There's still something unsettling about seeing the invincible hero Big Boss crashing on a hospital bed and having to be recusitated, makes him feel very real
And not to mention that Kojima literally gave away the game’s twist ending in this reveal trailer too. It’s a total troll move on his part, but it’s very much in keeping with his signature style.
Coming back to this trailer you can really see the reveal being left open. And I love it. As a huge fan I was just so intrigued in a new metal gear title and didn’t even think about any plot twists at all. Kojima makes utter masterpieces
I may be totally wrong but I have a theory to why David Hayter is not voicing Snake/Big Boss in MGSV. I believe that this isn't Snake/Big Boss but actually a rejected clone which explains the horn on his head at the end. plus to support this think about the first scene in the hospital, Snake and Kaz were being seen through someone else's eyes which is proven when Kaz says "What about him?" Also this could explain the meaning of "V has come to." V being the clone and "come to" meaning awakened.
this is minor, but I still wonder why Big Boss's ear, in the character model has a differently shaped ear at 2:57 than his character model after the hospital. Just curious if anybody has noticed that, or maybe it's the camera angle. It happens to look a lot like the mgs 4 character model ear for Solid. Ofcourse I'm in no way implying some theory that that is solid lol cuz that's just imposible, but maybe that scene was made during earlier stages of the game where they hadn't absolutely finalized Big Boss' design. on the other hand, Ocelot and Kaz look identical to what we've seen. Sorry if this all sounds really stupid, many apologies. Just an observation.
you can't lie some of cutscenes are of the best ever seen in a video game such as the hellbound misson, just very very polished. yes if Kojima had more time he could've completed or at least added more options in gameplay but the game we got was satisfying
This was such a memorable trailer especially if you had been following the “fake” Phantom Pain ARG game around the time and realized halfway through the trailer that it was indeed MGSV and then the logo finally completed itself after so much speculation.
One thing i like about this franchise is that its very thought provoking in terms of its theme by mixing real conspiricies (nano-machines,shadow government) with fantasy not to mention its brilliant story telling. Big boss is depicted as the embodiment of revolution.
im a bit sad Konami cut chapter 3. they kept the endings but put them at the end of chapter 3 which made it felt a bit rushed... if they didn't cut chapter 3 the story would probably run a bit smoother and made the ending feel, well, less rushed. I still give it a 10/10!
Pretty ballsy move to have the first trailer for the game to start and end with scenes from the FINAL MISSION that showed that the real Big Boss didn't have shrapnel in his head. But it worked and nobody caught on.
***** Lou Bloom is actually right. It's the piece of shrapnel that put BB into his coma, but its a symbol of a horn. It begins to fall out of his head as the game goes on.
Man, I remember how hyped I was after seeing this trailer, It seemed like this was going to be the best game ever made, like MGS V was on top of the world. The finished game its still great, but the ton of cut content does makes me sad for what could've been
No, that's Outer Heaven, Mother Base was different. B.B. may have called M.B. Outer Heaven, but that name was symbolic of his dream back then, whereas Outer Heaven was literally named Outer Heaven. M.B was based in the Caribbean sea... I think Outer Heaven was in Galzberg, South Africa... But, to be honest, the name is symbolic in all cases, From Mother Base, to Outer Heaven, to Zanzibarland.
Ya know after thinking about it for 3 years I think this game has really grown on me, initially I absolutely loved it then that twist... I was very upset about it, this whole time I was thinking I was The Big Boss this legendary warrior and then it’s all shattered, it felt like losing something. Kinda like the “Phantom Pain”, after the twist I lost all interest in the game, I thought “Venom Snake” was a very dull and quiet character. The pain is realizing we aren’t who we think we are.
10 years on and still arguably the best marketing a video game has and probably ever will receive. A shame Kojima couldn’t finish it all. But the game we have today is still a absolute joy to play.
If anyone wants to know the MG series in chronological order then here it is: MGS3 Snake Eater 1963, MGS Portable Ops 1970, MGS Peace Walker 1974, MGS5 Phantom Pain 1983 (A guess) , Metal Gear 1995, Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake 1999, MGS 2005, MGS2 Sons of Liberty 2007-2009, MGS4 Guns of the Patriots 2014, MGR 2018
B1GGYPAPA00 possibly, but we've been lead to think that the beginning of the game would be Snake being unconscious. i dont know if this is something that was pulled out from Ground Zeroes, or if something else happened.
metalupyourazz1 It's probably just something they cut or wound up changing. My guess is that originally, when they left the base after everything was blown up, Big Boss was a little bloodied and cut up and that was just the shot of them pulling out to the ocean, but Kojima changed it for some reason or another. A lot of things that are in Metal Gear trailers wind up not being in the final game (the first thing that comes to mind is Snake sticking the gun in his mouth indoors for MGS4). But who knows? Could be something else.
From two phantoms were born me thinks this means solid and liquid snake. The stuff about the vanished could mean that while big boss is in the coma he has to fight against some of the bosses from the previous games. Ground zeros could be the start and the end

This is Big Boss in the years 1974 to 1983 onwards. This is a sequal to mgs peace walker and a prequal to mg. Liquid and Soild Snake were born in 1972.
Peace Walker... Set in 1974. From the looks of it this game starts out right after PW. Then Snake Ends up in a Coma for 9 years. Hello 1983! There is still a gap of 22 Years between this one and MGS1.
I'm pretty sure it is and the guy next to Snake in the hospital bed is Miller before Liquid got to him. However, because of that fake hand I'm thinking that we may be playing Solidus at some point since big boss replaced his missing limbs w/ his since he was a perfect clone.
What if the reason they use Roman Numeral 5 for the title is because it stands for the 5th snake. I being Big Boss, II and III being Solid and Liquid, IV being Solidus, and V being the new snake. This could also explain why David Hayter is not playing the snake we see in The Phantom Pain gameplay trailer. V has come to means the 5th snake has woken. Bringing up my previous catch @ 3:10 why would Ocelot need to tell Big Boss who he is?
guy said he isn't doing Long Cutscenes but then again I've never saw anything wrong with his games. I love everyone of the entries. Still one to there own. It is open world.
which would explain why miller asks "what about him" and the first person camera in the beginning . Thinking about that it makes sense . Kojima at GDC said snake not big boss , but who would the new snake be ?
Dontae u might be right, its a good theory. If we can figure out where this game takes place, we can have an idea on what will happen in this game. Is this in Zanzibar? Where Solid Snake fought on a mine field against his old time friend Frank Jaeger aka Gray Fox? Is this Outer Heaven? Where Big Boss was defeated by Solid Snake in a barehanded combat?
I'm pretty sure in the 1st two years of the wii release, it sold more units than the PS3 and 360 combined. From 2009 onwards, it still sold more than each of them separately.
@MSNDBZ24 Sorry to burst your bubble but its not going to be David Hayter voicing snake in MGS V. It's actually the person whom did Big Boss's voice in MGS 4
