Another tip for buying textbooks: most universities (or at least most canadian ones 🇨🇦) have Facebook groups solely for buying and selling textbooks! Definitely the easiest and most cost-effective method for books at my uni!
Dual enrollment is so worth it but I definitely say be careful racking up credit hours during high school. If you don't know what you want to do for college then this may not help you in the long run. I had so many hours by my junior year, I had to add a minor just to be considered full time. Plus for college (this varies) if you hit a certain number of hours, for me it is 150 credit hours, you have to pay out of state tuition if you don't qualify for financial aid.
I also have 3 tips for new college students: - this one's really specific and could vary by school but at my school we had some classes that fulfilled more than one gen ed type (diversity studies, humanities, etc) and some that only fulfilled one. A lot of the ones that double up are not as interesting but TAKE THEM ANYWAY. You'll be so happy in the long run that you minimized the amount of credits you spent on those gen eds. - could be an unpopular opinion but if you know you're going to be better off not going to class, don't feel bad about it. I go to all/most of my classes each semester but there have been a couple of classes where the professor was just so bad I knew there was 0 benefit to me going. It's ok to know that and if you can keep up in a class without going, don't waste your time. - I really agree with hannah on the part about knowing more people being more fun. I am a hardcore introvert and wanted to take my time warming up to people freshman year. Other people made friends much more quickly, and I didn't end up making many because I didn't put myself out there at the beginning. Try as best as you can to get out of your comfort zone on that
I’m going to Belmont this fall, and all of your videos have been so helpful!! Orientation is virtual this year, so I’m hoping that won’t affect meeting people or learning my way around campus haha. I love your videos so much!!
aw yay! the campus is VERY manageable so don't worry at all about that! You will also walk to all your first semester classes with your TT group the weekend you move-in! I hope you love it!
AP is honestly so difficult to get credit for unless you get a 4-5. My AP classes were also dual enrollment so even though I got a 3 on most of my exams I still got credit since I got an A in the class. Go dual-enrollment AP is not worth it!
I’m a junior in Belgium, if only I would have had this video before college 🙄 as far as my school is concerned my biggest “problem” was that nobody told me to take a deep breath and to relativise aha
I agree with most of these, the only one I’m iffy on is taking classes at community college, the university I got to (UMichigan) is very choosy with what credits the accept from community colleges, but they take all AP credits if you get a 4 or higher (some classes even a 3 is okay). I know you might not know what college you’ll be going to when you are choosing whether to take AP or dual enrollment while in high school, but if you have top college choices make sure they accept what you’re taking. (also small tip, don’t feel bad about “stealing” from the dining hall, I would take fruit and pita chips almost everyday as snacks and it allowed me to eat healthier and more frequently since I didn’t usually have time to stop to get lunch)
Also... use rate my professor, not only to learn about profs but also to rate them at the end of the term! And about textbooks, there is many online resources where you can find a PDF of your book for free, always check there before purchasing!
I have been going to college for 2 years and have never once purchased a textbook from my school book store. I save so much money using amazon either buying used if I don't need a brand new copy or renting the textbook for the semester.
GO TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE!!! Don't waste $30,000+ on a year of college when you could easily save so much money going to a community college/junior college. The only debt I have ($8,000) is from my first year of college as a transfer student at a four year college (after my associate's degree). Belmont is so so so so so SO overpriced, so if you can transfer it would be so much cheaper. You are paying for the location, not the schooling :) You can find the same classes for cheaper not in Nashville or at Middle Tennessee, Berkley Online, etc. :)
I’m about to get my associates degree and I wish I knew that college is supposed to be harder than high school. School was always super easy for me until college. It got a lot harder and I didn’t know it was supposed to be that way at first
I was always great in math even algebra in high school but college algebra I couldn't pass. I switched my major and now have to take statists instead so we will see how that goes.
Once I went to college I unknowingly joined a Christian organization, and got SAVED so I would say just to be open to friendships and opportunities! Love your channel!!

Could you do a "How much I spend as a college student"?
Including fees, courses, your general budget. 🙊💖
this will be SOO helpful for all HS students!!! i wish i saw this before college

Cam B. I HARDCORE second your first tip about taking classes that fulfill more than one section needed for your degree!
love this! I don't know if Belmont has classes that fulfill more than one gen-ed but such a good tip!
I’m a sophomore in high school and I’ve been worried about college, thank you for this video ❤️
college is a lot of fun!
so so glad it could help!
To all seniors in quarantine rn,
This is the perfect time to practice a routine for college. Take this time as an opportunity.

The free time thing is so true!!!

YES if you know where you're applying definitely make sure to check and see what credits apply. :)
