- Hello everyone! In this video I will be showing off all of my finds from shop hunting and vending machine hunting which I did in April, including some of my shop hunt finds in Spain. We ended up getting some spectacular commemorative coins and even a crazy foreign find!

[1] - The currency this coin belongs to was the Malagasy Franc. Indeed, 5 Franc = 1 Ariary. However, this was actually a "superunit" - that means, the Franc was the main currency of Madagascar and the Ariary was a larger unit of the Franc. As a matter of fact, the currency was further subdivided into 1 franc = 100 centimes, so there were three currency units in circulation, unlike 2 units which are present in Europe and most other countries.
In 2005, however, the currency was reformed. The Ariary became the main unit of the Malagasy currency (which was now named the Malagasy ariary) and the Franc was renamed to the "iraimbilanja" (which you can actually see written on the coin). The centime was dropped. The conversion rate of 1 iraimbilanja = 1/5 ariary is still in use, however - so both the pre-2005 and post-2005 currencies are non-decimalized. However, the iraimbilanja is so hyperinflated that its coins are rarely in use anymore. Which makes it even more curious as to how the coin managed to find its way here!

Yep indeed :( but at least we know they are out there, given that SM 2004 was found by someone recently, in Vienna too :)
1:55 i wrote an e-mail to münze österreich asking for the 2023 mintage numbers - they said it will be published mid 2024
Interesting that they moved it to mid 2024 now... I got 2022 mintages in Jan. 2023 and they said to write back in Jan. 2024 to get the mintages for this year. That was the same message which also let us know that AT Erasmus is 2.54 mil... 🤔
That makes me think that there is no fixed mintage, rather they just mint by demand.
@@cadeurhunter that might be the case, because they wrote exactly this - "Wir führen noch keine Prägezahlen für das Jahr 2023, diese werden Mitte 2024 publiziert."
and if they don't have mintage numbers now, how should they have some later?
