mage vs Mage is the most fun there is in league. Delete all assassins.
What would be your rune recommendations for syndra, I use first strike almost every game and I'm wondering if there are better options?
first strike for scaling and good overall, if u want to bully in lane comet electrocute and especially aery are good too, they are more early game focused
i also usually go first strike in most matchups
Comet for mage vs mage, phase rush if you need the mobility vs ganking jg/supps, first strike if you can get away with it
