Heyy man, amazing reactions from you every time you do some Eminem. You should keep going on Relapse with the Refill version, it’s like a deluxe version
Ironically he won a Grammy for this album yet he says he cringes when he listens to it lol also he had a Number 1 hit w/ “Crack A Bottle” which is so odd this album to me even tho it got shitted on when it was released, it still was something ominous about it and simply focused and a great concept it’s surely a cult classic and to me this album saw the last of Dr. Dre having a huge hand in the production but tbh this album was the first and last time Dr. Dre had the first and last say on the beats and yet it was the best decision Em ever made cause coming back after his hiatus from 2007-2009 he could just lock in on the rhymes while Dre works on the beats/production. I’ll reckon this album has some of Dr. Dre’s most versatile beats he’s ever done! This album released when I was 9 years old so it definitely holds a special place in my heart and I always found myself when listening to “Same Song & Dance” and “Beautiful” it time travels me back to the time when I first was immersing myself into this album.🐐🎯💯
YOOOOOOOO ngl this is a hot take, but this is my FAVORITE eminem album, you definitely need to react to refill as well, its a lot shorter but its just as good and includes some of his best songs ever
His best album for me 10/10 Vivid storytelling.. greatest rhyme-schemes ive heard.. insane metaphors and similes.. mind-blowing punchlines and classic hooks and beats all around.. one of the greatest pieces of art anyone has ever dropped..!!!!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
What a good album. I really tried to not like this when it came out but, I just couldn't his wordplay was on another level from Encore and I had to respect it. The beats all dope.
I really hate people complained about this album when it dropped. We never got Relapse 2. Yea the voices might have been annoying but if you're like me you go to Eminem for the lyrics and wordplay. You can't tell me he wasn't spitting on this album. Detroit stand up
I f**king love this album. Problem is at the time people weren’t ready for horror core rap but he’s just story telling like a horror film which, by the way, no one thinks twice about watching and loving but they give Em sh!t about horror film in rap form. The rhyming, cadence and flow on this album is unmatched
I hope Eminem gives this album a thumbs up cause he's always talking shit about it. Recently on Shady vs Marshall interview he gave a little love but I couldn't rely on it cause Rapgod has ways of dark humor.
This is eminems best album ever , I’ve listened to everyone growing up and this is my favourite! He’s the best to ever do it and best that ever will 👑🎤 💯
OOOOHHHHH HELL YEAAAAH!!!! I been waitin on this one man. that opening is gonna be this whole album... mostly. possibly the wildest shit he's ever said and thats after 4 albums of insanity. therapy can really open some new avenues of crazy lol. imma enjoy this one!🤘🤘🤘(btw you should absolutely do The Eminem Show and possibly Encore. Em Show is a must tho, might be his best album.) Edit: RIP Debbie Mathers but also, screw you Debbie.
You can't go wrong with Eminem. Have you heard of THE ALKAHOLIKS. 3 man group from L.A. Tash, J-Ro and E-Swift who's also the Dj. Their 1st album is from 1993 and called "21 and over". They are so underrated. Would love to hear this album on your channel🔥
First time listening to this. Cant wait until you do the Cam’Ron Come Home With Me album Beanie Sigel - The Reason and The B. Coming State Property Soundtrack Vol 1 State Property Chain Gang Vol 2 Dame Dash Presents The Dream Team hosted by DJ Clue
The intro is homage to SSEP's intro 😎 you should def react to that at some point! The original Just Don't Give a F beat should have been the only version. Glad you're doing Relapse tho! First CD i ever bought when I was a freshman in HS. Salute King 🫡
Your reaction to Deja Vu got my upvote. Such an underrated song. One of the best he's ever made imo, between the wordplay, depth, production, overall vibe, etc. Such a vivid look into the experience of an addict.
hes not really rapping like that on this album because of the overdose, but Eminem just happened to get into this accent type of rap in 2009. he went through this phase where he used accents in his raps, which is the entirety of relapse, and a little bit of it is also in Recovery, a year after Relapse, just using accents to rap and rhyme words that wouldn't normally rhyme.
the fact that these are some of the first songs he wrote after getting sober just goes to show how batshit insane this dude is. imagine thinking you stand a chance against someone who thinks of these types of things when he ISN'T under the influence lmao
All top tier artists, whether it’s painting, writing, drawing, singing or rapping are geniuses and a lot of geniuses are crazy. The saying “there’s a fine line between genius and crazy” applies here
Also, Hell Breaks Loose is off the deluxe version w Dr Dre being a feature actually rapping and they go CRAZY, would recommend listening even if you don't react
You should check out "My Darling" and "Careful what you wish for" which he should have opened this album with (they were unreleased until the "Relapse - Refill" edition came out. Glad to see you appreciate "Deja Vu", always thought that was a standout song on this album.
Played this album hundreds of times. I get mad when people shit on it and even Em himself! Relapse: Refill has 6 bonus tracks from those studio sessions.
Depends what you're looking for. It's more like horrorcore. And he messed around with accents ect. Buy hid rhyme schemes and patterns are unbelievable. Dude was relearning to rap. After his od. Doesn't disappoint 😂
Big reason you hear a lot of horror core type bars is cause he was fucked up watching horror films and a lot of serial killer type stuff while making this album that's why for example Bagpipes from Baghdad has a crazy amount of references. Pretty dope
I’m listening on the highest speed . While I cut up some sweet potatoes to make sweet potato fries for my son (14) . It sounds even crazier on the highest speed 😀😂 11:27
Fact - Eminem had an overdose because his best friend proof from D12 got shot and killed in 2006 so he was going through a very hard time so when you hear him say Deshawn that's Proofs real name please check out D12 Proof one of them ones better than the other members besides Eminem they're Freestyles together are Legendary too
My problem with a lot of these songs isn’t necessarily the subject matter (with the exception of Insane), it’s the way it was executed. A lot of these song topics aren’t necessarily new for Eminem, but he was more clever on his older albums and the humor fell flat on a lot of these songs, which is my problem with a lot of his music over the last 20 years. This time, it sounded forced and corny. It was shock value for the sake of shock value and it seemed like he was just running out of ideas, but had to record something. There were some cool moments and a few songs I liked, but overall, I don’t think a lot of these songs have replay value.
He was clean here. Yes his mom and ex were are drug addicts. But he was not and didn’t touch that crap. Only tell 2002. Doing the movie 8 mile and also doing the album the Eminem show. And he produced most oat of that. He could t sleep and they gave him Ambiem. And he slowly as it went to Valium and Vicodin. And by encore all tour. He had to end it early and try rehab. And sadly less then a year later his BF Proof passed away in 2006. And then he got really bad and by the end of 2007 he overdosed and he has been clean from pills ever since over 16 years now. This album was his first full album after all that. And the funny part. Is he even knows it. He started doing funny voices. Many loved it. He has even said he doesn’t like this album. But he also said if he didn’t do this there wouldn’t have been recovery after this etc etc. It’s the accent album somewhat. But as you said this came out about a year and a half after he became clean. So this is like therapy for him.
@ 21:50 idk where buddy got that story of Em needing to learn how to rap again from 😂The weird accent was just Em experimenting with his voice and alot of peoole just weren't feeling it. He even talks about this on the next album , Recovery.
@SolidSnake240 nah Em has told that story a few times. I agree though, this was experimentation. Learning to rap was more the king mathers era of unreleased tracks.
So he was not on drugs. But I see what you are saying. But the voices. He has spoken of that. And he wasn’t doing that. Like to act like on drugs. As we all know he has been clean since he overdosed very end of 2007. Like he just said never had an issue with alcohol. Or hard. Ore drugs. Always prescription pills. And yes proof messed him up bad. And lucky and sad it took a year and a half after his passing to overdose. But that is what made him get off the pills. I really like this album as do many fans. He says the same about the voices. Like wtf what was I doing. Yes Deshan is proofs name. He has his name tattooed the same as proof did. On his arm. The good part is his daughter never knew what was going on. Until as an adult. He kept it all away from her. Respect. Amazing Dad. She had no idea he was struggling so hard. Yes Alaina did find him. That is his oldest he adopted. His niece. Sad she has no parents either. But he stepped up They are all very close. People. Do stupid videos like were are the other two. Well Hailie was with him for day one and his only bio daughter. But he is such a good man he adopted her cousin the oldest. And always his exa daughter for. Another man. And they are all very close. Just all at his concert with there spouses this year in Austin Texas. But this album. He was never on drugs. I hear what you’re saying. But not on this album. He was not on anything. Clean since overdose end of 2007. This is about a year and a half after being clean. So I am sure he wrote a lot while getting back in shape He runs everyday. He has always been a work out type. And has a healthy life style. It’s a story. But he was clean. But he can tell a story better than anyone I know. Yes Em writes for a lot of people. He just doesn’t brag or talk about it. You would be surprised how many songs he has ghost writes. You should hear. As they wanted him to be the lead actor in Southpaw. He did two songs for it. And his song for the movie Vernon. Great song. He does a lot for movies. And produces a lot. Story though he wasn’t on Drugs first half. Always had been off pills for a year and a half.
could you react to: Public Enemy- Shut Em Down (Pete Rock Remix) InI ft. Pete Rock - Fakin' Jax Mad Kap - Proof is in the Pudding Mystidious Misfitss - Upside Down (Word Is Born) (Lord Digga Remix)
He likes Superman. He has a massive comic book collection. He has never disliked him. It’s Superman. And he gets hurt on a horse. And sadly the actor did pass. But again it’s Superman in the songs. Like how could a horse hurt Superman. Think of it like that. He has never not liked Superman. Chris Reeve was Superman.
And after this came "Recovery" which I consider a classic. Em said himself the accents went too far on this album. The wordplay and lyricism is crazy on this album tho.
HOLY SHI-, Christmas came early.. I've been hoping for you to react to this for like a year or two. I can finally stop bugging you about it every other day 😅 Thanks so much! The track Buffalo Bill from the expanded release might also be worth a one off some day. But for now I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this reaction!
Fun fact: the first verse of Beautiful was written before he went to rehab and the rest of the song was written when he got home. Perfectly fits after Deja Vu
It's widely known that this is the project Eminem likes the least. Like is too nice. He dislikes this project. I get why though. While the flow, lyricism, and all that is amazing, the concept including the stuff he talks about is a bit much. While it has a following, it's not an album I wanna listen to several times.
