      Omg every student is still going to be paying off their initial student loan! The government added indexation of 7% last year ontop of every student debt. This adjustment means students will only pay 3%. The government is still earning tax from Australian students, just not as much as before.

      Australian universities already depend on the foreign students paying upfront to attend in order to remain viable. Every one of them takes the place of a possible Australian placement. 713,144 international students in Australia this year, worth close to $6 billion to Australia universities. And over 5x that amount in revenue to the Australian economy. Making education our 4th highest export earner in total. And that is down on pre covid numbers! 😮💰

    Caping indexation at WPI short changes the tertiary sector and may fuel job losses. Unless Albos got another revenue stream for universities they may be forced to increase the overall costs of degrees which will further aggravate the 12 year current low in domestic enrolments at Australian Universities. Again these band aid solutions won’t cut it. The only way to address inflation is reducing excess demand which at this point comes from migration and the gas cartel.

    • @benchinny-ev3xe
      @benchinny-ev3xe 18 дней назад

      Lol what? Hecs debt is owed to the government, not universities. The unis already got paid in full for the degree, it's the government that is not going to be making as much in interest

    • @Aryanwood
      @Aryanwood 18 дней назад

      @@benchinny-ev3xe how much you payback is how much gets paid to the universities by the government. The government isn’t going to subsidise the difference between the cpi and wpi. That’s not debt that the federal government wants on their books. The reductions will be passed on one way or another and the Uni incomes will take the hit meaning they will need to raise the price paid for courses which will raise the overall cost for the degree from the outset. This will in turn make universities less accessible to domestic students.

    This is once more adding to inflation Albo. Not your money to give. Trades are suffering while the universities make the money, for few jobs on exit and still can’t manage without indoctrination money tied to middle east donations. The antisemitic problem here manufactured from the University Faculty is in what they teach and the PM/PWong duo is a product of that.

    They need to get rid of tuition fees altogether like in the Nordic countries. Students there just pay admin fees. Tax rates may be higher but they still outrank Australia in the IHDI and Happiness Index.

      In 2024 Australia has over 700,000 international students paying $6b in upfront fees to attend universities here. Still not enough money? Albeit, those numbers are down on pre covid years. Still, education is Australia's 4th highest export earner.
