  • A tour of the Completed Expansion works of the Kampala Northern Bypass highway to dual carriageway for it's entire length. The northern bypass forms a semi circle as it winds through the northern suburbs of Kampala city, Uganda's capital and largest city. These suburbs are Naalya, Kiwatule, Kulambiro, Kigoowa, Bukoto, Mulago, Makerere, Bwaise, Kawaala, Namugongo and ends at Busega where it links to the Entebbe Expressway also known as the Kampala Southern Bypass Road.
    The 22 Kilometers Kampala Northern Bypass Road was constructed between 2004 and 2009 and opened to Traffic on the 1st of October 2009 with an objective of relieving traffic congestion within Kampala City center allowing cross country traffic to bypass the Kampala city's downtown area.
    The expansion works of the Kampala Northern Bypass Road launched on the 23rd of February 2015 where the Uganda National Roads Authority awarded the construction contract to Mota - Engil Engenharia E - Construcao SA a subsidiary of the Mota Conglomerate based in Portugal and six interchanges replaced the roundabouts at Sentema Rd, Hoima Rd, Gayaza Rd, Bukoto Kyebando, Ntinda Kisaasi and Naalya with funding from the European Investment Bank, The European Union and the Uganda government

    I have been driving on Northern Bypass since 2014. I must say the latest interchanges have made traffic flow much better. To make the road network more efficient within Kampala Metropolitan, even the feeder roads should be directly under UNRA. Division leaders simply steal the funds meant to construct these link roads.

      From kajjansi to munyonyo is southern by pass but to make Jinja express highway the bypass will be continued from munyonyo to byeyogerere via mutungo

    If they still allow vendors to sell their stuff on the side of the highway and bodabodas to park anywhere, that highway will get dirty in no time.

      @@ugconnect . 10:44 to 10:48 and 13:21 to 13:23. And 22: 26 that market is literally taking a section of the road.

    • @ugconnect
      @ugconnect  2 года назад

      Ooh yeah, thanks for perfectly observing this. We used not to have them on the highway but I think it's because they were banned from the city center.
      And about the market, it has been there for quite a long time and the authorities should think about relocating it
