    Looks like you were pretty far south. I saw the new cranes in the background.

    Went out crabbing this weekend in southern Maryland, clear water and next to zero nettles.... can’t ask for much more: thank you again for the videos

      We haven't seen many Jellyfish this year. Did you catch any crabs?

      @@CrabdadCJ the crabbing was fantastic, 3 hours and we nearly filled a bushel... lots of heavy females mixed in that were released

    We still got trees comin down the susky. Makes test driving boats a little tricky

    • @CrabdadCJ
      @CrabdadCJ  3 года назад

      Good to know. I haven't seen much debris at all. Just grass.

    • @brankohodzic
      @brankohodzic 3 года назад

      Yes, especially if they are just slightly submerged and give little or no visual signs on the surface. Is testing boats part of your profession?

    Just curious if you could help me understand a couple of the benefits of long lining crab pots over there its just seems like a lot of extra work pulling up the whole string then setting it all back down again and if that buoy get cut all those pots are gone not just one

    • @CrabdadCJ
      @CrabdadCJ  3 года назад

      Boat traffic is terrible here. I use to lose hundreds of pots a year. Now very few. I mark all my rows so if both ends get cut I can drag for the line. It's very rare to lose both hawks.

      @@CrabdadCJ makes sense im guessing since all those pots are tied together they dont budge too much cause if we get a good blow with the tide our pots will be 100yards away if not gone by morning interesting how close we are but completely different styles

    • @CrabdadCJ
      @CrabdadCJ  3 года назад

      Not much tide here. We use 1/2 inch irons.

    Crabbing has been great up here in the rivers. Last weekend was my record best, this weekend was even better. 5 traps with two keepers in one pull.

    Wonder if the Brown booby means a bad winter, I know the whitetail deer coats up here in PA got really dark early this year. They say that's a sign of a cold winter coming

    • @CrabdadCJ
      @CrabdadCJ  3 года назад

      Tell ya in April. Haha. I hope not. Hard winters are bad for the crabs.

    Me and my dad carb in the same bodkin we crab in front of your boat on the other side of the wood thing and we have a quiestion why are there so many females and we crab there three to two times a week we are in the back cove

    • @CrabdadCJ
      @CrabdadCJ  3 года назад +1

      There is always a run of females this time of year. They have been shedding and doubling up with the males for the last month and a half. They will leave in the next couple weeks to head south so they can spawn out in the spring.
