Poor muffy
Great job as always. Also, same to you.

Great Job on the Video. Keep up with the amazing videos of the FU Series of hated cartoon characters.
I hated this episode mainly because of Sue Ellen who became a leftist activist in the later seasons. It is annoying when women do that because they are too similar to Lisa Simpsons of the world having to virtue signal and force it onto others. This is more like F u Sue Ellen, F Francine and F Muffy. And FYI growing up schools never made students celebrate "cinco De Mayo", other than for liberal women to virtue signal.

I do find it weird Sue Ellen doesn't call out how accidentally eating something cooked in meat is very different than choosing to eat meat. Also how damaging it is to try and force/trick a vegetarian/vegan into eating meat is to their system. but it is a show for kids so makes sense why they would not have gone deeply into it.
If you cook something in meat, you better make that clear. Especially if it could violate someone’s medical/religious restrictions
After years of going without it, forcing it into someone's system can lead to a nasty morning on a toilet....
Isn’t there a difference between vegetarians vs Vegans?
@the-nina-beans88 The main difference is that Vegetatians eat no meat, and Vegans swear off of all animal products like milk and eggs.
I don't think she knows that. This is the girl that doesn't believe in math.
The way Muffy and Sue Ellen gasped at the mustard Pickle. It’s like they saw DW dragging satan to hell.

5:17-5:19 DUCK FAT!? I don't remember what episode it's from, but I distinctly remember a scene of Arthur and D.W. standing in the rain at Grandma Thora's door before Thora tells her to come inside because "This is only good weather for ducks" as we then see a sapient, talking duck on a bicycle who says something like "Beautiful weather, huh?" with seemingly no regard for the rain whatsoever. So apparently there's just the silent implication that Ladonna and her family killed a person to make Brussels sprouts.
EDIT: It's from Season 1, episode 20a "Arthur's Almost Boring Day".
IDK, My headcanon is that the difference between the Sapient and Non-Sapient animals is like the difference between humans and baboons.
@@rimfire8217 We can only hope. I guess that would explain things like Binky, Fern and Pal all being dogs.
The duck people and the alligator people always seemed to be treated as second-class citizens.
IIRC, they were employed as moving men and garbage collectors and such
It's established many times in the show that anthropomorphic and non-anthropomorphic animals exist simotaneously in the Arthur universe. In Elwood City Turns 100, Francine is late for the school musical because her dad/the guy they hitch a ride with have to slam on the breaks for ducks.
@@BlackOrderAlchemist I think MatPat made a Film Theory about that, right? I'm pretty sure non mammalian sapient animal people disappeared after season 1.

Muffy’s the reason Wal*Mart has that in store policy that employees can’t accept gifts from customers. I learned about that policy the hard way. But hey, more donuts for me and that wasn’t my first time getting rejected by an Allison.

Asking a chicken restaurant if they have vegetarian food is like asking a Mexican restaurant if they have Russian food
She didn’t even care about how long that food took to make-
I'll always be amazed at how upper middle class the schools in Elwood City must be to have the most inexplicably high quality school lunches imaginable and to have the one cook instead of an exploitive Food Service company. Also, Muffy shouting about how Buster doesn't bring pizza has major Skeletor chewing out his minions for not killing He-man energy.
The fact that the cashier doesn’t even say anything to Muffy and Sue Ellen when she makes the pickle and mustard in the next scene is savage
As someone who used to work in fast food, it's very cathartic
She already sounded so done when she corrected Sue Ellen, "Technically, it's poltry by-products with real chicken flavoring." Then she silently prepared and gave the vegatarian food, and I could hear her internally screaming "So many years of college and student debt for this!"
Finally, the Very 1ST Episode of FU Muffy - The spin-off video series to the esteemed famous FU D.W. series Curtesy of Mat Neff!
When I went to school they had to give us "healthy" options like fruits & vegetables. Ketchup was considered a vegetable 🤦
Wow. That is very stupid.
Pizza was considered fruit
If I remember correctly it was political interference that led to that, mainly a loosening of regulations in the 80s to give schools more “flexibility” on what could be deemed healthy to fit the bill of “vegetables” to feed kids. It certainly wasn’t made to give kids good food but to penny pinch, and it certainly made no sense from a nutritional perspective. Pickle relish was considered a vegetable under these new definitions.
I thought Bread came from Wheat which is a plant, so Bread would be a plant based product, or a vegetable. 🤔
I remember we had green beans and carrots and garden burgers as vegetables.
The definition of “sue Ellen” is a respectable person to animals
Makes sense, given that she's probably the most consistently-decent character in the show.
@@JerkyD Ehh, I kinda disagree on that.
@@Doughboy123x Maybe I haven't watched enough of the later eps, but AFAIK, the only other character who comes close is Arthur (the sweater ep notwithstanding). Who else is there?
@@JerkyD George, Carl, Ladonna, Marina (the blind girl), Maria (the stutterer), Brain, Buster's mom, Francine's dad, Grandma Thora, Grandpa Dave, Ms. McGrady. Some of these characters you might forget about because the show inexplicably under-utilizes them while over-utilizing D.W., Francine, and Muffy, but those are excellent characters that I have never had a problem with. That said, yes, Sue Ellen is one of the best characters on the show
Except she has no problem with other people victimizing animals, apparently. What a hypocrite!

As a Mexican, while I'm proud of the fact that May 5th is acknowledge outside of my country, I wish September 16th (which is our Independence Day) was acknowledged more. I have yet to see a US TV Show that points out how important September 16th is. Just my two cents, sorry if I sounded preachy.
Anyways, putting aside that, I feel that Sue Ellen Vegges Out is much better than The Simpsons' Lisa the Vegetarian Episode, because it makes the point that not everyone has to be a Vegetarian. Sure, that was also the point of that Simpsons Episode, but I really don't think the message was well put together. Sue Ellen Vegges Out goes straight to the point, while Lisa the Vegetarian takes a while to get that message across.
On a side note, it's rather amusing how despite being the protagonist of his own show, Arthur is barely in this episode. Matter of fact, he can be absent in quite a lot of episodes. I mean, sure, many shows have episodes where the protagonist doesn't appear, but you can count them with one hand. With Arthur, however, he's been absent in quite a lot of episodes.
So sorry, Matt, for the long post. I rarely comment in RUclips. Back on topic, yeah, Muffy and Francine do deserve each other because misery loves company.
I think El Tigre did that once. And the Casagrandes too.

I remember in The Simpsons episode where Lisa became a vegetarian, Homer was throwing a meat only BBQ. When Lisa tried to serve gazpacho to the party, everyone laughed at her! I also remember Paul McCartney had stated that he would provide his voice on The Simpsons only if Lisa stayed a vegetarian for the rest of the series.
This episode had no reason to include Cinco De Mayo. Like it had no bearing on the rest of the episode
I’d like to see you do FU Arthur. The episode where Arthur makes fun of Sue Ellen and it goes too far and doesn’t even know he’s being a bully.
I hated that episode cuz it seemed so out of character for Arthur to bully his friends. The writers for that episode should have chosen a different character to be the bully. They should have chosen Muffy, Francine, or Binky. I think they were already starting to run out of episode ideas.
Matt already made a name for his channel by including DW. I admit he did make a good choice for Muffy as his second FU character from Arthur. I admit though I'm not on board with FU Arthur.
Of course, Caillou is from outside the show but for these purposes not outside PBS. I think at some point he should go with Angelica Pickles from Nickelodeon's Rugrats as I was into his version of that show's holiday specials in which she was being the bitch she was especially towards her younger cousin and main character of that show Tommy.
That was more a misunderstanding than being a bully.
@@andystitt3887 he was told to write an apology letter and then he double down by writing a sorry you feel that way type of letter. He wasn’t sorry at all.

Based off the spinoff Postcards with Buster, Francine's family is Reform Jewish, so they don't necessarily follow every facet of Kosher eating laws, apart from avoiding pork. It wouldn't matter too much in this situation anyway, since Kosher eating laws allow the consumption of dairy if no meat is had within the same sitting.
Agreed, though I think what Matt was pointing out was that Catherine just tossed her sister a cheese just as she was eating the very meaty Chinese food so it might have made it seem like Catherine was going to eat the cheese and meaty Chinese food at the same time. 5:45 Yeah, cats are carnivores. They eat cooked, lean meats such as beef, chicken, turkey, liver and lamb, so for cats to be vegetarian would be like Satan becoming a priest.

I remember this whole episodes being such a wild ride from the title to the episode “sue ellen vegges out”
the fact that lots of vegetarians have dairy in their diets but they instead order the non dairy sorbet instead ??
The fact that muffy went to all that effort to trick a vegetarian to eat meat is just a whole another level of fucked up
Also the fact that no one in Francine’s family saw an issue with Francine becoming a vegetarian just to win a petty bet with muffy ?? Like I don’t think most families would be as understanding lol
And lastly them eating nothing but vegetables throughout the WHOLE episode
This episode came out in 2013, were the tofu, were the beyond meat (beyond meat came out in 2009) weres the rice/curry (lots of Asian dishes happen to already be vegetarian similar to Mexican cuisine) ect ect
Like this episode makes being a vegetarian/vegan look extra sad lol
Nothing but cooked veggies in a pan, veggies with mustard, steamed veggies, sorbet/frozen yogurt , salad with nuts, veggies on a pan again, RAW veggies in a bag, and finally veggies in a pan again lol
Like holy shit do they make vegetarians/vegans diets look so fucking depressing it’s insane lol 😭
I bet none of the writers are vegetarian!
That is the hardest I’ve laughed in the intro EVER
I don't understand why it's a problem that Muffy and Francine are challenging themselves to be vegetarian. I understand Sue Ellen has a deeper meaning as to why she's a vegetarian, but this a good chance for her friends to have a better understanding for those who are a vegetarian. Plus they're eating healthier and learning new recipes. And changing your diet is never easy. Your body gets uncomfortable, foods you enjoy you can't eat anymore, your diet becomes boring. Of course they're going to complain. It takes a while to find what works.
