5:02 the step here was a little quick, since you skipped writing it down (not enough space on that board in general). We now start from top to bottom 2*A + 7? Wait, why didn't we do anything with the reminder 8 and 3?
Thank you so much TvT, you just saved me. My extension maths homework is due tmr, and I wasn't listening when the teacher explained the multiplying part of hexadecimal and I can't find my Dirichlet chapter(explaining stuff) book
After 9, it goes into letters, as in a,b,c,d,e,f etc how far do the letter go; numerically you begin at 0 and to keep things in a range can't go up to 1000, but there are only 26 letters in an alphabet ? You lost me on how to do the calculation, for example, how do I calculate in terms of RGB, lets say; 120,56,34 which is a brown color, how do you calculate this to Hex ?
+The Christopher In base 16 (hexadecimal), allowable digits are 0 - F (where F represents 15). To convert from RGB to hex, you will convert each rgb value to hex, then concatenate your new hex strings. Let’s use your example: rgb(120,56,34). To convert 120, 120/16 = 7 R8, 7/16 = 0 R7, so the first hex string is 78. Now we will convert 56: 56/16 = 3 R8, 3/16 = 0 R3. The second hex string is 38. Finally, 34 in hex is 34/16 = 2 R2, 2/16 = 0 R2. The last string is 22. The hexadecimal value is #783822. Note that we did not use any letters because none of our remainders exceeded 9. I hope this helps!
+The Christopher It is true that 120 divided by 16 is 7.5. That is the same as saying 7 with a remainder of 8 because 16 times 7 equals 112 with 8 left over and 8 is half of 16. Base 16 goes from 0 to 15 but once we get past 9, we substitute letters for digits: 10 = A, 11 = B, 12 = C, 13 = D, 14 = E, and 15 = F. I hope this aids your understanding.
+dranel alivio Thanks for your question. The computation itself isn't very time consuming once you've mastered the process. My example is longer because I am giving background information and working out each step in detail. The process really shouldn't take any longer than a multiplication problem in Base 10.
God bless you, im 1day before my exam and you just saved me, thank yoouuuu
Thank you so much for this quick and easy explanation! You explain way better than my professors do
kelly老师您好,我看懂了。对于一般人比较难。首先需要掌握十六进制转换十进制的方法之后就容易了。谢谢老师的详细讲解。有个建议,希望能配上字幕解说更容易理解。
Thanks for the class. Even I do not speak English, I could understand perfectly.

Base 16 only goes from 0 - F or up to (15) ?
As we both know; 120/16 = 7.5. Where did you get 7 R8 ?

I assume, 16=G, 17=H etc etc ?

7 R8 so you drop the .5 ?
If the number was 96 you would simply have for the first hex 66 ?
Appreciate it! Very helpful!
Thankyou very much you made it so easier to understand!!
is there another way to make the computation shorter ?
