Everyone, please feel free to comment with corrections ; ). Yes, the 604 uses the smaller CD, it was a slip of the tongue in the video. Both cover the 500Hz-20kHz range though, although the 802 has a much more massive motor and higher efficiency.
Hi Janos. How do the 817 cabinets support two 416 drivers on either side and they are used in large (ish) living rooms. They mostly have only one compression driver up top (288 maybe). Do they load the room with too much energy? Will appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks
There is a lot about cabinets design on the internet for the 604E, but it’s difficult to sort between what makes senses what doesn’t ! For instance nautical birch ply construction with lots of bracing and audio isolation foam, or thinner aero birch ply without bracing… Do you have any particular recommandation ?
Hello Tilq, the heavy bracing way yields a sound which feels as "you are in control", but it's also more predictable and your attention is focused on the faults in the recordings first, and music enjoyment comes second. The thinner cabinet walls give a life-like energy and breathing midrange, but it can also give you the feeling that "I am not in control of the music", yet allows to hear the differences between recordings to a greater degree, and lets you focus on music first without placing the shortcomings to the limelight. Personally, I prefer a light cabinet approach as it provides significantly higher efficiency, but as I told in previous videos, there needs to be a solid frame that restricts baffle resonances to a single plane. In this case, the cabinet acts as an amplifier (as a double bass body or piano) instead as a random oscillator. I will talk about this, and how can one achieve it in future videos ;
I have a 1000sq ft open terrace can I use Open Baffel speakers example dual 15” PA high efficacy woofers and a Fullrange to support that. Or I need a boxed speaker. Application is for dance music during party
Not sure, never tried OB for big places. One key consideration: for big places & dance music one of the biggest obstacles is reaching high SPL without distortion. Closed box will give you quite a bit of extra SPL (+6dB), so that might be the tipping point to choose box cabinets for big places. Cheers, Janos ;
Love my KT88 driven A7 VOTTs I my living room ❤

The 902 is not 1.4" throat. It is also 1". 802-8G is alnico magnet. The 902-8b is not.

Pl explanation of Hiraga's crossover for VOTT for domestic use.

Hi. Great information.
I have the Altec model 15. How do you feel about them?
I have not had the fortune to listen to them :( Should be very good!
What do you think about the VOTT A7? Is it a worthy high efficiency speaker?
