Why they would call it this when her brother's iconic Rock With You is a classic, is beyond me...bad marketing. Naturally with the word association people would compare.
SabrinaChang628 I wish it was done by her but she’s just a main dancer, choreo is done by Gil Duldulao. Online it explains his inspiration for the choreo..pretty cool.
If Janet made 50 more videos of her just walking from place to place and breaking into hot choreography...that's all I need for the rest of my life. She's been doing it since '86 and it never gets old.
+Talisha Carter The BEST concert I have EVER been to was "Velvet Rope" in Atlanta. When she brought that guy onstage to do "Rope Burn," it was the funniest, sexiest, best concert moment I have ever seen. And she picked the perfect guy . . . he played to the crowd like you wouldn't believe. Even Janet had trouble staying in "sexy mode" and not laughing! That was the best 2 1/2 hrs of entertainment I've ever seen.
this video could have some cuts in the parts that the light turns off... but it could be one shot as well! for me this and the Janet’s dance are incredible
it's not one take, you can see at 1:40 and 3:15, the light gets blurry and when she reappears her place doesn't seem so logical, So of course they stopped and took back. But still a very impressive performance by her and the team.
Living Well With TJ Oh course she was in the same position she was in before. That's how special effects are done so it looks like it was all one uninterrupted take. Calm down.
This video is not shot in one take. The segments are, but there are at least three takes. There are something called transition effects that they use in order to make it look like one take but this video was shot in continuous segments but not one take.
I agree. What she doesn't have in vocals like other female artists, she makes it up in her performances. She may not be a singer like Beyonce (and I hate to be that one to throw her name in there) but she makes it up in her dancing. With that being said, Janet knows how to dance, unlike said person. All she knows how to do is shake her ass like a stripper
+YOUNG BRODIE It looks (at the beginning) like it's "Bob Fosse-inspired" (people moving differently - watch the opening number of "Chicago" and see if you don't see similarities).
+YOUNG BRODIE RIGHT!! just like when "if" came out in '93, that was ahead of it's time, she ate that schitt UP!! Janet was like Michael, so freaking vanguardist. How lucky were we to live in their eras ? Albums, clips, vocals and choreographies everything were studied, you can enjoy it forever.
Received the message Ms. JACKSON was delivering and it still was classy, damm these artists now a days need to take notes, clothes on, no ridiculous body parts grinding shocking your eyes out of socket, class, class, just classy, we need it in our life, I won't it in my life, gotta have it in my life!!!!!!!! No crazy effects, scene cuts and over the top editing.. just an amazing continuous shot of Janet, a beautiful set with amazing dancers, outfits and choreography. Absolutely stunning! They don’t music videos like this anymore.
By Far one of the greatest music videos I have ever seen! Everything is perfect. The fact that the whole film is not cut/edited is mind blowing. It just shows again how much effort was put to create that video. Years ago, when I once had cable TV, I was fortunate enough to come across this video on a music channel; it never left my mind. "Discipline" has to be one of Janet's finest eras or masterpieces. Her creativity is mind blowing and it's a damn shame America didn't get to witness or enjoy the talent it's been bless with, once again, because of it's backwards/puritan mentality. How many time has this society slept on fine artistry because the artist in question dared push the envelop and/or had a different opinion?

***** Mmm hmm, and that's not bad at all considering that she was dealing with her label on that BullShyt at the time tryna act like they can't promote the album as fully as they did her previous in the wake of so-called "Nipplegate".
They actually did have to cut it they cut it 3 times Janet said they weren't gonna do any cuts but they ended up having to. If u don't believe me watch access granted and you'll see.
She was a part of it yes along with Madonna. Still Janet was mostly known for her dancing and as the one that was going to give the best dance performance of her time. She kind of paved the way for a lot of the artist of today and the gen before. Now what people sleep on Janet about is she had some of the best slow jams.
Bruh.the Jackson siblings are inspirational to majority of dancers in the industry lol most famous artists as well like Neyo ,Beyonce', Nami amuro, BOA . yes both j pop and k pop
Totally agreed that both Janet and MJ inspired so many generations both locally and internationally. I love Janet's videos and slow jams... that's the way love goes and if are still ageless (actually there's a long long list of her slow jams but let's start with 2 XD)
This is by far the most flawless video she has ever done. It's incredible and so easy to take for granted because they made it look so easy. The work that went into this... its a shame it only has 4 million views to date.
Gil definitely did his thing on this choreography.. and the fact that Brian Friedman was in this. Just makes this all so perfect.. Janet was absolutely flawless in this video ❤❤❤❤❤
What makes Janet so unique is her ear and love for all kinds of music...from Joni Mitchell to Brazilian Jazz and that she knows and can spot a reference because she is so well versed in subcultures. She wanted this to pay homage to the club kids and drag queens of the 80s. Ugh! I can't wait for her to tell her story...it will change everything. This woman attended Studio 54 as a child and thought people were putting flour up their noses. Whew!
This gorgeous woman has a style of music that's in a class by itself..no woman has came close to matching her style.. even Brittany Spears can't match her soft tone voice...
This is so *I C O N I C* I can't. Such a banger. One of Janet's greats and it's literally like this amazing little secret among the fanbase since the single release went completely unnoticed.
"Damita Jo" might be Janet Jackson's last masterpiece but "Discipline" is a ok album. It's not like her previous albums but it still holds up today with the techno and electro pop sound which many artists today doing so the Discipline album is ahead of it's time. Let's not forget it also brought Janet Jackson back into the touring world her first tour in 7 years and her most successful US hit single in 7 years as well not bad at all.
It was okay. To me 20 Y.O. was still much better because it actually still somehow felt like a Janet album, whereas with Discipline, while there were more potential hits, Janet's lack of input was very apparent. It was soulless and felt like a Janet imitation, especially without any production from Jimmy and Terry. It sounded more like Ciara than a Janet record.
This song should have been a smash hit. I will stay forever mad at the way this song flopped, because it should have been blowing up charts worldwide. And can we please have a moment for how on point the choreography is on the chorus and how Janet was making that shit look easy? THANKS.
HAhaha. Thats real talk. I thought this shit should've been a smash too. Flew right under the radar. This shit remind me off 99 when I clubbed a lot and popped E. The real E...not that molly bullshit. Anyways....I still love u Janet. U always been my girlfriend. U just never knew it.
I can't even overstate how much I agree with you! This song should have been a huge hit. That decidedly "French-vogue", Mod-style production, the breathy vocals, and the amazing choreography and camera work. Brilliant!
You are 100% right! liked a few JJ singles, never bought an album, but how this song didn't put her back to #1 all over the world is beyond me!??? It made me buy the album. I was looking forward to the remixes but we didn't get any?

***** Mmm hmm, and that's not bad at all considering that she was dealing with her label on that BullShyt at the time tryna act like they can't promote the album as fully as they did her previous in the wake of so-called "Nipplegate".
DANZCRYSTAL I think your prayer is just about to get answered. :D As is all of ours.
They actually did have to cut it they cut it 3 times Janet said they weren't gonna do any cuts but they ended up having to. If u don't believe me watch access granted and you'll see.
Somehow after watching Janet, felt like she and Michael both inspired birth of K-Pop Idols; especially the currently more dance synchronised ones.
Th creator of KPOP said he was inspired by MJ for KPOP .
@@reinemazidath5466 You mean JYP!
Totally agreed that both Janet and MJ inspired so many generations both locally and internationally. I love Janet's videos and slow jams... that's the way love goes and if are still ageless (actually there's a long long list of her slow jams but let's start with 2 XD)
Still jamming to this in 2024!! This song was so underrated and I don’t understand why!!
Janet Jackson School of Dance.
Mr. Brown Janet was female version of Michael Jackson there's not one woman that out dance this girl everything she is is what Michael was
@@shawnknockum4600 The whole family is.
By the way, she is also one of the “zombie” dancer in “Thriller” (MJ Thriller) music video too!
@@ethanang3527
I didn't know that. Interesting fact.
Surprise Janet havent opened a dance school or something.
one of the greatest music videos of all time. no idea how it went unnoticed.
This choreography is dope as fuck!!
Whew!
My first thought when I heard this was that it sounds so 80s! I didn't know it was an homage to 80s club culture. Now I get it!
She's so versaitile she try different things and make it work so gratefully.
who’s here in 2024?
yes, and things are good, she is a legend and its still a great artist, forever, unconditionally
This is a vibe ❤
I’m Here
2024 we are rocking
I definitely am!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
JANET JACKSON IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSICAL ARTISTS OF ALL TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She ate in this video 🔥🔥🔥
The Choreography is out of this world. Looks alien to me
She deserves a modern tribute, not just a dance tribute but a tribute to her longevity. I hope Beyonce, Britney and Ciara pay tribute to her.
DPRD JZ who is Ciara? sure you meant Queen Rihanna.
DPRD JZ
Brit who
DPRD JZ Alyson Stoner made a small tribute in her RUclips channel you should check it out.
Beyonce can stay the hell out!
Another song of hers that should’ve been a big hit. It was ahead of its time
This gorgeous woman has a style of music that's in a class by itself..no woman has came close to matching her style.. even Brittany Spears can't match her soft tone voice...
I constantly replay 1:05-1:36. This choreography is just unreal!
me too 😄
now seeing this..for real!
I thought it was just me I’m dying to learn this choreography
Took me hours to figure this out when I recorded this on VHS. Lmao
I learnt it, it's just so amazing.....infact, I learnt the whole choreo, Janet rocks my world like no other
Who still listening in 2019??? 🙋🏽♂️
I love so much this song and video!
Yasssssss ❤
Meeeeeeeeeeee3eeeeeee
🙋🏿♂️
Tyler Perry's 'The Family that Preys' brought me here 🤣🤣🤣
GOD, Janet's choreography and dancing are always original and mesmerizing perfection. She can do anything and do it better than any one else. The OG!
Track was ahead of its time. This would’ve fit right in with 2020s hits
This is so *I C O N I C* I can't. Such a banger. One of Janet's greats and it's literally like this amazing little secret among the fanbase since the single release went completely unnoticed.
That runway stomp at 2:58 gives me life. I wanna walk like that down Madison Avenue.
Yesss. Her walk is life anyways
Jaddy Dempsey ALWAYS! ;-)
The world slept on this one 🔥
they sure did this track is hot and the video janet tore it up
Janet has so many bops in her catalogue. Her music is simply timeless. A legendary Queen. 👑😍
I love the sexiness in her voice at 1:52 as she says "do you see me?" referring to their shadows dancing on the wall.
Uh what about Unbreakable? That album was incredible
Velvet rope was when she was on top of the world her best album to date. Nothing can compare
@@donjoevillacorta2790 AFY.
Facts.
Queen of Pop put her foot into this jam. That was fire
This is her most underrated song.
I love the choreo. There needs to be more music videos that's this dance heavy.
right this is it for her
SolOtis s
Galen hooks is queen
SolOtis she has her whole 40 year career. mixing up is good at this stage of the game. she's the best, right?!
I believe Tinashe can bring that. She just needs a bit more time till she finds her spot light to execute such a caliber as this
This song should have been a smash hit. I will stay forever mad at the way this song flopped, because it should have been blowing up charts worldwide.
And can we please have a moment for how on point the choreography is on the chorus and how Janet was making that shit look easy? THANKS.
Yes, J, yes! This should've been the almighty hit in Discipline! :(
HAhaha. Thats real talk. I thought this shit should've been a smash too. Flew right under the radar. This shit remind me off 99 when I clubbed a lot and popped E. The real E...not that molly bullshit. Anyways....I still love u Janet. U always been my girlfriend. U just never knew it.
i agree with everything you said, sick beat and choreography!
This song is so underrated. Janet has always been ahead of her time.
I’m here in 2024 at 42 years old. And this song makes me miss my rave, foam party club days back in the early 2000’s.
