    I love the fact that you saved a perfectly good piece of equipment seems to work perfectly well. In addition you don't have to worry about a sensor or expensive DPF system de-rating your equipment in the middle of a work session. It seems like we honestly have gone backwards on on AG equipment.

      Agreed! It may not have a air ride seat or a/c on the floor, but if a guy needed a 200 Hp tractor for under 10k this fits the bill!

    I still can't believe there isn't a major industry in renewing and modernizing old farm equipment. I would think a Steiger Bearcat with GPS guidance system would be more desirable than something new that you have to feed DEF and that you'll never be able to repair.

    Up here in central Michigan, Osceola County, my grandpa use to farm with a 1468 international, had the V8 diesel in it… can’t beat the sound of those old girls working away! Love the content brother, keep it up! 👍

    Should put a new cab kit in it from fehr cab. You can still get floor mats for these too, and probably shift boots. Will make it a lot quieter and comfortable in the cab. Bonus if you fix the ac so you can run with the doors closed. This sounds real loud

    I have been watching your postings since you bought the Old Steiger and brought it home. You sure got a winner for sure
    and it should last you for many years the way you take care of your equipment. Rain is good many farms are not getting rain.

    In the video, it didn't sound like that plow made much of an impression on that big green bear. It dropped a few RPMS, but it didn't sound like it was working all that hard at all.

    Loved it JT! Only thing that could have made it better, would have been Dave Dudley singing in the back ground "Six Days on the Road" with some thick black "Freedom" coming out of the stacks........... Now all ya need is a stereo............. you know, so y'all can sing along...... Oh and clean windows, cuz, ya know, we couldn't barely see the plow.

      @@jtsbarnngrill6873 it gets better. Some guys from Steiger’s experimental department have authenticated it! Guys who actually built it themselves. It was supposed to have been cut up a long, long time ago. It appears as though they didn’t think it was still around

      ​​@@nellsonstout7001a question for you: did the guys at the factory ever actually complete the construction of the second tractor? The second tractor I have appears at first to have been cannibalized for parts....but looking more closely, portions of it appear to have never been actually completed. I know somebody who might know the answer....but would be interested also in what you might find out.

    Through the whole video I felt bad for Turd Ferguson sitting there on the back burner. I kept saying to myself you should have a shootout between Turd Furguson and Green Bastard!!     nice and slow just like i do in my 145 versatile. these kids that farm nowadays should be forced to drive something like that just to appreciate what they have and to hold a dam steering wheel in their hands, Good job JT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Try some Spray way glass cleaner. Has to be the best glass cleaner I have ever used! In a blue aerosol can. Ammonia free!

    Hard to believe that was a big tractor in its day. Now loader tractors have as much hp. Nut you got some good cheap dependable hp there

    Looks like a fun time with shrek there. Send that rain to Lavernia Texas when you get done with it. It’s plus 100 degrees here for the past month and .5 inches of rain for the past 4 months!! We are hot and thirsty here!!

      As for this one, chisel plowing wheat stubble is a great way to bury some trash and loosen the ground for next spring

    I have the same tractor JT.....but without the Cat. Mine has a Deutz V8 air-cooled diesel, F8L413. On my repair list as the engine has been locked up since I got it.

      @@nellsonstout7001 never heard much good about the 3208 either. I have one in my MF 1805, same as JTs. Runs fast but I keep at 2500 rpm or less and don't over load it. The Bearcat I have, maybe a year or two newer than JTs has the Duetz V8. I live near the Steiger factory so I think it's one of those trial by error tractors. It came from a local farm and I never saw it run in the field but my cousin remembers seeing it work...but that was back in the late 70s. Tractor has been sitting for possibly 40 years so the engine is locked up.

      I actually sold that tractor a couple months ago. But it is 636 CI, and the turbo versions of the 3208 can bump the power considerably!

    I have driven lots of makes of farm tractors, but never operated one with a V8 diesel under its hood. I need to enquire about engines rpm, 2800 to 3000rpm, modern diesels can pull hard down to 1600rpm, Tractors in 70's to 80's pushing 200hp in the UK 1800 to 2000rpm was all rpm we needed. Would your green thing pull at 2000rpm?

      Well, lighter loads I’m sure it would do fine, but these cats need at least 2500 before they start coming to life. An inline 6 will make great power at lower rpm’s but they have a longer stroke=more low end torque.

      I’d say anywhere from 180-225. Hard to say where the pump was set on that cat. But she seems to have plenty of juice!

    JT...the Bearcat sounds and performs awesome! Great video as always!
    Does that have an Eaton 10 spd (5 high/5 low) in it? I think thats what our 4366 has and we pull a 14 shank in 4th low.
    We pull a 16' wide 15 shank chisel plow with our MF 1805 at 6 mph...(3rd low overdrive).

    i was wondering, after watching what you did to it and your time/effort, and expenses on parts etc, was it worth it financially to bring it back to life both short and long term. i am not asking for numbers, i am asking for your opinion. i mean from a farming stand point not "content". content wise in my opinion it definitely was.

      Sure it was. For one,I enjoy the work, just like a hot rod guy enjoys his cars. I have less into that tractor all said and done than a new cub cadet 0 turn costs, and it brings me fun content to share with anyone. The feeling of accomplishment after finishing one of these big projects and being able to use it is priceless.
      And I suppose if I were to sell it for whatever reason I’d make a few bucks on it.
      So, yes. For me it’s well worth it 😉
